Specifically, the study determined the physicochemical properties of the different vermicompost’s, evaluated the effects of the different vermicompost’s on the growth of plug seedlings, determined the effect of the different vermicompost’s on the production of quality seedlings, and identified which among the treatments could influence the production of quality seedlings. The study was conducted from February 2021 to April 2021 in a greenhouse situated at the College of Agriculture Experimental Area of the Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU), Don Mariano Perez, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya. A 1:1:1 ratio of CD+BB+IP (T1), CD+BB+KK (T2), CD+BB+RS (T3), CD+BB+WH (T4), and GS, control (T5) was used following the Completely Randomized Design (CRD) on eggplant, tomato, and pepper that were separately set-up into A, B, and C, respectively. Each treatment was replicated three times. Physicochemical analyses and tissue analyses were done by the Department of Agriculture Regional Soils Laboratory in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga Results revealed that the different vermicompost’s, especially CD+BB+IP (T1) and CD+BB+KK (T2), have greatly affected the growth parameters of the seedlings, such as the number of leaves and stem diameter of eggplant, tomato, and pepper. Also, the aforementioned treatments affected the seedling height, fresh and dry shoot, and leaf color of tomato seedlings as well as the fresh and dry shoot and total leaf area of pepper seedlings. The shoot-to-root ratio was significant in eggplant and pepper seedlings but not in tomatoes. However, on the seedling emergence time (SET), seedling emergence rate (SER), and survival percentage (SS), the results were not significant for eggplant seedlings, but in tomato seedlings, a significant difference was noted for SET and SS. Moreover, SS was greatly affected by the different vermicompost’s in pepper seedlings, but no effect was noted for SET and SER parameters. In the tissue analyses of the different seedlings, high content of N and K was noted in the seedlings grown from CD+BB+IP, P from GS (eggplant) and CD+BB+RS (tomato and pepper), and Ca from CD+BB+IP (eggplant and tomato) and CD+BB+RS (pepper). Therefore, the production of quality organic seedlings can be improved by the combination of locally found substrates of CD+BB+IP and CD+BB+KK. | Thesis (Master of Science in Crop Science - Horticulture) 28 cm..

Place hold on Vermicompost produced from different substrates, a growing medium for quality organic vegetable seedlings/

Improving plug transplant quality through organic substate amendments/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Licyayo, Christie Lynette M..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2021 .
xx, 126 leaves : , The study was conducted to evaluate the growth performance of eggplant and tomato plug transplants as affected by various organic amendments and substrate volumes under Kiangan, Ifugao condition. Specifically, the study aimed to identify the optimum ratio of growing media for each crop through organic substrate amendments; to determine the optimum volume of the substrate mixture, to determine the best combination of substrate mixture and substrate volume, and to determine the interaction between the substrate ratio and substrate volume on the growth and quality of vegetable plug transplants. The study was arranged in a split-plot completely randomized design with three replications The ratio of organic substrate amendments, I part garden soil (GS) + 1 part rice straw compost (RSC) part GS + 1 part VC, 3 parts GS + 1 part VC; and 1 part GS +3 parts VC were designated as main-plot while the substrate volumes, 50 cc, 100 cc, and 150 cc, were designated as sub-plot. Based on statistical analysis, the optimum ratio of growing media for both the tomato and eggplant plug transplants is the composition of 3 parts GS + 1 part VC. It is evident that it significantly affected most of the growth and quality in terms of seedling height, stem diameter, root weight, root length, root length density, root weight density, leaf area, leaf number, percentage emergence and root to shoot ratio. The optimum volume for both the eggplant and tomato crops is 150 cc. Hence, it is concluded that the best combination among the treatments would be 150 cc of 3 parts GS + 1 part VC. On the other hand, the substrate ratio of the growing media affected the tomato plug transplants in terms of internode length, stem diameter, root weight, root length, root length density, root weight density, leaf number and true leaf emergence. With regards to the interaction of the ratio and volume of substrates, there is a varying effect on the growth and quality of eggplant plug transplants in terms of internode length, root length density, root weight density and true leaf emergence. | Thesis (Master of Science in Crop Science - Horticulture) 28 cm..

Place hold on Improving plug transplant quality through organic substate amendments/

Rural health unit decision-support system with mapping/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Tiongson, Joan Hazel V. .
