| 500 | _aThe study was conducted in the Clonal Nursery of Quirino State University, Diffun, Quirino wherein a 4 x 5 factorial experiment was used following a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The first factor was the different substrates which include: pure sand, 3:1 sand to coconut coir ratio; 2:1 sand to coconut coir ratio and 1:1 sand to coconut coir ratio. The second factor was the various IBA concentrations to be applied as follows: 0 IBA (or distilled water only), 500 ppm, 1000 ppm, 1500 ppm and 2000 ppm. The percent survival of Bignay (Antidesma bunius) cuttings showed high percentage of survival across the different rooting media and IBA concentrations. In the interaction effect of the two factors, it revealed that highest percent survival (100%) was achieved by the application of 2000 ppm IBA regardless of the rooting media used. However, in the analysis of variance, it was found that there was no significant difference (at 5%) on the percent survival of A. bunius cuttings among the treatments. Mean root length of A. bunius cuttings was highest when applied with 1500 ppm IBA planted in 54 rooting media and lowest without IBA (0 ppm) and planted in S4 rooting media. Highest mean adventitious root number was in A. bunius cuttings applied with1000 ppm and 2000 ppm IBA, with mean value of 5.00 planted in S2 and S3 rooting media, respectively. The best IBA concentration that can aid to induce rooting would be at 1000 ppm and the best rooting media are S1 and S3. The highest mean number of shoots were produced by A. bunius cuttings which were applied with 1500 ppm IBA (6.42) and those that were planted in S1 rooting media (6.33). On the other hand, highest number of roots were produced by the cuttings planted in S2 (0.85) rooting media and the cuttings applied with no IBA (0 ppm). The most effective treatments in the development of roots and percent survival of a bunius stem cuttings are treatment SIC4 and S2C3. Yet, economically, 500 ppm IBA is adequate using S1 and S2 rooting media. In the mean number of shoots, the highest was in A. bunius cuttings applied with no IBA (0 ppm), 1000 ppm IBA and 1500 ppm IBA (7.33) and those that were planted in pure sand and in rooting media S3. | ||
