500			_aThis thesis investigated the association between teaching strategies and the use of instructional materials with the English performance of 100 Grade VI learners in Bagabag 1 and Bagabag II Districts during the Academic Year 2019-2020. The study used a descriptive-inferential research method and employed a structured questionnaire to collect data from Grade VI English teachers and their class records. Data analyses included frequency counts, percentages, means, standard deviation, Spearman Moment Coefficient of Correlation, Multiple Regression, and Correlation. The findings revealed the teaching strategies were highly effective and instructional materials were consistently utilized. Learners' average English grade was satisfactory. Certain teaching strategies correlated significantly with specific instructional materials. Only role play showed a significant correlation with learners' academic performance in English. Surprisingly, the degree of instructional material utilization had a negative correlation with learners' English performance. The study identified four predictors for learners' English performance, accounting for up to 99.70% of the variance. The study recommended fostering innovative teaching practices, adapting instructional materials to promote learner engagement, exploring differentiated instruction, and combining traditional and progressive instructional materials to enhance English teaching in Grade VI. Additionally, further investigation into the negative influence of role play on learners' performance and appropriate usage of technology-based learning and online resources were suggested. Implementing these recommendations could lead to improved English performance among Grade VI learners. Keywords: academic performance in English, instructional materials, teaching strategies.
