The study was laid out in a randomized control block design with three (3) treatments containing six (6) replicates with one (1) piglet per replicate. T1 served as control with 0% POM supplementation; T was supplemented with 1% (10 grams POM/kg feed) POM and T3 was supplemented with 3% (30 grams POM/kg feed) POM Results showed no significant differences in the mean weights among the treatments on days 28, 35, 42, 49, 56 and 63 Treatment 3 showed better performance against Treatments 1 and 2 in terms of gain in weight, average daily gain (ADG) and feed conversion ratio (FCR) (p<0.05), whereas, no differences were observed between Treatments 1 and 2 in terms of gain in weight, ADG and FCR. Treatments 2 and 3 showed significant reduction of diarrhea incidence during the second week of experiment compared to the control group. At third week, only the control group exhibited diarrhea incident Treatments supplemented with pulverized oyster mushroom had higher percentage of having normal stool consistency with the scores ranging from 1 to 2 compared to the control group. In terms of profitability, Treatments 2 and 3 have greater net of sales with P766.2 and P1,589. 72 respectively, then Treatment 1 with P627.43. In conclusion, supplementation of 3% pulverized oyster mushroom on the diets positively affects the growth performance, diarrhea incidence, stool consistency and profitability. We recommend to the future researchers to extend supplementation until the third week of the experiment. Further, we recommend that a multiple dose experiment will be performed to see the accuracy of pulverized oyster mushroom being dose dependent. Finally, researchers should have separate study for the mycelium and fruiting body of the mushrooms to be able to identify which part has the greatest contribution on the growth performance and diarrhea incidence reduction. | Thesis (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) 28 cm. .

Place hold on Effects of pulverized oyster mushroom (pleurotus spp.) on the growth performance and diarrhea incidence of post-weaning piglets /

Factors associated to fresh graduates' employability in the hotel industry in Nueva Vizcaya/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Agpoon, Revelinda D..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2022 .
xiii, 39 leaves : , The primary goal of this research is to discover the factors that influence fresh graduates' employability in the hotel industry in Nueva Vizcaya. The samples were examined using direct microscopy and immunochromatographic assay. Direct microscopy revealed a prevalence of 55.36%, (62/112) while 34.8%, (39/112) were positive using immunochromatography. The prevalence is highest in age group of three to six months (65.62%) and lowest in group of one year to three years old (30.33%). Between sex, almost same percentage were infected in both male and female dogs at 56.14% and 54.54%, respectively. Among breeds with three entries, prevalence is highest in large breeds at 70% compared to medium breeds and small breeds at 65.22% and 47 07% Giardiasis is also more prevalent in dogs with no vaccination (73 33%), those that were not dewormed or deworming not updated at 66 66% and 63.63% respectively Co-infection with other pathogens either bacteria, parasitic, virus or combination was common and found at 62.9% of all cases. Several factors were found associated with Giardiasis in univariate analysis including age, breed, housing, water source, origin, but only three were confirmed as risk factors through multivariate logistic regression. The risk factors identified for giardiasis in this study are breed (OR:047 and 0.31), water source (OR:0.241) and origin (OR:0.392). As to agreement between the two tests used, microscopy and immunochromatography, there is a moderate strength of agreement between the two tests. Results of this study highlights the need for education and awareness campaign to promote responsible pet ownership practices, including regular veterinary visits, proper sanitation, and appropriate waste disposal. The study included 4 Treatment concentrations. Treatment 1 (negative control), Treatment 2 (0.5% ivermectin concentration), Treatment 3 (0.746% ivermectin concentration) and Treatment 4 (0.898% ivermectin concentration) Based on the result of the study, larvae in the treatment 4 exposed at 0898% ivermectin concentration showed susceptibility with restriction to ivermectin It is significantly different from the rest of the treatments. The larvae in the Treatment 3 with 0.746% ivermectin concentration predominantly showed emerging resistance to ivermectin, three of the municipalities (Aritao, Bambang. Bayombong) resulted emerging resistance to ivermectin while one municipality (Kasıbu) showed susceptibility with restriction to ivermectin Three of the municipalities in treatment 2 with the larvae exposed at 05% ivermectin concentration showed resistance (Aritao, Bambang, Bayombong) and one municipality (Kasibu) showed emerging resistance to ivermectin. Treatment I with 0% ivermectin concentration (negative control) indicated absence of deaths from the larvae due to the absence of ivermectin concentration impregnated in the paper packets. As the concentration of ivermectin increases, the percentage mortality is also increased In Kasibu, resistance was not seen in any level of the ivermectin concentrations, thus ivermectin is still highly effectively, and can still be used as an effective means in controlling the larvae of Rhipicephalus microplus. This indicate that these antimicrobials are still effective to treat Campylobacter infections. The prevalence results in our study revealed that public wet markets can be sources of chicken meat contaminated with Campylobacter spp. Possible risk factors observed in this study associated with contamination are type of meat vehicle, source of water, and storage of meat. In the Philippines, where consumption of chicken meat is widespread, Campylobacter spp. contamination could pose a potential risk to public health, therefore, more inspection controls should be established by local government for retail meat shops to bring down level of contamination. | Thesis (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) 28 cm..

