Specifically, the study aimed: (1) to determine the rate of wound contraction after application of frog skin ointment and (2) to determine the number of days to achieved wound epithelialization. Experimental animals were randomly distributed using the complete randomized design (CRD). The different treatments were composed of Treatment 1 (negative control- no treatment), Treatment 2 (positive control- Mupirocin ointment), Treatment 3 (Frog skin ointment- 1%), and Treatment 4 (Frog skin ointment- 2%). The duration of the treatment lasted for 18 days. Based on the result of the study. T3 and T4 have wound healing qualities that are similar to T2. As to wound contraction, day 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11, displayed high significant difference(p<0.01) whereas day 6, 12, 13, and 14 showed significant difference (p<0.05) across treatments. Similar results were shown throughout the epithelialization period with T3 and T4 exhibiting a highly significant difference (p<0.01) when compared to other treatment groups at 5% DMRT. Conventional hollow blocks, while widely used, present challenges related to weight and handling, which impact energy efficiency and construction flexibility. This thesis explored the integration of Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) into hollow blocks to address these issues. EPS, known for its lightweight properties, offers potential benefits such as reduced structural weight and improved ease of handling, while also supporting environmental sustainability through the repurposing of recyclable materials. The study involved creating four mixtures of EPS-infused hollow blocks, with varying EPS content: 0% (Mixture A), 25% (Mixture B), 50% (Mixture C), and 75% (Mixture D). These mixtures were tested for compressive strength and bulk density. Results showed that Mixture B had the highest compressive strength at 3.2 MPa, a 0.79% increase compared to the control group, and a bulk density at 2251.24 kg/m³, with a 2.91% decrease from the control group. Mixture D, on the other hand, had the lowest compressive strength at 1.6 MPa, a 51.27% decrease compared to the control group, and the lightest bulk density at 1950.41 kg/m³, a 15.88% decrease from the control group. The research concludes that integrating EPS into hollow blocks can effectively balance weight and strength, with Mixture B emerging as the optimal mix for achieving the best combination of these properties. This innovation not only enhances construction efficiency and flexibility but also contributes to sustainable building practices by reducing waste and promoting the use of recycled materials. | Research paper (Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering - Structural Engineering) 28 cm..

Place hold on Measuring the impact of recycled expanded polystyrene beads on concrete hollow block’s compressive strength and weight: a quantitative approach/

Survey on the breeding, health management practices and reproductive parameters of dairy buffaloes in selected areas of Cagayan Valley/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Marcelo, Blessing B..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2024 .
xiv, 62 leaves : , The study determined the breeding, health management practices and reproductive parameters of dairy buffaloes in selected areas of Cagayan Valley through the interview of dairy buffalo farmers (n = 22) and collection of information of individual buffaloes (n=234). The demographic information of farmers, farm operation profile, breeding system, feeding management, and farm health management, were collected and correlated with reproductive parameters. Majority of the reproductive parameters of buffaloes raised are not within acceptable standards. It was observed that the first fertility (46.59%) rate is low, with only 41 heifers becoming pregnant after service out of 88; while 47 out of 88 heifers failed conception (53.41%) after service. Furthermore, calving to first service interval (CFSI) (n = 185) was extended with 43.79% of dairy buffaloes taking more than 90 days to return heat. Calving to conception interval (CCI) (n = 185) was extended with 70.27% taking more than 110 days. Calving interval (Cl) (n = 146) was extended with 45.89% of dairy buffaloes having more than 400 days interval. Analysis using Pearson Chi-square test revealed that calving to conception rate > 110 days has a moderate negative relationship with system of breeding (-0.501; p = 0.018) while the conception interval <110 days has strong positive correlation with feeding frequency (-0.641; p = 0.025) Breeding management and feeding management were identified to be contributory components. The PET was manually cut into sizes smaller than 20 x 20 mm but greater than 10 x 10 mm, while the coconut shells cracked using a hammer into sizes passing sieve size of 25.4 mm. This study was narrowed to 50% replacement of conventional coarse aggregate with varying percentages of coconut shells and PET from 0%, 10%, 20%, 25%, 30%, 40%, to 50%, leading to four (4) different mixes labeled a, A, B, and C respectively. A slump test was carried out on the fresh concrete mix to ensure its workability while density, compressive strength, and water absorption tests were carried out on the various samples with different percentage replacements of coconut shells and PET. The workability of concrete with CCS and PET ranges from 60-90 mm, observing that the inclusion of CCS and PET in concrete does not significantly improve or