The study compared the anthelmintic efficacy of ground papaya seeds with the commercially available anthelmintic (piperazine) and the study also evaluated the egg per gram and fecal egg count reduction.

The study was laid out following the Randomized Complete Block Design with the following treatments: Treatment 1- Positive Control (Piperazine), Treatment 2-Negative Control (Water only), Treatment 3- 500 mg of ground dried papaya seeds, Treatment 4- 700 mg of ground dried papaya seeds and Treatment 5-900 mg of ground dried papaya seeds. Each treatment was replicated 5 times.

The study revealed that the anthelmintic effect of dried papaya seeds is comparable to the commercial preparation (piperazine) against Capillaria and Ascaridia/Heterakis. For practical means, the ground dried papaya seeds could be recommended as a substitute for piperazine as an anthelmintic.