Tuguegarao City, Cagayan: St. Paul University Philippines, 2021 .
v, 37 leaves : , In this highly challenging and demanding world, the presence of data and technology is overwhelming. The Rural Health Unit (RHU) of the Municipality of Solano, Nueva Vizcaya is currently using a manual system in terms of implementing medical services and patient profiling. A descriptive-developmental Interviews, research method, particularly observations, and document scanning, was conducted in order to gather data relevant to the objectives of the study. During the interviews, different problems on medical services were encountered in this manual method such as tedious work in assessing health conditions, difficulty in diagnosing, and high time consumption in backtracking previous health records. As regards patient profiling, there was difficulty in data processing because patient records were sifted from various source documents, there was a lack of confidentiality and security because of the absence of central storage, among others. With the extraordinary availability of data, these issues could be handled using data mining techniques to predict disease occurrences. In this study, clustering and classification techniques were utilized to predict disease occurrences of every barangay of the municipality at a given time. An efficient records-management system along with a decision-support system was developed to meet the challenges of the RHU. It mainly features the disease-occurrence mapping to assist physicians and other health professionals in their decision-making tasks particularly in diagnosis, treatment, and recommendations. It also aimed to develop a Computer-Aided Instruction model and craft an English Proficiency Test (EPT) for second language learners. This study used the descriptive-inferential research design. Descriptive statistics was used to give account on the profile and the overall proficiency level of the student-respondents. The backward step-wise Multiple Regression Analysis was used to determine the predictors of Language Learning Strategies and English Proficiency and Pearson's correlation was used to look into the relationship that exist between them. Findings reveal that respondents have a Low English proficiency level. It also reveals that majority of the respondents described the six Language Learning Strategies as Usually True of them and Metacognitive strategy is the most used strategy. Respondents think of the relationships between what they already know and the new things they learn in English is the dominant Memory Strategy. Watching English language TV shows or go to movies spoken in English to aid them learn the English language is the main Cognitive strategy used. Along compensatory domain, if they can't think of an English word, they use a word or phrase that means the same thing. Metacognitive strategy, they plan, monitor, evaluate and regulate their language learning process. While for Affective domain, respondents encourage themselves to speak in English even when they are afraid of making a mistake. In Affective strategy, if they do not understand something in English, they ask the other person to slow down or to say it again. Sex, Ethnicity and Parents Educational Attainment were the predictors of Language Learning Strategies while none of the predictor variables can predict the English proficiency. The English proficiency is not significantly associated with the adoption level of LLS. The result of the study can be an eye opener to school administrators and educators in validating and reinforcing the level of Language Learning Strategies and English Proficiency of the students. This study aimed to determine the field performance of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) varieties as influenced by applied rice hull ash (RHA), evaluate the single and combined effect of variety and RHA on the growth and yield of cucumber, identify the cucumber variety that would give better performance when applied with RHA; determine the most appropriate rate of RHA for best field performance of the test varieties, and determine the most appropriate variety and rate of RHA for optimum growth and yield of cucumber. The experiment was laid out in a 2 x 6 Split-Plot arranged in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. The main factor treatment corresponded to cucumber varieties, Thunder Fi and McArthur Fi while rice hull ash (RHA) in different rates such as Otha RHA without IF, Otha RHA with IF, 2tha RHA with IF, 4t/ha with IF, 6t/ha RHA with IF, and 8t/ha RHA with IF was the subplot factor treatment. On the growth components, McArthur F, had longer vine length and greater number of lateral vines than Thunder Fi However, both varieties had similar number of days to first flowering and number of days to first priming Furthermore, both varieties obtained comparable results in all other yield and yield components which include number of fruits per plant, weight per fruit, yield per plant, yield per plot and computed yield per hectare. All measured variables were enhanced by the application of 8t/ha RHA with inorganic fertilizer. Increasing the rates of RHA up to this rate gave significant advantage to all parameters except for the days to first priming. The number of days to first priming recorded a comparable result when RHA rate was increased from 4t/ha to 8t/ha. Characterization included selected qualitative traits at both vegetative and reproductive stages, agronomic parameters consisting of growth and yield components, and physical grain attributes following the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV) standard descriptors for rice. The study was conducted for one season covering February to July 2021 at the