reduce the workability of concrete. Furthermore, with the density ranging from 2,400 to 2,800 kg/m³, all samples can be used as normal-weight concrete. Then, a mix percentage of 50% gravel, 40% crushed coconut shells, and 10% PET (sample C) gave a compressive strength value of 6.01 MPa with an observation that the increase in the proportion of replacement of CCS and decrease in the proportion of PET escalates the compressive strength of concrete. Sample C also obtained a water absorption capacity of 6.52, indicating a more desirable durability characteristic. It was concluded that sample C, in terms of workability, durability, and effectiveness, suitable for general is construction purposes although its compressive strength did not meet the standard of M15 (1:2:4) to reach 15 MPa. It can be used for plain cement concrete work such as leveling courses, bedding for footing, strip footing, and other minor concrete works in general. The study described the organ shape, color and as well the texture of the internal organs The tubular shape was noted in esophagus, crop, proventriculus and intestines. The irregular shape was mamly seen in the gizzard and lungs. The kidney and pancreas were commonly elongated shaped. The heart is triangularly shaped. The testes were bean-shaped, and infundibulum is funnel shaped. These qualitative characteristics are generally normal with other poultry breeds. Meanwhile, various color patterns were observed in the serosa and mucosa of different organs, ranging from shades of pink, cream, and brownish hues to white, yellow, orange, and greenish hues. Furthermore, most of the organs exhibit smooth or muscular textures, with a few exceptions, like the rough textures of the cloaca/vent and trachea, as well a few samples of the duodenum and jejunum. The colors of the visceral fats include yellow and pale yellow and cream. These colors vary according to their diet that contains carotene. Moreover, the organ weight, length, width, and luminal diameter were quantitively measured and expressed in grams for weight and in millimeters for length, width and luminal diameter. The male chickens generally exhibit larger organ sizes and heavier weights compared to the females. This was observed in organs such as the esophagus, crop, proventriculus, gizzard, intestines, trachea, lungs, and as well the heart. Accurate landslide susceptibility mapping is crucial for effective risk management and mitigation strategies. This study aimed to generate an enhanced landslide susceptibility map for the municipality of Sta. Fe, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines, using Geographic Information System (GIS) and the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). The study examined the relationship between landslide occurrence and various causative factors, including slope, elevation, soil type, land cover, distance from roads and rivers, and rainfall. The primary five contributing factors were identified, and their relative weights were determined using the AHP. The enhanced landslide susceptibility map was then generated by integrating these factors. The results revealed that slope (35%) and rainfall (23.56%) were the most influential factors, followed by soil type (15.38%), land cover (9.75%), and elevation (7.21%). The enhanced map classified the study area into four susceptibility classes: very low, low, moderate, and high. Approximately 7,330.41 hectares were identified as highly susceptible, 8,469.94 hectares as moderately susceptible, 5,847.56 hectares as low susceptible, and 2,171.32 hectares as very low susceptible to landslides. Like many other mountainous places, the municipality of Quezon has also experienced landslides, resulting in fatalities, injuries, and property destruction. Hence, this study was conducted to generate an enhanced landslide susceptibility map using a GIS-based spatial multicriteria approach. Seven causative factors, including slope, rainfall, soil type, land cover, elevation, distance from the road, and distance from the river, were selected for the present assessment. An enhanced landslide susceptibility map was generated by integrating AHP and GIS techniques and was categorized into four susceptibility classes: very low, low, moderate, and high. The result presented in the study illustrates that there was a disparity between the two maps. The enhanced map shows a more detailed representation of truly vulnerable areas. Specifically, 3589.64 hectares are identified as very low susceptible, 5690.36 hectares are low susceptible, while 5993.09 hectares and 5792.80 hectares are categorized as moderately and highly susceptible to landslides. The results presented in the study indicate that Barangay Maasin, Runruno, and Calaocan, and some parts of Maddiangat, Baresbes, Buliwao, and Darubba, are identified as at high-risk areas. On the other hand, Barangay Dagupan and Bonifacio are at moderate risk, while Barangay Nalubbunan, Caliat, and Aurora are at low risk. The municipality of Kayapa has seen landslides, just like many other hilly areas, which have caused lives, injuries, and property damage. Therefore, the purpose of this work was to use a GIS-based spatial multicriteria approach to create an improved map of landslide susceptibility. For the current assessment, seven causal elements were chosen, that include elevation, land cover, rainfall. slope, road distance, and river distance. Four susceptibility classes low, moderate, high and very high were identified on the enhanced