500 _a This extended abstract provides an overview of a study focused on the structural analysis and design of bamboo truss structures using various methods of joining members. The objective of this research is to investigate the behavior and performance of bamboo truss structures under different load conditions, taking into consideration the limited resources and small-scale approach due to the researchers being college students. The study begins with a comprehensive literature review that highlights the significance of bamboo as a sustainable construction material and examines previous research on bamboo truss structures. The literature review identifies gaps in knowledge and establishes the need for further investigation into the structural analysis and design aspects of bamboo truss structures. The methodology employed in this study involves the selection of appropriate bamboo species, characterization of their mechanical properties, and determination of suitable dimensions for the truss members. Various methods of joining members, such as traditional lashing techniques and modern connectors, are considered to assess their effectiveness and structural integrity. To collect data, a carefully planned experimental setup is implemented. Load application is conducted by gradually increasing the applied load on the truss structure. Measurements of deflection, strain, and other relevant parameters are recorded using appropriate instruments and techniques. The collected data undergoes rigorous analysis, employing statistical techniques and structural calculations. The modulus of elasticity, moment of inertia, and other structural properties of the bamboo truss are determined. Comparisons are made between different joining methods to evaluate their influence on the overall performance of the structure. The results of the study are presented and discussed, providing insights into the behavior and performance of bamboo truss structures under different load conditions. The findings contribute to the understanding of the structural characteristics of bamboo trusses and offer valuable information for their design and application in sustainable construction. In conclusion, this study contributes to the field of bamboo truss structure analysis and design, particularly in the context of limited resources and small-scale experimentation conducted by college students. The study emphasizes the importance of proper data collection, analysis, and interpretation in order to derive meaningful insights and make informed decisions in structural design. Future research endeavors could explore advanced analytical methods, investigate alternative joining techniques, and investigate the long-term durability and performance of bamboo truss structures.
