| General note | The study compared the anthelmintic efficacy of ground papaya seeds with the commercially available anthelmintic (piperazine) and the study also evaluated the egg per gram and fecal egg count reduction. <br/><br/>The study was laid out following the Randomized Complete Block Design with the following treatments: Treatment 1- Positive Control (Piperazine), Treatment 2-Negative Control (Water only), Treatment 3- 500 mg of ground dried papaya seeds, Treatment 4- 700 mg of ground dried papaya seeds and Treatment 5-900 mg of ground dried papaya seeds. Each treatment was replicated 5 times. <br/><br/>The study revealed that the anthelmintic effect of dried papaya seeds is comparable to the commercial preparation (piperazine) against Capillaria and Ascaridia/Heterakis. For practical means, the ground dried papaya seeds could be recommended as a substitute for piperazine as an anthelmintic.<br/> <br/> |
