This paper entails the evaluation of a dual-power egg incubator. It is a 60-egg capacity incubator, and the temperature and egg-turning mechanism were regulated electronically. The incubation of the egg in 21 days with the modified thermostat controller between 30°C to 38°C. The performance evaluation of the incubator and hatchery system was carried out. This was to develop an incubator system capable of hatching a large number of chicks at a time and attaining high hatchability.
The dual-powered egg incubator demonstrates effective performance in maintaining optimal temperature and humidity conditions and ensuring regular egg turning, all of which are critical for successful embryo development and hatchability. The solar-powered mode shows a slightly higher efficiency in temperature maintenance, while both power modes effectively manage humidity levels. A simple cost analysis determined the annual cost of operating the incubator box. The initial investment cost was Php 16,595, with fixed annual costs amounting to Php 5,092.59 and operating costs leading to a total annual cost of Php 14,708.54.