Place hold on Prevalence of campylobacter spp. contamination in retail chicken meats sold in the selected public markets of Nueva Vizcaya/

A preliminary study on the knowledge, attitudes, and practices towards rabies in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya /
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Asuncion, Jenny L..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2022 .
xi, 43 leaves : , A survey of 390 respondents was undertaken in Bayombong. Nueva Vizcaya using a structured questionnaire to evaluate the knowledge, attitude, and practices (KAP) of dog owners towards rabies. Among the demographic variables, only the areas of education for knowledge and practice, settlement for both attitude and practice, number of households for knowledge, and number of dogs for practice were significantly associated with mean KAP scores. Those respondents who had higher education tends to have a better attitude and practice towards rabies. Also, participants who are residing in urban areas have higher attitude and practice scores compared to those who are from rural settlements. Lastly, participants who have higher number of household and of dogs were more likely to have higher scores in knowledge and practice, respectively. The correlation between the knowledge, attitude, and practice scores revealed significant positive linear correlations between knowledge-attitude, knowledge-practice, and attitude-practice Attitude and practices are directly proportional to knowledge. Despite the respondents having a high score in both areas of knowledge and attitude, vital information regarding rabies are still lacking. To address the gaps regarding rabies, community awareness through a more intensive information dissemination campaign should be done on a regular basis. | Thesis (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) 28 cm..

Place hold on A preliminary study on the knowledge, attitudes, and practices towards rabies in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya /

Prevalence and antibiotic resistance profile of salmonella spp. in chicken meats sold at selected public markets in Nueva Vizcaya/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Nueva, Marie Gel S..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2022 , The study was conducted using cross-sectional design to determine the prevalence and antimicrobial susceptibility of Salmonella spp. in retail chicken meats collected from selected municipal public markets of Nueva Vizcaya, including Solano, Bayombong Bambang and Bagabag Simple random sampling was used to select a total of 100 chicken meat samples from five randomly selected vendors selling chicken in the selected public markets The samples collected consist of neck, wings, breasts, thigh and drumstick Semi-conventional technique was employed using VIDAS SLM and VITEK 2 system to isolate and identify Salmonella spp. in the chicken meat samples Overall prevalence rate of Salmonella spp was found at 41% (41/100) Bambang public market attained the highest prevalence of contamination rate of 44% (11/25), while the three other markets have the same prevalence rate of 40% (10/25) The chicken part with the highest rate of contamination was observed in the wings having the prevalence rate of 55% (11/20), followed by the neck part at 50% (10/20) The Salmonella spp. isolates were subjected to broth microdilution using VITEK 2 system and Sensititre for antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) All the isolates showed resistance to at least one of the antimicrobials tested. Highest percentage resistance was observed to azithromycin (100%). Additionally, isolates show high resistance to streptomycin (95 12%) and gentamicin (51.22%). However, no isolates were found resistant to meropenem. Almost half of the total isolates (20 of 41) (48.78%) are multidrug-resistant (MDR) having resistance to three to seven antimicrobial classes. The results of the present study reveal a high contamination rate of Salmonella spp. in the chicken meats sold in the public markets of Nueva Vizcaya and that public wet markets are likely source of multi-drug-resistant Salmonella spp. that can be potentially transmitted to humans through consumption of these contaminated meats. This study highlights the need to ensure proper handling and storage of meats from slaughter to the market to ensure that levels of contamination are minimized at these points until it reached the consuming public. There is also a need to strengthen the surveillance of antimicrobial usage in farms to ensure that antimicrobials are prudently used in animals. | Thesis (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine)

Place hold on Prevalence and antibiotic resistance profile of salmonella spp. in chicken meats sold at selected public markets in Nueva Vizcaya/

