Despite all animals being dewormed, a high level of infection was observed in the samples collected with 112 samples (71.34%) showing infection with at least one type of nematode, 44 samples (28.03%) were infected with two types of nematodes, and 1 sample (0.63%) was found positive with three types of nematodes. The overall prevalence for Haemonchus sp. Trichostrongylus sp., and Trichuris sp. were 39.45%, 35 16%, and 5.08% respectively. Evaluation of reproductive indices showed that during first service (n=72), fertility (59.72%) and conception rates (95.35%) were within standards. However, calving to first service interval (CFSI) (n=116) was extended with 38.79% of cows taking more than 70 days to return to heat. Calving to conception interval (CCI) (n=116) was extended with 40.52% taking >110 days to get pregnant. Calving interval (CT) (n=146) was extended with 34.25% of cows having >500 days interval. Infection with Trichuris sp. was correlated with extended CFSI (-0.176, p = 0.029, CCI (r = 0.208, p = 0.01) and CI (-0.183, p - 0.023) while Haemonchus sp. infection was correlated with extended Cl (r = 0.246 p < 0.002) Improvement in health management is highly recommended to reduce or prevent nematode infection in dairy cattle. | Thesis (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) 28 cm..

Place hold on Study on the correlation of the prevalence of nematode parasites and reproductive indices of dairy cattle (bos taurus) in Cagayan, Valley, Philippines/

Landslide susceptibility mapping in Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya using GIS: an enchancement/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Avecilla, Clark Chester T..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2024 .
x, 105 leaves : , Creating a landslide susceptibility map is imperative for effectively managing the landslide hazard, reducing property damage and loss of life. Like many other mountainous places, the municipality of Quezon has also experienced landslides, resulting in fatalities, injuries, and property destruction. Hence, this study was conducted to generate an enhanced landslide susceptibility map using a GIS-based spatial multicriteria approach. Seven causative factors, including slope, rainfall, soil type, land cover, elevation, distance from the road, and distance from the river, were selected for the present assessment. An enhanced landslide susceptibility map was generated by integrating AHP and GIS techniques and was categorized into four susceptibility classes: very low, low, moderate, and high. The result presented in the study illustrates that there was a disparity between the two maps. The enhanced map shows a more detailed representation of truly vulnerable areas. Specifically, 3589.64 hectares are identified as very low susceptible, 5690.36 hectares are low susceptible, while 5993.09 hectares and 5792.80 hectares are categorized as moderately and highly susceptible to landslides. The results presented in the study indicate that Barangay Maasin, Runruno, and Calaocan, and some parts of Maddiangat, Baresbes, Buliwao, and Darubba, are identified as at high-risk areas. On the other hand, Barangay Dagupan and Bonifacio are at moderate risk, while Barangay Nalubbunan, Caliat, and Aurora are at low risk. Furthermore, the validation conducted by geotagging and field survey yields positive results, indicating that the validated points aligned on the enhanced LSM. The enhanced LSM serves as a valuable tool for disaster preparedness and enables local agencies to implement targeted measures to mitigate landslide risks, especially in high-risk places. | Research paper (Bachelor of Science in Geodetic Engineering) 28 cm..

Place hold on Landslide susceptibility mapping in Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya using GIS: an enchancement/

