This study was conducted to find out the effectiveness of a modular approach in teaching Bar and Beverage Management for Hotel and Restaurant Management students, determine the achievement and performance level and differences of the pretest and posttest mean scores between the experimental group and control group, evaluate the module as to objective, content, manner of presentation and relevance; and evaluate the difference in teaching by modular approach and traditional lecture method.

Results showed that the achievement and performance level of respondents in the experimental group (modular instruction) was higher than the control (traditional lecture method) There was a significant difference in the achievement test scores and the pretest and posttest mean scores between the experimental group and traditional lecture group.

The faculty experts evaluated the modules used in teaching as highly favorable in terms of its objectives, contents, manner of presentation and relevance and is considered as effective instructional materials for Hotel and Restaurant Management students.

As to actual teaching observed by faculty evaluators, the modular approach in teaching was rated as "very satisfactory" while the traditional lecture method got a "satisfactory rating".