The ethno-veterinary practices of swine raisers in Aguinaldo, Ifugao/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Tucbo, Abriana T. .
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2022 .
xii, 45 leaves : , The study was conducted to document existing Indigenous practices on the management of diseases of swine raised in Aguinaldo, Ifugao. Findings revealed that the citrus actors' work classification is diverse. They comprised plantation owners, farmers and traders who have sufficient years of experience in the industry. The top-most distributed products consist of Satsuma, Ponkan and Szinkom oranges. They distribute the citrus products in the province and in other regions but very few of them export abroad. On social needs, most informants desire to sustain their literacy and training as it is a way to enhance their knowledge and competencies. The distribution of personal protective gears, medicine aids, hospitalization benefit and regular safety inspection make them more secure and safe. Accordingly, the industry has a socializing effect since it offers them and family members employment opportunities and creates in them greater social value in performing their functions. Along economic needs, the key players are optimistic about current public utilities but are still in need of internet service, sanitation for safety purposes, regular waste management, sanitation, environment-friendly and sustainable farming, withholding and filing of their taxes, purchase of health and safety materials, investment on juice processing, fertilizers and pesticides, as well as making accessible the trade centers, creating more spacious trade centers, more fruit stalls and processing centers as these could help sustain the industry. Most participants claimed that the industry has helped them economically in the form of stable incomes, additional source of income, a non-hazardous work environment and health benefits. This is done through applying both descriptive and inferential research approach towards the mechanism of the study. The descriptive part handled the evaluation of the intended motivational constructs while the quantitative part dealt the predictive analysis. The considered scales of the psychological needs support and satisfaction were autonomy, competence, and relatedness. On the other hand, the dimensions of dancing motivation were self-determination, usefulness of dance and enjoyment and effort. The study constructed a researcher-made demographic profiling tool and adapted pre-constructed questionnaire, that were assessed and validated by experts on the field, on basic psychological needs support and satisfaction and dancing motivation. The inferential analysis involved the usage a simple linear regression to determine whether demographic profiles act as predictors. A total of 598 participants became the primary source of data for the study coming from the different public high school institutions that offers the senior high school program in the province of Nueva Vizcaya. Results showed a high-level support provision and satisfaction of the basic psychological needs support and satisfaction respectively. Also, a high level of self-determination, usefulness of dance and enjoyment and effort were observed. Further analysis revealed that sex and ethnic background were the primary predictors of both dancing motivation and the basic psychological needs. Significant differences were also observed from such profiling elements. It employed the descriptive-inferential design and was conducted at the Schools Division of Quirino employing the stratified proportional random sampling, Slovin formula and fishbowl technique. This study utilized a content-validated survey questionnaire to gather the needed data. The result of the Phil-IRI pretest and post-test of the pupils served as secondary sources of this study. A letter of permission in the conduct of this study was secured from the Superintendent of the Schools Division of Quirino. Descriptive Statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation were employed to describe the respondents' profile and level of extent usage the teachers' reading intervention. Inferential Statistics such as t-test, f- test, Tukey post hoc test, and correlation procedure were computed to determine the association between and among the variables. The study site was dominated by both male and female pupils who were in their late childhood stage. The intermediate levels have almost equal number of pupils who are 2nd-born and have hailed from households with a monthly income that was low but not poor, as well as a lower middle family income. The pupils' parents are holders of diplomas from basic education, higher education and advanced education. The specified reading interventions were used on a regular basis by all teachers in the intermediate grades, confirming their efficiency in enhancing students' reading skills. In the Phil-IRI pretest, a large percentage of pupils demonstrated frustration and instructional reading competency, with only a few showing independent reading proficiency. In the Phil-IRI post test, a large percentage of intermediate learners were at the instructional and independent levels, but none were at the frustration level. In general, the pupils demonstrated instructional reading proficiency. The intensity to which teachers utilize reading interventions is unaffected by pupils' grade levels, therefore teachers could use reading interventions irrespective of their pupils' grade level. Pupils whose parents have earned graduate degrees demonstrated independent reading proficiency in the Phil-IRI pretest. When students are inspired by parents with advanced degrees, their reading proficiency improves in the Phil-IRI post-test.In both the pretest and post-test scores, the pupil's reading proficiency improved, but the level of their reading proficiency remained instructive.Irrespective of the reading intervention implemented by the teachers, the pupils' reading proficiency stays at the instructional level. Two types of sensors namely resistive and capacitive soil moisture sensors were calibrated. Tomato crop was used in evaluating the calibrated sensors in terms of soil moisture reading reliability, growth and yield, and simple cost analysis. The result of the study showed that the calibration curve for the capacitive sensor was y = 1068.5e-0.032x with r2 = 0.9424 while for the resistive sensor y = 327.27e -0.016x with r2 = 0.9778 On both equation; y represents sensor reading, x represents the percent soil moisture content, and r represents the coefficient of determination. The soil moisture reading reliability test conducted for the calibrated resistive sensor showed that during the early growth of tomatoes until its vegetative stage, the sensors reading was significantly different to the soils actual moisture. The recorded resistive sensor soil moisture reading at early growth and vegetative stage were 43.05% and 24.45%, respectively; while their corresponding actual soil moisture were 17.31% and 15.69%, respectively. For the capacitive sensor, the soil moisture reading differs significantly to the actual soils moisture on the early stage only. The recorded capacitive sensor soil moisture reading at early growth was 22.41% with an equivalent actual soil moisture of 34%. The total applied water for the manual irrigation, resistive, and capacitive sensor-based automatic irrigation were 0.11784m3, 0.10056m3 and 0.08393m3 respectively. Despite the lower water volume applied for automatic irrigation system, the analysis of variance showed no significant difference on the tomato plants growth and yield performance as compared to the manual irrigation. The ROI for the manual irrigation was 2.31%. For the capacitive and resistive sensor-based automatic irrigation the same ROI of 5.39% was computed. The payback period for the manual irrigation was 43 croppings. For the capacitive and resistive sensor-based automatic irrigation, they have an equal calculated payback period of 19 croppings. The computed BEP for the manual. capacitive and resistive sensor-based automatic irrigation were ₱45.86, ₱17.53, and ₱18.08. respectively. The capacitive sensor-based automatic irrigation was determined as the best irrigation method. The capacitive sensor soil moisture reading performs better as compared to the resistive sensor. The capacitive sensor-based automatic irrigation also has the least amount of water being applied compared to the manual and resistive sensor-based automatic irrigation having no significant effect on the tomatoes growth and yield. In terms of cost analysis, the capacitive sensor-based automatic irrigation has a higher ROI, and a lower payback period and BEP as compared to the manual irrigation making it the best recommended irrigation method to be used. | Thesis (Master of Science in Agricultural Engineering - Soil and Water Management) 28 cm..

Place hold on Calibration and evaluation of commercially available soil moisture sensors for automatic irrigation system/