Holistic human development through kagawad kalinga: the Nueva Vizcaya experience
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Bacani, Jane B..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2016 .
xv,123 leaves : , This study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of the Gawad Kalinga (GK) program implemented in the province of Nueva Vizcaya. The study was undertaken in six (6) GK sites in the province of Nueva Vizcaya situated at Malasin and Macabenga in Dupax del Norte, Aliaga in Bambang, Banganan in Aritao, Bascaran in Solano and Namamparan in Diadi. A total of 131 respondents were randomly chosen from the study sites. The study was conducted from September to December 2015. A questionnaire was developed and administered to the beneficiaries, community leaders and caretaker team of the GK in Nueva Vizcaya. The data were gathered through an interview schedule, key informants and from secondary sources. The data were analyzed using descriptive inferential statistics. The 0.05 probability level was the critical point of reference for the analysis of data. Results were presented in the narrative reportorial method and portrayed in tabular forms. The respondents have an average age of 42.83 years, predominated by the Ilocanos, mostly married, with an average of three (3) dependents, mostly elementary to high school graduates, predominantly Roman Catholics, engaged in manual labor such as farming, construction workers and drivers, with an average monthly income of P3,265.65, and residing in the GK for an average of 7.47years.The extent of services rendered by various institutions/agencies is high, the performance of personnel assigned to GK sites is high; and suitability of the mechanics of GK implementation was rated as moderately low, The performance of the GK Program in terms of social development was moderately low, community development was measured as moderately low, while infrastructure development is rated as high. The overall performance of the GK is high. The foremost problems experienced by the beneficiaries include the source of potable water for the use of the beneficiaries, the concreting of the farm to market road, and additional septic tanks. Other problems with less severity include sustainability of enterprises/livelihood programs, cultivation of the Bayan-anihan plot for vegetable production, SISTEMA program, health system, health services and facilities, SAGIP values formation activities, SIBOL, pre-school program, and SIGA barkadahan sessions. The performance of GK in Nueva Vizcaya significantly correlated with the number of dependents and years of stay in GK areas. The extent of implementation of the various institutional development support activities inherent to the GK program is directly related to the attainment of the goals and objectives of the GK. The occurrence and severity of the problems affected the performance of the GK in Nueva Vizcaya. With the above findings, it is concluded that beneficiaries of the program who have lesser number of dependents and who have been staying in the GK sites for longer periods have acquired more benefits from Gawad Kalinga program, hence, beneficiaries should be encouraged to practice family planning to have lesser number of their dependents not only for financial reasons but also for better access to health services, education and food sufficiency. Beneficiaries who have been staying fonder in the GK sites should be encouraged to become counselors and mobilizers to motivate newer members in the protection and rehabilitation of the environment, ensuring food sufficiency and in the formation of income generating projects. To attain the goals and objectives of the GK, corresponding institutional development support from agencies and institutions need to be properly implemented as planned to attain the goals of the GK Program in terms of social development, community development and infrastructure development. Unresolved problems in the various components of the GK Program affected the performance of the GK in Nueva Vizcaya. Problem identification through scientific analysis should be done through monitoring and evaluation with the assistance of the implementers to detect potential and persistent problems for its speedy resolutions. | Thesis (Master of Science - Rural Development) 28 cm..

Place hold on Holistic human development through kagawad kalinga: the Nueva Vizcaya experience

