The main thrust of this study was focused on the assessment of the levels of questions asked by Grade II English teachers in the Division of Nueva Vizcaya and their relation to personal and professional variables.
The descriptive method of research was used in order to gather the needed data in the study. A set of questionnaire was designed to gather data from the teacher-respondents. The questions analyzed and classified were taken from the tests constructed by the teacher-respondents administered during the fourth periodical examination of the school year 1999-2000.
Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used to describe the data and to test the null hypotheses. To determine the profile of the teacher-respondents, percentage, frequency count, weighted mean, and mean were employed. The Chi-square was used in determining the relationships between the levels of questions and the personal and professional variables.
Findings:
1. The Grade 11 English teachers in the Division of Nueva Vizcaya were: in late adulthood years, female, with four average family size, with low standard ofliving, holders of BSEEd/BEEd degrees with M.A. units, specializing English, teaching English for an average years of 21.69, ranked Teacher 1 and Teacher III, rated very satisfactorily, receiving an average monthly salary of P9,757.03, attending in-service training in preparing instructional materials, and in measuring and evaluating English Teaching outcomes.
2. The Grade 11 English teachers in the Division of Nueva Vizcaya constructed predominantly questions in the literal level.
3. Levels of questions were significantly related to teachers' age, gender, family size, standard of living, educational attainment, field of specialization, length of experience in teaching English, monthly salary, in-service training in measuring and evaluating English teaching outcomes. However, levels of questions were not significantly related to teachers' marital status, academic rank, performance rating and in-service training in measurement and evaluation.