Stress management among public high school teachers/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Santocildes, Frances M..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2022 .
xv, 154 leaves : , When confronted with a difficult situation everyone experiences stress. Teachers serve a critical role in any country's educational system. Stress has a negative impact on teachers’ performance by affecting individual's productivity as well as the educational institution. This research described the profile of teachers; identified their level of stress; determined their personal coping mechanism; identified their level of coping mechanisms; determined the significant correlation between profile and level of stress; determined the significant correlation between profile and personal coping mechanism; and recommended wellness program. This study is a descriptive-correlation type of research. Stress of teachers usually originates from their subjects handled. Teachers often feel stress due to their heavy workloads because aside from their teaching task, they still have additional workloads given or assigned to them like doing administrative works. They have given short time to compute students' grades wherein they cannot do it if students do not submit their activities or outputs on time, and also, they still do their work at home which gives them less time to be with their family. Another stressor to teachers is their relationship with their students because it mostly instigated from the students refusing to complete their given work in their modules which would lead for teachers not having activities to check and record. This is also brought by lack of parental involvement in disciplining their child and eventually could lead to getting low performance in the school. Teachers personally combat tension and anxiety by relying on their inner strength through their strong belief that God will help them solve their problems. They also open up to friends to solicit their advice or going to places where they can relax and overcome their stress. Older teachers, those who have rendered more years in teaching, those whose specialization are in science, and those teaching multi-grade levels have suffered more stress. The personal coping mechanisms used by the teachers, regardless of their profile, are similar. High school teachers who have acquired more relevant experiences in teaching manifested more resiliency and higher tolerance to the stress coming from their dealings with management. To lessen the stress of high school teachers, their workloads should be reduced by minimizing the subjects handled given to the teachers. It should be done systematically and evidence-based. A proper and rigorous time-use study can provide a clear picture of which types of work are necessary to be delegated to teachers and which have to be eliminated from their workload. Strength to combat stress could be developed over the years, hence, younger high school teachers should do well to learn strategies of their seniors in combating stress. A total of 1,158 rainfed farm sites were located with an area of 2,678.75 hectares as 627.844 m² or 0.06278 hectares was the lowest area located and 57.4577 hectares as the largest area. And among the 2,678.75 hectares, rice was the most located with an area of 1,410.48 hectares, followed by corn with an area of 874.05 hectares and 394.21 hectares for other commodities. Considering the restricted areas in land cover, protected areas, slope and elevation, only 2,054.6 hectares were suitable in the said restricted areas. This study used the application and combination of the geographic information system (GIS) and multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) technique, specifically the analytical hierarchy process (AHP). The following criteria were used in this study: a) technical criteria (average annual temperature and global horizontal irradiance); b) economic criteria (proximity to open water source, irrigation systems and roads), and c) environmental criteria (groundwater availability, slope, and elevation). The relative weights of defined criteria were determined by applying analytical hierarchy process (AHP) technique). Anonang, Cordon, Isabela from March to July 2022. Based on initial testing, it has been confirmed that the water of the lagoon is contaminated with high level of Manganese averaging to 0.6 mg/L. Acclimatization of floating macrophytes was performed for 14 days. The plants were acclimatized with different treatments, water hyacinth acclimatized in the mixture of carrageenan extract and tap water (T1), water hyacinth acclimatized in pure tap water (T2), water lettuce acclimatized in pure tap water (13), and water lettuce acclimatized with mixture of carrageenan extract and tap water (T4). After the acclimatization period, the experiment on actual phytoremediation was set-up in the shallow part of Anonang lagoon for 9 days. The result showed that water hyacinth and water lettuce acclimatized within 14 days with both kind of bio stimulant are excellent in removing 100% of total Manganese in just three days of phytoremediation. The manganese uptake of both aquatic plants with bio stimulant shows no significant different with each other. All treatments evaluated in this study were all excellent accumulator of manganese on their body parts. In terms of metal uptake, RGR and BCF value, TI yielded the highest metal uptake of 115.96 mg/kg. RGR of 0.114 g/g day and BCF of 193.26 mg/kg/mg/L. The water hyacinth acclimatized with mixture of carrageenan extract and tap water (TI) is the most favorable interaction to be recommended for 3-day phytoremediation of Manganese contaminated water but all the treatments evaluated in this study can be used as they all excelled in manganese removal efficiency. Carrageenan extract can be used as bio stimulant for increasing the relative growth rate of plants to be used on phytoremediation but economically, pure tap water can also be used for acclimatization of plants as they both inhibited excellence in manganese removal efficiency. | Thesis (Master of Science in Agricultural Engineering - Soil and Water Management) 28 cm..

Place hold on Phytoremediation experiment on the in-situ performance of acclimatized-floating macrophytes on manganese-contaminated lagoon at Brgy. Descriptive research is employed to describe the descriptive variables of this study while inferential research determines the association among variables. This study was conducted among the central and integrated schools of the Schools Division of Quirino with 663 pupils and 327 teachers as subjects of this study. A survey questionnaire was administered to gather pertinent data that substantiated the theme of this study. The permanent record of the pupils served as a secondary source of data for their academic performance. Ethical standards were observed before the administration of the research questionnaire. Descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentages, means, and standard deviations were employed to describe the profile of the respondents, the teachers' level of effectiveness of extrinsic motivational practices, and pupils' level of academic performance. Inferential statistics such as f-test, correlation procedure, and multiple regression were computed to determine the association among variables. Female teachers in their middle adulthood with family responsibilities dominated the study site. A preponderance of them is Ilocanos with Master's degrees who hold Teacher III Plantilla items. Most teachers have been in the teaching profession for I a decade. When delivering external motivational practices to their pupils to engage them in the teaching-learning process and promote positive learning, teachers exceedingly give greater attention to classroom management, teacher-pupil interactions, and learning activities. Learners perform admirably in Science, Filipino, and Mathematics while displaying a decent performance in English. In general, pupils did exceptionally well in their academic endeavors, that is, when learners are suitably extrinsically motivated by teachers, they have excellent academic results. There is no link between the use of teacher’s extrinsic motivational practices and the level of academic performance of learners. Sex and dimensions of teachers' motivational practices such as classroom management, incentive systems, teacher-pupil interactions, pupil-pupil relationships, and learning practices are determinants of teachers' competence in extrinsic motivational practices. Pupil-pupil relationships and learning practices prevailed as the best predictors of teachers' extrinsic motivational practices. Results of the study showed that supplementation of different levels of DFAM did not affect the growth performance of birds in weeks 1 and 2. However, during weeks 3, 4 and 5, variable results in terms of the performance were observed. At the end of the trial, birds given 10% and 15% DFAM had significantly lesser total feed consumption and comparative FCR with the animals given commercial feeds. Organoleptic exam of broiler meat showed that the birds in all treatments are comparable in general acceptability but have variable acceptability in terms of aroma, tenderness, and juiciness with the animals given different levels of DFAM scoring higher than the birds given commercial feeds. Serum cholesterol levels of birds supplemented with DFAM had significantly lower levels at day 28 compared with the negative and positive controls. In terms of profitability, supplementation with 0% to 10% DFAM resulted in the highest return above feed cost. | Thesis (Master of Science - Animal Science) 28 cm..