Research, Extension, and Training Division of the Nueva Vizcaya State University, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya. Of the six selections from Bingawan Black rice variety, five appeared distinct based on specific morphological traits observed at vegetative and reproductive stages. At vegetative stage Black Violet and Red Bold were differentiated from the four black selections by basal leaf sheath color, leaf anthocyanin coloration of auricles, and leaf color of ligules Black Small and Black Long appeared distinct from the others by flag leaf attitude and culm angle. At reproductive stage, Black Violet and Red Bold differed in anthocyanin coloration in both lemma apex and nodes. Black Violet, Red Bold, and Black Small were further distinguished from the others by stigma color. In addition, flag leaf attitude differentiated Black Small and Black Long from the rest of the selections. Likewise, Red Small differed with the two selections of Vizcaya Black rice in terms of basal leaf sheath color and leaf color of ligule. Black Long appeared distinct from Red Small and Black Intermediate in terms of culm angle. Growth parameters also differentiated specific selections in both cultivars. Recorded heights and days to heading indicate that selections from both black rice cultivars were semi-dwarf and early maturing. Values for yield components in both Bingawan Black and Vizcaya Black rice selections were relatively close to one another with no evident distinctions among selections. Physical grain attributes further differentiated the selections in grain color, length, and shape. Results of characterization of selections provide conclusive evidences of identification of distinct pure lines from the two black rice cultivars with further purification of these materials by growing them from pure seed lots, there will be potential new pigmented rice cultivars from the two original mixed populations. | Thesis (Master of Science in Crop Science - Agronomy) 28 cm..

Place hold on Purification and profiling of two black rice (oryza sativa l.) cultivars introduced in Nueva Vizcaya/

Administrative and supervisory practices among elementary school heads in the schools division of Nueva Vizcaya: towards redefining exemplar practices/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Jimenez, Rosalie L..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2021 .
xvi, 183 leaves : , This study determined the personal and school-related profile of the school heads, the level of their administrative and supervisory practices as to the different dimensions. It also aimed to redefine the administrative and supervisory practices of school heads. This study was conducted to 18 school heads and 206 elementary teachers from the Schools Division of Nueva Vizcaya. The data were generated through the use of online survey questionnaire via google form as the main data gathering tool supported by document analysis and interview. The online survey questionnaire has two parts, demographic profile and assessment of the school heads' administrative and supervisory functions. The data were analyzed using both quantitative and qualitative methods. In the quantitative approach, the descriptive evaluative type of research using a survey questionnaire was utilized to provide descriptive data in dealing with the demographic and school-related profile of the respondents as well as the level of practices of elementary school heads in terms of administrative and supervisory functions, differences on the administrative and supervisory practices of school heads when grouped according to profile variable and the significant relationship between the level of school heads practices of administrative and supervisory functions. In the qualitative approach, document analysis was utilized to strengthen or support the administrative and supervisory practices of school heads. The results of the qualitative analysis were supported by an interview with the Public Schools District Supervisors to further strengthen the findings of the study and to develop a better analysis and provide details on the exemplar practices of school heads. The administrative and supervisory functions of elementary school heads were compared by their profile variables. Results of the study revealed that most of the school heads are within the age group 60 years old and below mostly females, school heads by position and master degree holder. Most of the school heads were awarded in the district level and were assigned in central schools with a population of 15 and below teachers and 301 and above pupils with a total school MOOE of 21, 000 and above. The level of practices of elementary school heads in terms of administrative and supervisory functions as to the different dimensions was strongly practiced. Significant differences were observed in the administrative functions of the school heads as to the different dimensions when grouped according to age, sex, position and highest educational attainment while no significant differences occur on the school leadership management and operations and other functions/ special assignment when grouped according to age and sex. Significant differences were also noted on the administrative functions of school heads as to the different dimensions when grouped according to type of school, teacher population, pupil population and total school MOOE. Furthermore, the age group of respondents belonged to 60 years old and below had a significant impact on the execution of plans for a sustainable learning environment. Female school heads are practicing their administrative functions than the male school heads. They engage more in collaboration with parents and community in attaining the