Factors associated to fresh graduates' employability in the tourist attractions in Nueva Vizcaya/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Bonina, Kristine Dimple.
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2022 .
xv, 40 leaves : , The primary goal of this research is to discover the factors that influence recent graduates' employment. The study was undertaken in three (3) municipalities of Nueva Vizcaya namely: Dupax del Norte, Bayombong and Quezon where there is use and production of hybrid rice. Data were gathered through structured questionnaires administered to 148 respondents composed of 71 agricultural service providers in high yielding. 41 in medium yielding, and 36 in low yielding hybrid rice producing municipalities. This was further enhanced by key informants' interviews. The study was conducted from December 2015 to January 2016. The study used descriptive-inferential method of research. The 0.05 probability level of significance was the critical point reference for the analysis of data results, which were presented in the narrative reportorial method and portrayed in tabular forms. The respondents were mostly 45 years old, mostly males and married, with other sources of income from combination of agriculture-related projects, farm labor, construction, and others. They have low educational attainment ranging from elementary to high school undergraduates and they belong to families with 2-7 household members. Mostly were landless but seasoned farmers with 31 years of experience in farming, who were either tenants, and were either into groups providing services for the pulling of seedlings, or transplanting and harvesting. Respondents were mostly paid per bundle or per day in pulling seedling, by contract for transplanting and harvesting and mostly paid in advance by the land owners. They considered their hiring rate from high to very high in pulling of seedlings, low to moderate for transplanting, and high in harvesting: commonly working for farmers with exceptional behavior, in a very good and safe farm location. And only some of respondents have attended trainings related to agriculture and rice, and very few are members to agricultural related organizations or availed agricultural support programs, but some have hospitalization benefits. Result of the study indicated that the overall competency of agricultural service providers in cultural production of hybrid rice is high. This result is credited with the very good leadership capability of team leaders fondly called as "kabesilya". It indicates further that the higher the capability of team leader, the higher would be the competency of agricultural service providers. Therefore, it is encouraged that team leaders may participate in rice production trainings to further enhance their technical capabilities. Furthermore, agricultural service providers who have other sources of income from combinations of agriculture-related projects, construction, farm labor and others, working on safe environment and on locations with higher yield on hybrid rice but with service providers who command lower hiring or payment rate on pulling of seedlings and have poorer farm location have higher competency on cultural production of hybrid rice. For this, concerned agencies in the province and in municipalities like agriculture offices, training institutions and academe may continue and intensify implementation of livelihood projects and AEWs to equip agricultural service providers in the province to provide more training on agriculture-related and non-related enterprises most especially to service providers who are lesser competent to augment their income during lean-months when work in farm is scarce. The competency of agricultural service providers in hybrid rice production in Nueva Vizcaya is regarded as high and significantly differed on high, medium and low yielding areas. As competency levels of service providers in seeds and seed preparation, seedbed preparation, care and management of seedlings, crop establishment, and crop management improves, yield increases. Agricultural service providers in lower yielding areas may immerse on areas considered as high yielding to improve their skills on previously mentioned cultural practices of hybrid rice production. | Thesis (Master of Science-Rural Development) 28 cm..

Place hold on The competency level of agricultural service provides and yield of irrigate hybrid rice in Nueva Vizcaya/

Training and development practices and the work behaviors of employees in selected private higher educational institutions in Nueva Vizcaya/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Del Mundo Jr., Fernando C..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2016 .
xiii, 107 leaves : , Human resource training and development is one way of sharing necessary knowledge and skills to human resource professionals in the organization. This is necessary for a number of reasons why HR professionals are very important in the organization. They need continuous upgrade of their skills and attitudes, necessarily training them to bring them at par with the organization's goals and in tune with the industry trends for well-equipped HR professionals are the means to ensuring optimal performance from the organization's employees (Stuart, 2013). In order to attain quality competent-performance, it is imperative that the members of the human force be highly competent and be at par with the standards of professionalism It was in this context that this study was conceptualized, by embracing the training and development as an integral part of the human resource management among selected private higher educational institutions in Nueva Vizcaya, and how these practices influence the work behaviors of both non-teaching and teaching staff. This study is anchored on determining the relationship of the training and development practices and work behaviors of employees in selected private higher educational institutions in Nueva Vizcaya. The descriptive correlational method was used to determine the relationship of profile variables to training and development practices and work behavior In view of the data gathered, the following major findings and conclusions are drawn 1) Age and gender had a significant positive influence on the determination of an employee to succeed, 2) Highest educational attainment had a significant positive influence on accommodating change, 3) Gender had a bearing on the cooperation in overcoming a problem and willingness to accept responsibility among employees, 4) Source of funding of training and development had a significant positive influence to show enthusiasm, determined to succeed, wanting to accept responsibility and motivation to work. Training and development practices which include orientation, coaching, short term trainings and team building had significant positive influence on the work behavior of respondents. On the other hand, delegation and mentoring had no significant influence to the work behaviors of the respondents. Based on the forgoing findings and conclusions, the following were recommended)) The Commission on Higher Education may formulate policies and procedures to monitor Private Higher Educational Institutions regarding their training and development practices 2) School administrator, and human resource officer may conduct orientation, coaching, short term trainings and team building for school personnel's since these practices greatly influence the work behaviors of employees and 3) Future researchers may conduct related researches in other private HEI's to validate the results and determine other possible demographic attributes which were not included as predictors of the training and development practices and the work behaviors of employees in private higher educational institutions. | Thesis (Master of Arts in Public Administration - Local Government Administration) 28 cm..