Place hold on Feeding value and hypocholesterolemic effect of dried fermented azolla (azolla pinnata) meal in broilers/

Water filtration system utilizing locally available materials/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Munggiho, Delia O. .
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2022 .
xi, 93 leaves : , The study was primarily undertaken to developed and evaluate the performance of water filtration system for treating and improving river water quality. Specifically, it sought: (a) to develop a water filtration system utilizing coconut shell charcoal, carbonized rice hull, wood charcoal, sand, and gravel, (b) to determine the water contaminant difference before and after passing through the filtration system; (c) to determine the removal efficiency of the various filter media considering total coliform bacteria, nitrate, total dissolved solids (TDS), and turbidity concentration. Results revealed that all the treatments applied in the study (wood charcoal, coconut shell charcoal, carbonized rice hull, and the charcoal combination) are efficient in total coliform bacteria removal in water. However, coconut shell charcoal filter gave the highest removal rate of 90% For the nitrate removal, the wood charcoal filter and coconut shell charcoal filter were found to be 43% efficient while the other treatments were found to be inefficient. For the total dissolved solid (TDS), all the treatments ineffectively reduced the TDS concentration of the river water indicated by the increased in TDS after passing through the filters. For turbidity removal, all the treatments applied (wood charcoal, coconut shell charcoal, carbonized rice hull, combination of charcoal) are efficient, having a removal rate of 96.74%, 93.00%, 87.53%, and 91.58% respectively. However, among these four treatments studied, wood charcoal gave the best performance for turbidity removal. Furthermore, all of the parameters that were used for the evaluation of the filtration system except for the total coliform bacteria passed the permissible limits set by government authorities on the usage of fresh water for livestock drinking. | Thesis (Master of Science in Agricultural Engineering - Soil and Water Management) 28 cm. .

Place hold on Water filtration system utilizing locally available materials/

Productivity of rice farming under the rice extension service program of higher education institution/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Pagaduan, Ju-Mark R. .
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2022 .
xiv, 125 leaves : , The study assessed the effectiveness of the rice extension service program (RESP) of a higher education institution (HEI) specifically the Cagayan State University (CSU) in terms of capability enhancement and productivity. Moreover, it determines the socio-demographic characteristic of the farmer trainee beneficiaries, level of awareness of the farmer trainee beneficiaries on rice extension service program of a higher education institution, dissemination and utilization rate of the HEI in terms of rice farming practices and technologies; effectiveness of the rice extension delivery strategies, effectiveness of the rice extension service program of the HEL. The data were gathered using structured survey questionnaire while the number of respondents was used to determine the sample size. Descriptive statistical was used in the analysis of quantitative data. Scaling technique, analysis of variance for the t-test and correlation and stepwise regression analysis were used in discussing results. A total of 187 trainees in the TVET Program of Cagayan State University serve as respondents and a quantitative method of research was used to gather data. The rice farmer-beneficiaries are aware of the RESP of HEL. There was a high dissemination rate on the rice farming technologies as component of the RESP. Extension facilitators were efficient and training facilities and training materials were available and a high utilization rate of all the rice farming technologies disseminated was observed. Rice extension delivery systems such as discussion, practical demonstration, technical briefing, IEC materials and radio programs, lectures, school-on-the-air (SOA) and SMS advisory are the most useful conveyors of the rice farming technologies to the rice farmer-beneficiaries. There was a highly significant difference between the rice productivity of the rice farmer-beneficiaries before and after the implementation of the program. It only means that the RESP made an impact in increasing the rice farmer's productivity. The result of high awareness, dissemination and utilization rates, completeness and availability of facilities, and efficient extensions workers, not all of the components of these variables had no significant relationship on the capability enhancement and rice productivity. It is noteworthy that rice productivity after the RESP significantly increased as compared to the productivity before the RESP. The few significant results such as utilization of rice key check technologies such as the use of high-quality inbred seeds, practice of synchronized planting, and post-harvest practices such as drying, cleaning and proper storage may have contributed to capability of the farmers to produce higher rice yields. | Thesis (Master of Science - Rural Development) 28 cm..