DepEd goals inbasic education. In addition, the position of the school heads had no influence on the learning environment and parents' involvement and community partnership for performance. School heads with master's degrees are strongly practicing their administrative functions than the school heads with doctorate degrees. Moreover, the various awards received by school heads either regional, national, and international awards could contribute in the execution of learning environment strategic plans of school heads. The type of school had significant influence on the learning environment, parents' involvement and community partnership for performance school leadership management and operations and other functions/ special assignment. The higher the teacher population of schools, the better execution of learning environment strategic plans. Thus, having more teachers in schools could have a positive influence on school academic functions such as partnerships and community involvement. Likewise, the more the population of the pupils, the more they manifest their practice of administrative functions. In terms of MOOE, the more finances given the more task to be conducted signifying more practice of their administrative functions to improve their learning environment. Schools with higher MOOE has a great impact on the formulation and implementation of school plans. Supervisory practices directly influenced the instructional leadership and human resource management and development in terms of their position and highest educational attainment. Moreover, school heads do not vary in their practice of supervisory functions as to instructional leadership and human resource management and development in terms of their age, sex, and awards received. As to the school-related profile of the school heads, they do not differ in their practice of supervisory functions when grouped according to type of school, teacher population, pupil population and total school MOOE. Significant relationship between the level of practice of school heads in their administrative functions and supervisory functions in all of their respective dimensions was also observed. This indicates that when the school heads strongly practiced their administrative functions, it follows that they manifest a high level of practices in terms of their supervisory functions. Lastly, redefined exemplar practices are derived based on the data gathered through online survey questionnaire supported by document analysis and interview. | Thesis (Master of Education - Educational Administration) 28 cm..

Place hold on Administrative and supervisory practices among elementary school heads in the schools division of Nueva Vizcaya: towards redefining exemplar practices/

Evaluation of teacher made examination in grade 2 mathematics of Villaverde District/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Raymundo, Rolly A. .
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2021 .
x, 120 leaves : , The study aimed to compile test questions for first quarter examinations of all teachers teaching Mathematics 2 in the District of Villaverde, Nueva Vizcaya representing all the different learning competencies and classified as LOTS and HOTS, to propose two parallel forms of first quarter examination tests which include the tests characteristics, and to propose steps in drafting District-wide Quarter Examination test questions. This study was carried out using a survey-questionnaire with three parts, one targeting the determination of the level of acceptability of modules in terms of the learning competency, content, language, social content, assessment, format and technical specifications and intellectual property rights; the level of scientific literacy of the students adopted from McKweon (2017) with the following parts: Value of Science, What I Can Do in Science, and What I Believed about Science, and the level of science performance of the students. These questionnaires were distributed to 84 respondents identified using Simple Random Sampling wherein 50 respondents were chosen from 7 national high schools and 34 from 24 selected integrated schools. In analyzing data, descriptive-correlational method was applied. Results revealed that the seven components of modules, are all observed to be acceptable by the respondents. The module is foremost acceptable in terms of its social content, followed by the intellectual property rights, assessment, format and technical specifications, language, learning competency and least acceptable on content. Moreover, the overall level of scientific literacy of the respondents is satisfactory. They agree in most of the statements regarding the value of science followed by what they can do and lastly on what they believe about science. Meanwhile, on the level of science performance of the respondents, it is very satisfactory. Furthermore, the overall level of acceptability of the Chemistry module as perceived by the students and their level of scientific literacy are highly significantly correlated. Moreover, all of the components of the module and scientific literacy are positively correlated. However, the component of module pertaining to format and technical specification is not significantly correlated with what the students believe about science. On the other hand, no significant relationship existed between the overall level of acceptability of the modules as perceived by the respondents as well as their scientific literacy, and their level of science performance at 0.05 level of significance. Several studies conducted for a wide range environment have demonstrated that soybean yield increase with irrigation (Gercek et al., 2009). Thus, this study was conducted to enhance the