Place hold on Training and development practices and the work behaviors of employees in selected private higher educational institutions in Nueva Vizcaya/

Determinants of the level of academic performance in science 9/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Latigay, Ruchi Briam James S..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2016 .
xiii, 86 leaves : , This study determined the relationship between academic performance in science 9 and the different factor variables such as demographic profiles, science attitude and mental ability. This study was conducted among the 16 secondary Science 9 teachers and 289 Grade 9 student of the nine secondary schools of Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya. The researcher made use of combination of the descriptive-correlational and linear regression model. The descriptive part assessed the profile of the teachers and students' respondents and the levels of the student's attitudes towards science and mental ability. The correlational part determined the relationship of the profile variables (teachers and students) to the academic performance of the students. Lastly, the linear regression model has been taken to find out the relation between the performances of the students with 7 independent variables. Descriptive-survey type of research was used involving data collection through questionnaires, testing as well as document scanning. Data analysis used frequency count and percentage distribution, mean and standard deviations. To test the relationship among variables, correlation was used while multiple regressions determined the significant predictors or variables. Hypotheses were tested at 0.01 and 0.05 levels of significance. Results showed that the level of the mental ability and scientific attitude of the student respondents were average and along the five scientific attitudes, critical mindedness turned to be the highest and objectivity being the lowest. Most of the student respondents are 'Proficient in their academic performance in Science 9 for the first three quarter of the school year 2014-2015. The academic performance of the students is not directly influenced by the teacher’s profile. Females are performing better and students whose parents are educated are performing better than those whose parents are not educated. The profile of the respondents, the level of teaching performance, teaching-learning practices, sources of problems encountered by the English language teachers were evaluated. Furthermore, the best predictors of NCAE-English rating of the Grade 9 students in the northern schools of Nueva Vizcaya were identified. The study used the descriptive correlational statistics to determine the relationship between the teaching-learning practices and the NCAE-English rating of students. Partial correlation and multivariate linear regression were also employed to identify the best predictors of NCAE-English rating. The profile of the respondents as well as their practices and problems in their workplace were gathered through the use of survey questionnaires which were given to the 62 public high schools English Language teachers of Grade 7 to 9 in the northern district of Nueva Vizcaya. The performance rating in NCAE-English of the 2,543 Grade 9 students in the same secondary schools of Nueva Vizcaya were also gathered and analyzed in this study. Findings revealed that the teacher respondents are young, with two subject preparations, with a very satisfactory Individual Performance Commitment Review (IPCR) rating and who encountered serious problems on students, modules and teachers. Obtained result of Pearson's r correlation showed that teachers who presented clear information and/or gave class instructions, who encouraged students to read varied sources, and who included students' output on play, art project, portfolio, choral recitation, speech choir, etc. yielded higher students' NCAE-English rating. The findings showed that a higher NCAE-English rating could be attributed to the Individual Performance Commitment Review (IPCR) performance rating, teacher's number of preparations, and teaching-learning practice of encouraging students to read materials from varied sources. However, the low performance of students in NCAE-English could not be explained by other teaching-learning practices and some other problems encountered by the teachers. | Thesis (Master of Arts in Teaching - English) 28 cm..

Place hold on Implication of the ncae-english result on the teaching-learning practices among teachers of northern secondary schools of Nueva Vizcaya/