Place hold on Productivity of rice farming under the rice extension service program of higher education institution/

Organoleptic attributes and acceptability of bhaya (rice wine) with indigenous fruits in making fruit cake/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Pimentel, Emmanuel S. .
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2022 .
xii, 86 leaves : , The study was conducted to determine the organoleptic attributes and acceptability of Bhaya (rice wine) as substitute for the commercial wine with indigenous fruits as replacement of imported glazed fruits in fruitcake preparations. The experimental research design was utilized to determine the description, quality and general acceptability of fruitcakes in terms of color & appearance, texture, flavor & taste, and aroma. Four wine-fruits combinations were evaluated. Ten (10) food tasters/panelists were involved in the organoleptic and acceptability evaluation of the fruitcakes. The panelists evaluated two samples for each of the finished products in each treatment while maintaining the anonymity of where the sample fruitcakes were made of. The A test was used to determine if the wine-fruit combinations in the different treatments affected the description, quality and acceptability of the cupcakes. Result on the descriptive evaluation of the fruitcakes on color and appearance showed the light brown color of the experimental treatments compared to the color of the control's dark brown appearance. The texture of the fruitcake from the proportions of light bhaya with fruits (T2) and dark bhaya with fruits (T3) had the same dry and tough texture as the control (Ti). Only the combination of brandy with the two types of bhaya showed a soft and sticky texture. Light bhaya with indigenous fruit (T2) exhibited the same strong wine flavor as the control (Ti), while the other experimental treatments had a moderate wine flavor. The taste of the experimental treatments compared favorably with the control of having moderate sweet taste fruitcakes. As to the taste of significant differences on the descriptive evaluation of the finished products, the color and appearance and texture showed significant differences in the different treatments. However, as to flavor and taste, no significant differences were noted in the preparation of fruitcake. The desirability level on the quality of fruitcake showed that light bhaya (T₂) and the combination of brandy and bhaya (T4) produced dissemble fruitcakes in color and appearance, texture, flavor and taste among the experimental treatments. However, no significant differences were adjudged/observed among all the ingredient combinations in cake preparation. The result of the analysis revealed that the wine-fruit combinations of the study did not significantly affect the general acceptability of the finished fruitcakes and all were liked very much by the food evaluators. Rainfall is the most important climatic element in the Philippines and its distribution is varied through regions depending on the direction of the moisture-bearing winds and the location of the mountain systems The mean annual rainfall of the Philippines varies from 965 to 4,064 mm. Using temperature and rainfall as bases, the climate of the country can be divided into two major seasons: the rainy season, from June to November, and the dry season, from December to May. The dry season may be subdivided further into (a) cool dry season, from December to February, and (b) hot dry season, from March to May (PAGASA DOST, 2021). The Philippines is also a country richly endowed with natural resources, including abundant surface and groundwater resources. Its total internal water resource is estimated at 130. km/year. However, despite the vastness of this potential supply, the country has a low freshwater availability per capita and experiences water-related problems (Lapong & Fujihara, 2008). As reported by Icamina, (2017) the country, like all other Asian developing countries, has regions and times of year in which water for specific uses is scarce. Current projections of climate up to 2050 suggest the Philippines will become warmer, with increasing temperature and decreasing rainfall during the dry season and more extreme minfall events during the wet season. This will undoubtedly exacerbate both water availability during periods of drought and the magnitude of flood events during periods of heavy rainfall. In addition to water stresses from a changing climate, the population is expected to increase by around 50 percent up to 2050, with the urban population set to double over the same period. This will further exacerbate pressures on future water resources (British Geological Survey, 2021) According to Dikitanan et al. (2017), the development and implementation of strategies and interventions to respond to and build resilience to water scarcity, and climate variability must be done at all levels, especially at the basic unit. One of the most notable approaches in building resilience on the farm level is the adoption of on-farm water storage structures such as rainwater harvesting systems. Rainwater harvesting, in its broadest sense, is a technology used for collecting and storing rainwater for human use it is a good option in areas where good quality fresh surface water or groundwater is lacking. The application of appropriate rainwater harvesting technology is important for the utilization of rainwater as a water resource (Jhakar, et al, 2015) Also, within the context of scarce water resources for agriculture, rainwater harvesting constitutes a promising alternative that has been studied by different disciplines in recent years (Velasco Muñoz, et al., 2019). As stated by United Nations Environment Programmed (UNEP) International Environmental Technology Centre (2002) the collection process in rainwater harvesting involves various techniques such as the collection of water from rooftops and the land surface, as well as within watercourses. These techniques are widely used in Asia both for meeting drinking water supply needs and for irrigation purposes. | Thesis (Master of Science in Agricultural Engineering - Soil and Water Management) 28 cm..

Place hold on Rooftop rainwater harvesting system for domestic and irrigation purposes/

Phytoremediation potentials of biostimulant-acclimatized free-floating aquatic plants on manganese-polluted water/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Umhao, Laymar P. .
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2022 .
xiii, 96 leaves : , A large-scale mining operation in Barangay Anonang, Cordon, Isabela has left an abandoned open-pit which eventually formed an approximately two-hectare greenish colored lagoon. The water of the lagoon was asserted by this study to have been polluted with Manganese. The Manganese-polluted water from the lagoon was used to determine the phytoremediation potentials of water hyacinth, water lettuce, combination of duckweeds and azolla, and pure azolla acclimatized in tap water, Snap solution, and carrageenan. The study revealed that the water hyacinth and water lettuce acclimatized with tap water and carrageenan, and the combination of duckweeds and azolla acclimatized in Snap solution can grow under the Manganese polluted water. They can remove a maximum of 99.99% of manganese pollutants in three days, and were proved to be bioaccumulate of manganese pollutant-based form the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA). A total of 80 blood samples were collected from goats in five municipalities of Nueva Vizcaya. Samples collected were examined at the NVSU Fasciola Laboratory, College of Veterinary Medicine, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya. Descriptive statistics and backward stepwise logistic regression analyses were carried out to determine the prevalence and risk factors. The LAMP test revealed the presence of Fasciola gigantica with a prevalence of 76.25% in goats in Nueva Vizcaya. Two variables were identified to be risk factor of fasciolosis in this study including history of previous disease and soil type. The odds of having fasciolosis in goats is 25.631 times greater in goats that were not previously exposed to disease (p=0.001) compared to the goats who had history of illness. In terms of soil type (p=0.020), goats in sandy and loamy areas are more likely to be infected by fasciolosis than those from clay soil by 6.177, at the same time loamy areas are more likely to be infected with the disease by 9.293 compared to those in sandy areas. Data suggests a high endemicity of Pasciola gigantica in goats in Nueva Vizcaya and that management and control of snails, disease awareness and use of other effective anthelmintics would serve as prevention and control programs. And wherever possible, it is advised to avoid raising goats in loamy areas especially with poor drainage as this is a good environment for the intermediate host to thrive. | Thesis (Master of Science - Animal Science) 28 cm..