growth and yield of soybean using drip irrigation system and determine the effect of different irrigation management on growth and yield of the crop. The study was conducted under Pangasinan condition for four months. Irrigation was scheduled based on different moisture allowable depletion (MAD) levels set at 20%, 40%, 60% and 80% soil available water. Electrical resistance type sensor was used in determining the irrigation timing and refill point of the study. The result of the treatments with different MAD levels was also compared with the result obtained from the farmer's practice and rainfed treatments. In order to conserve water, the moisture allowed depletion (MAD) levels were set at 80% during the germination stage and the vegetative stage. While at reproductive stage was 20% MAD to sustain growth and good performance of the plant. The total water requirement in each phenological stages of the soybean were 1.5 cm for germination stage, 5.3 cm for vegetative stage and 24.4 cm for reproductive stage to pod fill to harvest. Total yield of soybean ranged from 1222 kg/ha (Treatment 6) to 1958 kg/ha (Treatment 1). Yield of soybean affected by different treatment using drip irrigation system resulted significantly greater yield of 1,625-1,958 kg/ha than farmer's practice and rainfed yield which is 1,458 kg/ha and 1,222 kg/ha. One of the factors accountable in altering the hydrologic response of watershed is the land use and land cover (LULC) change affecting, particularly, the water quantity. The extent of these changes on catchment hydrology will be needed for the planning and implementation of various water resources projects. The main objective of this study was to assess the hydrologic responses to LULC change of the Magat Watershed located in the northern part of the Philippines. In particular, the study evaluates the LULC change for the period 2003 and 2015 and the effect these changes have had on water quantity, specifically, streamflow in the watershed using the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT). The SWAT model simulation was performed for a period of 23 years. Calibration and validation were performed through comparison of the simulated and observed streamflow from the gauging stations, the Magat and Bagabag stations. The outputs were calibrated for the period 1998 to 2007 and validated for the period 2008 to 2017 for the Magat station. Due to insufficient streamflow data for the Bagaheg station, the calibration and validation was deme for the period 2001 so 2007 and 2008 to 2013, respectively Sensitivity analysis was also performed to identify the most sensitive parameters out of the 12 parameters selected and so determine the best fitted values for each of the parameters. It was found out that the baseflow alpha factor (ALPHA BF) was the most sensitive parameter that could possibly affect the SWAT model output. The calibration and validation processes yielded the values 0.77, 59.98% and 0.69 for the Pearson Coefficient (r), Coefficient of Determination (r) and Nash-Sutcliffe Efficiency (NSE), respectively. These values imply that the performance rating of the model, generally, is good. The LULC change analysis revealed that range-grasses (RNGE) and residential built-up (URBN) have the greatest increase with a rate of change of 414.50% and 340.70%, respectively. Additionally, the LULC change detection analysis performed using the ArcGIS depicted that the range-brush/shrubs (RNGB) has contributed to the increase of forest-mixed (FRST) and RNGE and for the expansion in URBN and water (WATR), the agricultural land-generic (AGRL) has the greatest contribution. In the evaluation on hydrologic response of streamflow due to LULC changes, the output of simulation resulted to a minimal variability for the three components that contribute to streamflow. Surface runoff and lateral flow has a minimal increase 0.22% and 3.41%, respectively, whereas, groundwater has a decrease of 11.53%. Though there was an increase in URBN, there was also an increase in FRST and RNGE, thus, this change resulted to a minimal increase in surface runoff, since the effect in the expansion in URBN compensated the increase in RNGE. As surface runoff and groundwater flow are the major components contributing to streamflow, with FRST and RNGB, the infiltration increases and further lead to decreased surface runoff and increase of groundwater flow. On the other hand, URBN had the strongest contribution in surface runoff due to reduced infiltration rates on the impervious surface. The study also evaluated the hydrologic response on streamflow using different LULC scenarios. From the simulation results of the three scenarios, it was depicted that the greatest effect was observed in scenario 3 where there was a remarkable increase in surface runoff and a notable decrease in lateral flow and groundwater flow. Generally, from the results of this study, it is good to conclude that the calibrated model can accurately simulate and could be effectively used to simulate streamflow in the Magat watershed and a confirmation that the calibrated model can be used to examine the responses of hydrological processes to LULC change in watershed. Further, the output of this study can be used as a decision support tool for policy makers and water resources planners for a sustainable watershed management. As a guide, CHED issued Memorandum No. 04 Series of 2020 which contains the general recommendations on the flexible learning strategies depending on the levels of technology and availability of devices of the stakeholders. Faculty members were challenged to continue teaching beyond the traditional mode of learning during the pandemic. Therefore, the study focused on the level of