This study was conducted to find out the effectiveness of a rubric as a performance-based assessment tool in meal management for Home Technology students, determine the performance level and differences of the pretest and posttest mean scores between the experimental group and control group, evaluate the rubric as to objective, content, manner of presentation and relevance.

Result showed that the performance level of respondents in the experimental and control fall within the "average" to "moderately high" performance level. Significant differences in the performance of both experimental and control group in styles of table napkin, was noted while in table setting and food garnishing no significant differences were noted, it means that both groups performed equally in the posttest.

The teacher evaluators strongly agree that rubrics as an assessment tool in any performance activity in the meal management subject was effective in terms of its objectives, contents, manner of presentation and relevance.
