Energy demand for water pumping has been growing in the country. A wind pump is designed and fabricated to lift irrigation water. The performance of the wind pump was evaluated in terms of water discharge, actual power generated, and efficiency. Regression analysis and coefficient of determination were used to determine the goodness of fit pump performance.
Results showed that 0.3 m/s was the initial wind speed to rotate the wind pump and lift water. Moreover, as wind speed increases the rotation, water discharge and actual power generated also increases. The lowest wind pump discharge and efficiency was 0.95 L/min and 20.56% and the highest wind pump discharge and efficiency was 5.45 L/min and 5.57%. This shows that the wind pump is efficient at low-wind speed. Additionally, the pumping capacity of the wind pump was 0. 33 m³/hr with a cost of Php 138.37/m³ higher than the water rate of Nueva Vizcaya this is cause by variability of wind. The return of investment of the water cost was used with 100.66 % and a payback period of 0.99 months.