Place hold on Prevalence of fasciolosis using loop-mediated isothermal amplification (lamp) in goats (capra hircus) in Nueva Vizcaya and the associated risk factors of disease/

Digestibility and feeding value of fermented trichantera gigantea leaf meal in broiler diets/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Purazo, Kezaiah Ruth B..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2022 .
xix, 91 leaves : , The study evaluated the feeding value of Fermented Trichantera Leaf Meal (FTLM) using 150 day-old straight-run broilers in a 35-day feeding trial. The animals were assigned into 5 treatments using completely randomized design (CRD). The treatments were: T1-0%FTLM, T2-5%FTLM, T3-10%FTLM, T4-15%FTLM, and T5-Commercial feed. Diets in T1 to T4 were formulated to be isocaloric and isonitrogenous except for TS that is commercially produced in the locality and has their own formulation. Proximate analysis was performed on the fresh and fermented Trichantera to determine the effect of fermentation in the nutrient composition. The result significantly shows an increase in the calculated ME and decrease in the amount of fiber. Growth performance, dressing yield, nutrient utilization, and profitability was evaluated. It was found that animals given 5%FTLM had better final weight at 1177.00 g (p>0.0006), gain in weight at 1,137.10 g (p>0.0005), daily gain at 32.49 g/day (p>0.0006), and feed conversion ratio (FCR) at 1.63 (p0.0009) compared to other treatments. However, animals given 10% FTLM have better dressing percentage at 81.91% (p0.0000). It was also found that 15%FTLM have better fecal digestibility which is not utilized by the animal. Treatment 2 also had better profitability than other treatments because it had the least cost to gain ratio (Php 41.66) and highest return above feed cost (Php 129.90). The study used the descriptive-correlation type of research method through a structured questionnaire and qualitative approaches to gather pertinent data required in the study. The result of the study showed that the overall level of institutional support and development and the economic and social aspects under socioeconomic dimensions were qualitatively described as high which denotes that the services rendered, the performances of personnel assigned to the program, and the implementation of activities were commendable and had exceeded the expected results while slightly serious problems were rated on the problems and issues encountered by the recipients of the HYTA program, which meant that identified problems should be analyzed and strategies should be identified to address them. Failure to address the problems identified might lead to more serious problems in the future. Moreover, in testing whether there was a significant relationship between the profile variables and economic and social dimension of the HYTA program, the result showed that the economic and social dimension of the HYTA program was significantly correlated with the profile variables used in the study. Furthermore, in testing if there was a significant relationship between the institutional support and development and economic and social dimensions of the HYTA program, the institutional support and development component of the HYTA program, as well as the overall level of institutional support and development accorded to the recipients, positively and significantly correlated with the economic and social dimensions of the HYTA program implementation. It was based on the theory of production and was salient in determining the relationship between inputs used by the growers and their outputs expressed quantitatively. The respondents socioeconomic profile, production practices, and enabling and hindering factors they encountered were described using descriptive statistics. It was found out that growers were dominated by males, reached secondary school, had an average age of 54.52 years old with 7.26 years of farming experience. Results also showed that majority of growers were inclined in conventional farming which included the use of conventional fertilizers and pesticides. Flood irrigation and manual harvesting were also the most common practices of the respondents. Stochastic Frontier Analysis using Cobb-Douglas production function and Maximum Likelihood Estimates (MLE) method were employed in the study to analyze the production efficiency of calamansi growers. The result showed that most of the growers in Aurora, Isabela had a score of 0.72 which implied that they had an average efficiency, thus losing by 28 percent of produced. The variables that contributed to the efficiency of the growers include quantity of herbicides and fertilizers. The gap could still be attained considering that the factors affecting efficiencies and inefficiencies would be given solutions or interventions. However, the pandemic changed the global scenario. The new normal is the transforming essential aspects of human life based on the capacity to adapt without force. An example of this is the conformance of people to the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) protocols. This study described the business profile of accredited establishments in the tourism industry of Banaue, Ifugao; determined the interventions made; identified the extent of compliance with IATF protocols; identified the issues and concerns, and proposed strategies to strengthen the preparedness of the accredited establishments. The study utilized a descriptive-evaluative type of research. The result of the study revealed that the business establishments accredited by the Department of Tourism do not dwell on one kind of tourism product or service. Business establishments are focused based on their interests and forte. Business owners were skeptical about pandemic interventions in terms of marketing and financial management because they were not ready to use social media to promote their products/services and budget allocation for health and safety was not a priority for them. Generally, business establishments were compliant in following the IATF protocols. The pandemic had caused problems for business owners. As a result, they faced issues and concerns such as temporary closure, decreased income, and the layoff of some personnel. There are many uncontrollable factors in the business environment, such as the pandemic. The following suggestions might help business owners stay prepared at all times. Digitalization in business establishments may be adapted through contactless payments and services, virtual experiences, and real-time information provision. The manager or owner may set aside money from their sales so that whenever a pandemic happens again, they have contingency fund to finance unexpected expenses. The business establishment may acquire new and enhanced skills in managing from a distance, motivating employees towards a vision in the need of ambiguity, thus, providing calm and clarity, aligning work among team members building community. Further, the business may organize package deals that cater to the demands of visitors at a reasonable price because the experience of comfort and contentment is one way to advertise tourism, and the offering of wholesome vacation tours for a lower price is a way of promoting the business. | Thesis (Master of Management - Business Management) 28 cm..