Models of senior high school students: achievement in science as influenced by metacognitive awareness of reading strategies and reading strategies and reading comprehension/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Almendra, Nathaniel R..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2016 .
xii, 86 leaves : , This study investigated the Science Laboratory Learning Environment and academic performance of Grade 7 students in Science in Kasibu, Nueva Vizcaya. This study was conducted among the 267 Grade 7 students in the five public secondary schools. The respondents of the study rated the modified SLLE questionnaire. The data were acquired through a survey-questionnaire consisting of two parts socio-demographic profile and laboratory learning environment indicators. The researcher analyzed the data using descriptive-inferential methods. Descriptive methods were used to present the profile of the students, their perceptions on the laboratory learning environments and academic performance in science. On the other hand, the correlational methods explored the differences and relationships among the factor variables. Results showed that almost two-thirds of the students are females and in their early teens. They are performing very satisfactorily in their science subjects. The science laboratory learning environments are satisfactory. Student cohesiveness indicators and material environment indicators were mostly observed. However, there is an observed need to improve on laboratory materials and equipment. Significant differences were observed in most of the indicators of laboratory learning activities when they were grouped according to sex and ethnicity. Males and respondents with different ethnicities tend to look at the positive side of the science laboratory learning environments. In addition, age, sex, and distance between residence and school of the respondents were found to be significant different by academic performance in Grade 7 Science. Lastly, there was no significant relationship between the perceptions of the respondents about the laboratory learning environment indicators and their academic performance in science except for the rule clarity indicators. This meant that if the laboratory's structure and expectations were not always communicated and implemented during laboratory sessions, then the students tend to have a higher academic performance. This may be attributed to the behavior of the students who tend to explore rather than be stickler of rules. Most often than not, it in this situation that discoveries arise. The freedom students’ experiences tend to encourage them to gear up and discipline themselves Reading strategy and reading comprehension were moderately and significantly correlated with Integrated Science achievement. The predictors of student's Integrated Science achievement vary according to strand. Reading comprehension was a significant predictor of Integrated Science achievement for STEM, ABM, GAS and TVL HE while reading strategy was a significant predictor of achievement for TVLEIM. Moreover, reading comprehension and reading strategy were significant predictors of achievement for HUMSS while both reading comprehension and reading strategy were not predictors of achievement for SPAD and SPORTS. Overall, reading strategy and reading comprehension were significant predictors of Integrated Science Achievement. The study was undertaken in four provinces namely: Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Isabela and Cagayan province. Fecal samples were collected from 256 dairy cattle and subjected to sedimentation and Baermann technique for trematode egg and larva identification. Fasciola spp. and Paramphistomum spp eggs were identified through sedimentation whereas no larva was found using the Baermann technique. Fecalysis shows a low prevalence of trematode parasites (14.45%) detected in Cagayan Valley Low milk yield production was also noted in dairy cattle where Isabela province contribute the most. Analysis using SPSS-Pearson correlation revealed that certain variables such as Body Condition Score ( p < 0.012 , r = - 0.157 ), status of the animal ( p < 0.014 , r = - 0.153 ) average litter of milk yield per day ( p < 0 , r=-0.266) and age ( p < 0 , r = - 0.25 ) are negatively correlated with increased infection of Fasciola spp. Negative correlations were found between Paramphistomum spp. and status of the animal ( p < 0.036 r = - 0.131 ) and average litter of milk yield per day ( p < 0.028 , r = - 0.137 ). Farmers are recommended to attend on dairy production and management trainings and should also consider the possibility of selection and crossbreeding where it is feasible with improved feeding and proper management systems to help increase milk yield production. | Thesis (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) 28 cm..

Place hold on A correlation study on the prevalence of trematode parasites and milk performance parameters of dairy cattle in Cagayan Valley/