landslide susceptibility map that resulted from the integration of AHP and GIS methodologies. The enhanced map provides a more detailed representation of the places that are actually susceptible. The data indicates that 7288.12hectares are classified as low susceptible, 14138.65 hectares as moderate susceptible, 16525.27 hectares as highly susceptible, and 11618.47 hectares as very highly susceptible to landslides. The result presented in the study indicate that Barangay Balete, Cabayo, Latbang and other part of Barangay Banao, Pinayag, Nansiakan, and Buyasyas are identified as high-risk areas while some parts of Barangay Lawigan, Kayapa Proper West, Talecabcab, Acacia, Amelong Labeng, Ansipsip, Baan, Balangabang, Banao, Besong. Binalian, Buyasyas, Cabalatan Alang, Cabanglasan, Castillo Village, Kayapa Proper East, Lawigan, Mapayao, Pampang, Pingawan, Pinkian, San Fabian, Tidang Village, and Tubongan are classified as low-risk areas. Additionally, the field survey and geotagging validation provide positive findings, meaning that the verified spots match the susceptibility levels on the improved LSM. The improved LSM is a useful tool for disaster preparedness since it allows local government agencies to put specific policies in place to reduce the danger of landslides, particularly in high-risk areas. Traditional construction materials pose significant environmental challenges, with the abundance of coconut waste exacerbating these concerns. Addressing this issue requires innovative solutions that not only mitigate environmental impact but also offer cost-effective alternatives. Leveraging an extensive review of existing literature, this study examines the mechanical properties, structural performance, and environmental sustainability implications of utilizing coconut shells in construction applications. The literature review underscores the potential of coconut shells as promising alternatives to traditional aggregates, emphasizing their lightweight and porous characteristics, which contribute to concrete weight reduction. Furthermore, experiments have demonstrated that coconut shells, when combined with other reinforcing materials, can enhance the mechanical robustness of concrete structures. However, concerns persist regarding the long-term durability and structural integrity of coconut-based concrete, necessitating further investigation into its performance across diverse construction applications and environmental conditions. The experimental phase of this research adopts a rigorous approach to evaluate the compressive strength of concrete samples containing varying proportions of coconut shells. Findings reveal a notable reduction in compressive strength compared to conventional concrete mixtures, particularly with increasing coconut shell content. Despite this observed reduction, the study highlights potential cost savings and environmental benefits associated with the use of coconut shells as additives. Recommendations for future research include exploring alternative curing methods, assessing long-term durability, and collaborating with industry experts to ensure practical application and adherence to industry standards. In summary, this research contributes to the advancement of sustainable construction practices by offering insights into the viability of coconut shells as a viable alternative in the quest for eco-friendly building materials. The fibers' high tensile strength, flexibility, and capacity to distribute stress throughout the matrix of concrete suggest that they may significantly impact its Overall mechanical performance. The purpose of this study is determined whether adding textile waste fibers with a uniform length of 6 inches in concrete will enhance compressive strength of concrete contributing in improving its structural integrity under bending loads. From a thorough analysis of data collected and results obtained from the laboratory, the following significant findings are summarized. Concerning concrete's compressive strength, using textile waste fiber as an additive revealed incredibly strong results. Samples with 0% textile waste fiber from 7, 14 and 28 days was noted to be smaller than those samples with textile waste fiber. With 100% of textile waste fiber, sample F314 attained the highest compressive strength, reaching its maximum compressive strength of 8.78 MPa with an outstanding axial load of 71.15 KN. Comparing the to the control sample with lowest attained compressive strength, it shows an increase of 62.30% in compressive strength. The researchers thus draw a conclusion that the textile waste fiber when added to concrete cement in different percentage of 25, 50, and 100% of textile fibers in different treatment days such as seven (7), fourteen (14) and twenty-eight (28) days, the most acceptable duration is fourteen (14) days with 100% textile waste fiber added, thus exceeding the compressive strength of all control and other samples with textile waste fiber. | Research paper (Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering - Structural Engineering) 28 cm..

Place hold on Enhancing structural integrity: investigating the impact of textile waste fiber addition on the comprehensive strength of concrete/

Civil works construction project management and cost estimation of a proposed modernized modal terminal with two-storey commercial stalls/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Casticimo, Jessa Mae P..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2024 .