management functions and technology preparedness of the faculty members with permanent employment status under business programs of HEIs in Nueva Vizcaya. The concept of the study was drawn from the theories of Planning, Organizing, Leading and Controlling (POLC) and technology preparedness in terms of technology access, technology skills and literacy, and attitude in technology. The respondents' profile, level of implementation of management functions and level of technology preparedness were determined through descriptive statistics such as percentage, standard deviation, and frequency count. The result of the study showed that faculty members of business programs have high level of implementation of management and technology preparedness. Moreover, significant relationships between the respondents' profile and management strategies, respondents' profile and technology preparedness, and management strategies and technology preparedness of the faculty members were determined using the statistical tools like Pearsons Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (Pearson's r), Correlation Ratio (E2), and Point Biserial Correlation Coefficient depending on the type of data being tested. The study revealed that the profile of the faculty members has no relationship on their level of implementation of management strategies. On the other hand, younger faculty members have higher technology access and technology skills and literacy. Furthermore, result showed that profile were not significant factors on their level of attitude in technology. Based on the Salary Standardization Law 1, public teachers have better compensation than any other government employees, considering their basic salary and all of the benefits. However, teachers were financially challenged in understanding and managing their own finances. The concept of the study was drawn from the theories of Maslow's Hierarchy of needs, areas of personal finance, financial literacy identifiers and core competencies, top-down processing theory and behavioral finance. The respondents profile, level of financial literacy, financial perspectives and financial practices were determined through descriptive statistics such as percentage, standard deviation, mean and frequency count. The result of the study showed that public secondary teachers had high level of financial literacy and financial perspectives, but this is in contrast with the level of the financial practices which yielded a low result. Moreover, significant relationships between the respondents' profile and level of financial literacy, financial perspectives and financial practices; level of financial literacy and financial perspectives and financial practices; and financial perspectives and financial practices of the public secondary teachers were determined using the statistical tools like Pearson's Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (Pearson's r), Correlation Ratio (E2), and Point Biserial Correlation Coefficient depending on the type of data being tested. The study revealed that all of the above relationships were significant. Most of the respondents are male (67.9%) with majority of them being the head of the family (96.6%), were between 40-60 years old (59.5%), has reached college level (56%) and has relevant training in pig husbandry (51 2%). Majority of the respondents are into backyard operation at 83 3% Results showed that most (98 8%) of the respondents regardless of the type of farm operation used antimicrobials in their pigs for treatment, prevention and growth promotion. All commercial farms are knowledgeable of the antibiotic used in their animals while only 46.4% of the backyard farms are aware of it The commonly used classes of antimicrobials in backyard and commercial farms are tetracyclines (50.6%), penicillin’s (44.6%), aminoglycosides (31.3%) and fluoroquinolones (30.1%) with the following types of antimicrobials identified as commonly used including oxytetracycline, enrofloxacin, amoxicillin, doxycycline, penicillin, gentamicin, tiamulin, streptomycin, trimethoprim-sulfa combinations and lincomycin. On practices of farms on antimicrobial usage, most of them accessed antimicrobials over the counter (91.7%), with 929% of the backyard farms acquiring their antibiotic this way though only 40.5% have prescription from veterinarians A high proportion of the backyard farmers (98.9%) seek instructions on antimicrobial usage from animal technician while in most commercial farms (92.9%) get instructions on usage from veterinarian. Majority of them (70.2%) said that they always acquire prescription or instruction when buying antibiotics. In the farms surveyed, 82 1% confirmed that there are other substances in the farms that contain antibiotics. A high percentage (88 1%) of them give antibiotics to all pigs in pen even if only one pig is sick, with 100% of the backyard farms doing this practice while only 28 6% of commercial farms practice it Some farmers tend to self-combine antimicrobials (11.9%) and give dose that were low or high than recommended (26.2%) A high proportion of the respondents (96.4%) stops giving antibiotics when the animal gets better. Most of them (91 7%) however, observed withdrawal period and were aware of negative consequences of giving antimicrobials (94%), but very few (23%) were aware of what antimicrobial resistance is. This study revealed that there is widespread usage of antimicrobials in swine farms in Nueva Vizcaya Thus, there is a need to conduct regular surveillance on antimicrobial usage to ensure rational use, reduce AMR development and preserve their efficacy particularly those that are also used medically. | Thesis (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) 28 cm..