Perception of bachelor of science in tourism management students on the flexible learning implementation and career outlook/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Angel, Angelica W..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2023 .
xv, 57 leaves : , The education sector implemented flexible learning to address the challenges posed by the CoViD-19 pandemic. Flexible learning is a set of educational theories and approaches aimed at giving students more options, comfort, and customization to meet their needs. As a result, the goal of this study was to evaluate the use of flexible learning and the career prospects of Nueva Vizcaya State University Tourist Management graduating students. The purpose of this study was to determine the demographic profile of BSTM graduating students, as well as their perceptions of the effectiveness of flexible learning implementation, career outlooks, and prospective career choices. Additionally, the significant differences between variables were investigated. A descriptive-inferential research design was used in the study. A three-part survey questionnaire was distributed to the 70 BSTM graduating students. The collected data was then analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results revealed that the 70 student respondents are mostly in their early twenties and females. When asked how many devices they used for online studies, nearly four out of ten respondents said they only have their phones. Finally, when it comes to internet access, respondents primarily use mobile data. Furthermore, the overall perception of flexible learning by student respondents is positive. This merely demonstrates that the student-respondents were on the right side of the pandemic. Despite the pandemic's challenges, flexible learning provided a positive learning environment. Overall, the student-respondents have a positive career outlook. First and foremost, they believe that the pandemic will have a negative impact on careers in the hospitality and tourism industries. Prior to and during the pandemic, they had already decided and acted in the same manner in pursuing a career in the tourism sector. They have faith in the academic institution's educational system, which has assisted them in flexible learning, and help them pursue their preferred tourism career. Finally, given their positive career outlook, student respondents are confident that they will be fully prepared for the tourism industry in 2023. In terms of career choices, the student-respondents were given 14 different career options. The student respondents preferred career path would most likely be that of a restaurant steward. It received the most votes from student respondents as their top choice. Their second most desired career path was front office manager. Event planner was the third most popular career choice. It was also found that when students were grouped according to their age, there was a significant difference in their perceptions of the effects of flexible learning in terms of the ability of the students. It was found that older respondents exhibit a more positive effect of flexible learning on their ability compared to their younger counterparts. However, student-respondents have nearly equal career prospects regardless of demographic variable. Eighteen apparently healthy 1-3 years old female Philippine native goats, weighing 10-20 kg were divided randomly into three groups and subjected to the following: a) distal paravertebral nerve block (DPNB) using lidocaine hydrochloride; 2) conventional needle acupuncture (CNA); and 3) aquapuncture using 2% chili pepper decoction (AQ). Exploratory laparotomy was conducted and analgesia, clinical responses, cortisol level, wound healing rate and gross appearance of wounds were determined. Good to excellent surgical analgesia was produced in all six sheep of DPNB, five animals in AQ and one animal in CNA. No differences in clinical response and cortisol level were observed among the treatment groups. The three treatment groups had similar or comparable wound healing rates but complete wound healing was observed in 40% of goats under AQ compared to 0% for both CNA and DPNB. An increased hair growth was also observed in AQ compared to CNA and DPNB. The results suggest that aquapuncture using chili pepper decoction can be used as an alternative to distal paravertebral nerve block in producing surgical analgesia for laparotomy with comparable wound healing in goats. A total of 96 hog raisers and 7 local program implementers were the respondents of the study. The study was conducted from May-August 2022. A set of questionnaires were developed and administered to the respondents. The data were collected through the key informants and personal interviews of the respondents. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results were presented in narrative method and portrayed in tabular forms. The respondents were mostly married females, between 21 and more than 50 years old. The respondents were mainly from the llocano and Igorot ethnicities and predominated by Roman Catholics. Majority of the respondents have 5-9 household sizes, self-employed, engaged in hog raising for less than 5 years purposely for source of income. The backyard farm is the most common type of production scale with a grower to finisher production system. Most of the respondents are knowledgeable of the causative agent, transmission, and clinical signs of the ASF Similarly, the respondents are highly aware of the stage of production, class of pigs affected, non-zoonotic potential, the need for a confirmatory diagnosis and unavailability of treatment or vaccine for the disease. The respondents are not compliant with the recommended location in between piggeries, provision of signages, wearing of protective clothing and showering upon entering the farm premises, record-keeping and vehicle movement management practices. However, majority of the respondents are compliant with the proper way of disposing of suspected/confirmed carcasses, disease monitoring and surveillance activities, and post-outbreak contingency-related procedures. African Swine Fever still exists in the province amidst the collaborative efforts of concerned government agencies involving policies and ordinances, information, education, and communication campaign strategies, border control, and the detection of African Swine Fever in piggeries and animal holding facilities. This was compounded by the unavailability of vaccines, the reluctance of hog raisers to disclose animal diseases, and the illegal movement of undocumented pigs and by-products.