Place hold on The tourism industry in Banaue, Ifugao in the new normal conformance to the iatf protocols/

Effects of indole butyric acid (iba) on the rooting of katmon (dillenia philippinesis rolfe) cuttings/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Querido, Kenn O. .
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2022 .
xiii, 86 leaves : , The impact of altering IBA concentration, cutting location, and the effect of treatment interaction on the survival, initiation, and development of katmon of (Dillenia philippinensis) cuttings was explored using an experimental design. Thus, the study had two phases. Phase I of the study was the root initiation of lipote cuttings that composed of ten treatments and laid-out in two factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD), wherein factor A were the two different growth hormones and factor B were the various concentrations. Each treatment was replicated four times with 8 cuttings per replication. Phase II of the study was the early growth of lipote rooted cuttings that were produced in Phase L. The lipote rooted cuttings were treated with different soil conditioners. The study had 5 treatments, replicated four times and 5 clones per replication. In Phase I, results revealed that the interaction between growth hormones and level of concentrations had a substantial effect on percent shooting and percent callusing of lipote rooted cuttings, but no significant differences were found on percent survival, percent rooting, number of adventitious roots, mean shoot length and number of shoots. For the effect of rooting hormones, it gave significant differences on shoot percentage and callus percentage. Analysis of variance also revealed significant differences on root length as affected by the concentrations of rooting hormones. The IBA treatment had better effect on root initiation, while Hormex treatment performed better on shoot parameters. In Phase II of the study, analysis of variance revealed significant differences on percent survival, chlorophyll content, shoot biomass, root biomass and total biomass as affected by different soil conditioners. It also forces the readers to organize their thoughts, including issues they may not be familiar with. Reading also plays a significant role in improving student academic performance. However, in 2018 the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) reported that the Philippines ranked last among 79 participating countries in reading. To address this issue, the Department of Education (DepEd) encourages teachers to create more contextualized and engaging supplementary reading materials for students. Thus, the researcher in this mixed-method study aimed to determine the reading attitudes, interests, habits, and material preferences of Junior High School (JHS) learners in a secondary school. Through random sampling, 344 JHS students of Solano High School as respondents participated in this study, and 12 informants were purposively selected for the in-depth interviews following the lens of a narrative inquiry approach. The respondents' reading interests and habits were determined using frequency count, percentage, distribution, and rank, while their reading attitude was described using the mean. The qualitative data were explored using two analyses: deductive content analysis and thematic analysis. Results revealed that Grades 7, 8, and 9 respondents used digital/online media in their reading literary selection tasks, whereas Grade 10 preferred print media. When the respondents are in school, books were their primary source of reading, while internet websites were used for reading outside of school. Qualitative data revealed that they used digital media such as audio-video and ebook formats when reading a literary piece assigned to them. Four themes emerged from the interview data: accessibility of the reading selection, easy-to-use reading materials, interactive features of the reading materials, and shareability of the reading materials. Findings may have pedagogical implications for all concerned members of the discourse community and stakeholders, such as establishing a state-of-the-art electronic library, developing educational programs to strengthen the library's roles and functions and revisiting existing policies on school libraries and reading corners, implementing reading awareness campaigns, and designing supplemental reading materials. | Thesis (Master of Arts in Teaching - English) 28 cm..

Place hold on Reading attitudes, interest, habits, and material preferences of junior high school learners towards the development of strategic intervention materials./

Reading strategies, multiple intelligences and reading literacy of junior high school students/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Uhuad, Kristine V. .
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2022 .
xi, 126 leaves : , Reading acts as a fundamental building block for learning in any academic topic, be it language, arts, sciences, or mathematics. In recent years, the study of the Multiple Intelligences has increasingly contributed to the development of related learning theories in recent years. Thus, reading strategies and multiple intelligences are considered to have a great effect on the learner's reading literacy. Considering other means of probing the present study, a descriptive-correlational method was utilized to investigate the possible interconnections among the reading strategies, multiple intelligences, and reading literacy of 285 Grade 7 students in Kayapa District. The researcher used three adopted research instruments, which are Metacognitive Awareness Reading Strategies Inventory (MARSI) for reading strategies, Multiple Intelligences Inventory (MII) for dominant multiple intelligence, and Reading Literacy tool for reading literacy. Pearson r statistical tool was used to determine the relationship of the respondents' reading strategies and multiple intelligences, while multiple regression analysis was applied to analyze which among the variables best predict the reading literacy of the respondents. Hence, the findings revealed that a.) the level of students' reading strategies used such as global, problem-solving and support were all considered to be of average level, b) majority of the respondents dominant multiple intelligence were visual, followed by kinesthetic, then intrapersonal strength, while the least strength of the respondents were musical and interpersonal strength, c.) the reading literacy of students in terms of locating information was categorized as average mastery, and for the understanding, and evaluating and reflecting were determined as low mastery, d.) the global reading strategies, visual and existential multiple intelligences were determined to be the best predictors of reading literacy.