ix, 117 leaves : , Transportation plays a crucial role in shaping modern society, serving lifeblood that connects people, communities, and economies. The research focused on the compressive strength and flexural strength of the concrete samples with varying volumes of taro fibers. Experimental analyses are conducted to assess the impact of taro fiber reinforcement on the strength and characteristics of concrete structures. The experiments entail three distinct groups, each subjected to varying curing periods. Within each group. three specimens undergo different fiber loadings for both flexure and compression tests, alongside a control group featuring plain concrete. This methodology yields a total of 12 beams molded into a 15cm x 15cm x 50cm form for flexural tests and 12 cylinders molded into a 10cm diameter x 20cm height form for compression tests. Results showed a higher compressive strength compared to standard concrete mixture with sample B-3 (30Occ of taro fiber), and C-3 (450cc of taro fiber) recording a value of 10.93 MPa and 16.45 MPa which are 2.24% and 53.88% respectively higher than the control. However, the sample D-3 (600cc of taro fiber) has a lower compressive strength of 8.4 MPa compared to control with 10.69 MPa which is 21.429% decreased from standard concrete mixture. Corresponding to the flexural strength, all samples B-3(300cc of taro fiber), C-3(450cc of taro fiber), and D-3 (600 cc of taro fiber) have a higher flexural strength than the control having a value of 2.91 MPa, 2.74 MPa, and 3.00 MPa, respectively. Sample D-3 with 600cc of taro fiber has the highest flexural strength of 3.00 MPa which is 32.15% higher than the control. The said results were taken from the 28th day of curing. The study involved creating five mixtures of cylindrical molds, with varying coconut husk fiber weights in different days of curing, 14 and 28 days: 0 gram (Control), 25 grams (Mixture A), 50 grams (Mixture B), 75 grams (Mixture C), and 100 grams (Mixture D). The samples were tested using Universal Testing machine (UTM) to obtain their compressive strength. based on the result, samples with 0 gram of coconut husk-fiber from 14 and 28 days were noted to be smaller than those samples with coconut husk-fiber. With 75 grams of coconut husk-fiber, sample Mixture C from 28 days of curing attained the highest compressive strength, reaching its maximum compressive strength of 22.89 MPa with an outstanding axial load of 185.61 kN. Comparing it to the control sample on the same day of curing revealed an 86.32 percent in the compressive strength of sample Mixture C. The compressive strength decreased to Mixture D both 14 and 28 days of curing despite an increase in coconut husk-fiber weight compared to Mixture C. The findings revealed that adding coconut husk fibers considerably increased the strength and workability of the concrete but there's an optimal weight for maximizing compressive strength, beyond which further additions may not yield significant improvements or have negative effects. Eggshells, rich in calcium carbonate and readily available, are viable admixtures for concrete. This research presents an experimental investigation of chicken eggshell (Gaius Gallus Domesticus) waste materials as admixtures for plastering. The researchers conducted a manual application experiment by preparing different batches of plaster mixture with varying proportions of eggshell admixture, which aims to determine whether it is possible for aesthetic purposes. The observations of the characteristics of the applied plaster mixture with eggshell admixture include visible cracks seen in the applied plaster after 24 hours of drying and 7 days of curing. A normal cement mixture as the baseline shows minimal cracks. The cement mixture with 2kg (5%) eggshell admixture shows minimal cracks. The cement mixture with 4kg (10%) eggshell admixture shows moderate cracks. The cement mixture with 6kg (15%) eggshell admixture shows cracks compared to the other three mixtures. Aesthetically, higher concentrations of eggshell particles compromise the plaster's visual appeal. The study reveals that incorporating crushed eggshells into plaster mixtures can improve crack resistance to a certain extent. Mixtures containing up to 10% eggshells strike an optimal balance, enhancing durability without compromising the plaster's structural integrity or aesthetic appeal. Therefore, for practical applications, it is recommended that the eggshell content in plaster mixtures should not exceed 10% to ensure both functional and visual benefits. Three dimensions consist of the dependent variable which were nature of work, social status, and commitment to work. Respondents' profiles were also sought. Hence, test of differences was carried out to determine significant results when respondents were grouped according to profile variables and compared to the three dimensions. This study was conducted last November 2023. There were 151 respondents randomly selected from the list provided by the university registrar. Students were informed and participation was voluntary. Majority of the students belonged to the Gen Z, typical of college students. Females dominate the respondents and most of them were freshmen students who belonged to lower middle-class family based on their parents monthly income. The majority belonged to a small size household who were primarily Ilocano. Overall, in terms of their perception the respondents were convinced to work and see their possible future in working in the tourism industry. Social status drives them to pursue the tourism course while at the same time we're keen to work at the industry as they have the passion and are committed to pursue working as tourism professionals. But most of them were uncertain of their employability and confidence as it is affected by biases about tourism professionals and unjust work ethics which cram in the industry. Social status or prestige affects the students mindset in working in the tourism industry. It also affects their commitment especially in the formative years and even in their senior years. These casual dining restaurants were found to practice safety measures in handling food, equipment, and utensils. All the participant restaurants produced fruit wastes, meat, poultry, seafood, dairy product wastes, cooked food leftovers, and uncooked grains. Seven out of nine restaurants also produced vegetable scraps and teabags, six restaurants produced expired packaged goods and four restaurants produced other food wastes among others. Most respondents claimed to use the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle food waste strategy except for food donation. Correlation study suggested that SDG profiles did not have significant correlation to food safety and waste management practices except the positive correlation of employee's Educational Attainment to the practice of Safety Measures in Equipment and Utensils, and the inverse correlation of the years of employment to the practice of Safety Measures in Food. Meanwhile, the casual dining restaurants" profiles were correlated to their food safety and waste management practices. The restaurant's type of ownership had an inverse correlation to the practice of Reusing Food Waste while the size of the business had a direct relationship with Food Safety Measures.
