Irrigated rice yielding projection e-application (iRYCE)/

xi, 163 leaves : , Using the descriptive and software developmental design, the study developed and evaluated an Irrigated Rice Yield projeCtion E-application (iRYCE) to predict rice yield of irrigated farms in Bayombong, Solano, Bagabag and Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines. A total of twenty (20) farmer participants with irrigated rice fields adjacent to each other were the respondents from the four municipalities. While forty (40) system evaluators and end users from the academe, DA planning officer, ICT program developer and agriculturist/technician evaluated the proposed iRYCE application. A questionnaire, interviews, and observations were conducted from the field practices of the farmers with all the inputs in the conceptual paradigm of this study. The researcher used frequency count and percentage distribution, mean, chi-square, pearson rand linear regression analysis to predict and determine the extent of relationship of projected rice yield with the result of soil analysis, average yield of the participants per annum, rice variety, fertilizer application, number of days of rice seedling before transplanting and harvesting. Dynamic System Development Method Framework was utilized as its guide in the development of the iRYCE application. As a result, Nitrogen nutrient of the soil samples from the four municipalities had a low qualitative description. Phosphorous nutrient test had a qualitative description distributed from low to high and Potassium had a high qualitative description. The municipality of Solano had an average description rating in terms of average yield per annum while the three other municipalities had a descriptive rating of low. The overall rice varieties that were utilized by the farmer participants were RC 222 (45%), RC 226 (25%), RC 216 (12.5%), RC 152 (10%), RC 440 (5%) and RC138 (2.5%). Majority of the farmer participants followed fifteen days (15) after transplanting in their fertilizer application of side dress. While the days before harvesting practice of the farmer participants had a range from 108 to 115 days. Findings showed that the extent of software compliance as evaluated by system evaluators revealed that the proposed system was accepted unconditionally based on ISO 25010 criteria. The results showed that the overall features of the system with respect to ISO criteria were all met. The Rural Health Unit (RHU) of the Municipality of Solano, Nueva Vizcaya is currently using a manual system in terms of implementing medical services and patient profiling. A descriptive-developmental Interviews, research method, particularly observations, and document scanning, was conducted in order to gather data relevant to the objectives of the study. During the interviews, different problems on medical services were encountered in this manual method such as tedious work in assessing health conditions, difficulty in diagnosing, and high time consumption in backtracking previous health records. As regards patient profiling, there was difficulty in data processing because patient records were sifted from various source documents, there was a lack of confidentiality and security because of the absence of central storage, among others. With the extraordinary availability of data, these issues could be handled using data mining techniques to predict disease occurrences. In this study, clustering and classification techniques were utilized to predict disease occurrences of every barangay of the municipality at a given time. An efficient records-management system along with a decision-support system was developed to meet the challenges of the RHU. It mainly features the disease-occurrence mapping to assist physicians and other health professionals in their decision-making tasks particularly in diagnosis, treatment, and recommendations. xv, 126 leaves : , Thirty-one pigs were used to determine the digestibility of rations, growth response, and carcass evaluation of swine fed with copra meal or paring meal (0, 20, 30 per cent). The pigs were penned individually and fed ad libitum. Results showed that the digestion coefficients for dry matter, crude protein, and crude fiber for starter, growing, growing-finishing, and finishing rations exhibited highly significant differences among the treatment means, except for dry matter in growing-finishing rations where differences were not significant. Crude fiber digestibility was higher in pigs given 30 per cent level than in the control pigs and those given 20 per cent level. Digestion coefficients of copra meal-fed pigs were higher than those of the paring meal-fed pigs. No apparent differences were established in digestibility values among periods. Growth performance study did not indicate significant differences among the treatments. Pigs given 30 per cent copra meal or paring meal took a little longer (8 days more) to reach 75 kilograms. The control and the 20 per cent copra meal lots gave the highest average daily gain (ADG). Pigs given the control ration were the most efficient feed converter followed, in descending order, by those fed 20 and 30 per cent copra meal. In general, pigs given higher levels of copra meal or paring meal performed comparatively equal to the control pigs. Carcass quality was not adversely affected by the inclusion of copra meal or paring meal at levels up to 30 per cent of the ration. Statistical analysis of some carcass measurements showed no significant differences among treatments. Pigs given the control ration yielded more lean and less fat than those given copra meal and paring meal. There was also an increasing score of fat firmness as the levels of copra meal and paring meal in the rations were increased. Taste panel members commented favorably on the eating quality attributes of the meat from all the treatments. Chemical analysis of some fat constants showed significant differences in saponification number of leaf fat and backfat, but no statistical differences in their acid value and iodine number. The results of shifting from rations containing copra meal or paring meal to non-copra meal or paring meal diets were inconclusive. However, unshifted animals had significantly larger loin eye area with more cooking losses and percentage drippings than shifted pigs. Likewise, in sensory evaluation, meat from the unshifted pigs was less juicy but higher in flavor than meat from the shifted animals. Fat constants were not affected by the shifting of rations. The incorporation of copra meal and paring meal at levels up to 30 per cent of the ration did not affect the performance of pigs. Feeding value of ground damaged palay and damaged milled rice as corn substitute in the diet of two strains of broiler (strains a and b)/

xvii, 96 leaves : , A feeding trial consisting of 6 dietary formulations with 3 levels (25, 50 and 100 percent) of ground damaged palay (GDP) and damaged milled rice (DMR) was conducted on two commercial strains (Strains A and B) of broiler to determine and evaluate their potential feeding values as substitutes for corn in broiler diets. These dietary formulations were compared to a zero percent GDP-DMR substitution of corn diet and a standard commercial broiler mash in terms of the economically important traits of meat type chickens like feed consumption, gain in weight, feed conversion efficiency and carcass quality. There was no significant influence of either strain or diet on the feed intake of the birds, although birds in the test diets consumed slightly lesser feeds than those in the control (pure commercial broiler mash) diet. Except for birds in the 25 and 50 percent GDP diets, all birds in other treatment groups consumed lesser feeds but they are not significantly different from birds in the zero percent GDP-DMR substitution of corn diet. Similarly, birds in Strain B have lower feed intake than birds in Strain A. A significant change in body weight was noted among birds subjected to the experimental diets. But no significant difference was noted in the weight gain of the birds in the control diet when compared to those in the experimental diets. Marked differences in feed conversion efficiency (FCE) were observed among birds subjected to the experimental diets but not when compared with those in the control. This was mainly due to the level of GDP and DMR substitution of corn in the diet. Birds in Strain B fed with 50 and 100 percent DMR substitution of corn diet had significantly higher dressing percentage than birds in Strain A which were subjected to the same diet. The level of GDP and DMR improved breast fleshing among the experimental birds and markedly reduced their skin and shank pigmentation. Strain significantly influenced the feathering ability of all the birds including the control. Regardless of diet, Strain B had better feathering than Strain A. Birds in the experimental diets had significantly lower cost of feed per unit gain in body weight than those in the control diet. Mortality was not significantly affected by either diet or strain factors. This study suggests that 50 and 100 percent damaged milled rice and 100 percent ground damaged palay substitution of corn can lower cost of feed per kilogram gain in weight and attain higher income-over-feed cost. | Thesis (Master of Science - Animal Science) 28 cm..