Place hold on Survey on antimicrobial usage in swine farm in Nueva Vizcaya /

Responses of arabica coffee (coffee arabica l.) seedlings to different types of fertilizer management and levels of irrigation/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Golonan, Arlia S..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2021 .
xiii, 57 leaves : , This study was conducted to evaluate different types of fertilizer management and water irrigation levels on Arabica coffee seedlings in CAR so that coffee seedlings will be distributed to farmers in a span of one and half year. Data gathering was done during a four-month period after the date of transplanting for plant height and girth under Baguio City conditions. Fertilizer management (no fertilizer applied, wood vinegar (bamboo), phosphorus and lime, and nitrogen) and water management (pot capacity, 60 ml-farmer's practices, 25%, 50%, and 75% of pot capacity) were factorially combined and laid out in split plot experiment arranged in the randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. Results showed that phosphorus and lime rates at a rate of 2.31 g lime and 750 mg P/pot and 50% of pot capacity (30 ml) water significantly (p ≤0.05) increased plant height and stem girth of the potted coffee seedlings. The results further indicated significant reduction in the nursery period of coffee seedlings from two (2) years to one (1) year with an average height of 16.23 cm, close to the required and recommended height of 20-30cmready for distribution to the farmers, Significant effects in the interaction between fertilizer and irrigation factors was observed. Sustaining forest carbon sinks is a priority in climate change as well as forest management strategy. However, several issues confront the role of Philippine forests in climate change mitigation: the loss of old-growth cover, unsustainable forest land use practices, and lack of site-specific modeling. These are the realities in the Quirino Forest Landscape, a semi-contiguous collection of secondary forests in 4 municipalities of Quirino Province. This study was undertaken to develop a forecast model for carbon in aboveground of underutilized trees in the Quirino Forest Landscape Project (QFLP) located in the Quirino Province. The study used forecasting variables such as DBH, abundance, density, and other related factors such as accumulation rate of AGB, change in forest cover, and time. Data were collected through field inventory, NAMRIA Land Cover Databases, and secondary sources. Multiple linear regression, principal components analysis, and biodiversity indices have been used in the analysis of data collected from different sampling areas and in the development of a forecast model. The results of the study showed the strong forecasting power of the developed model, which was precise enough to provide future values for the accumulated carbon in QFLP over the next 30 years. The 30-year forecast data showed that the average carbon sequestration in AGB of underutilized species of all forested areas in QFLP from 2020 to 2050 is QFLUSCarbon 228.88 G1C (SD-3.70). The high proportion of underutilized trees among those economically more important and more popular species of trees has also been observed in QFLP, indicating the dependence of its carbon sequestration on these species. The results of the analysis of forest cover change data illustrated the declining forest cover in the QFLP over the last several years, suggesting the need for policy-based management. | Thesis (Master of Science in Agricultural Engineering - Soil and Water Management) 28 cm..

Place hold on Development of a forecast model on carbon sequestration of underutilized trees in quirino forest landscape project (qfluscarbon)/

Students’ performance using physics education technology (phet) simulation-based activities: towards an enhanced instructional material/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Baustista, Mary Grace P..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2021 .
xii, 165 pages : , The study focused on the establishment of an enhanced learning material in Physics based on the level of performance of the respondents before and after the implementation of the (Physics Education Technology) PhET simulations measured on the different learning competencies. The experiment was laid out in a split plot arranged in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. The main plot treatments corresponded to the corn variety (IES Glut No. 4 and IES CN 9) while the sub-plot treatments corresponded to applied PA and CPGP with inorganic fertilizer (inorganic fertilizer alone, IF; PA at 200x dilution IF, PA at 300x dilution + IF; 300 ppm CPGP, 600 ppm CPGP; and PA at 250x dilution + 450 ppm CPGP + IF. IES Glut No. 4 and IES CN 9 were similar in all measured growth and yield variables except on maturity based on days to tasseling. IES Glut No. 4 matured at 47 days after seedling emergence that was four days earlier than IES CN 9. All measured plant growth and yield variables were significantly affected by applied PA and CPGP except the number of ears produced per plot which seemed to be a stable character of the corn plants. Applied IF alone consistently gave the lowest values of the measured variables. Greater FAW incidence was observed during the vegetative stage of corn plants particularly during Carly whorl and late whorl stage. The same number of plants in both varieties were infested with FAW but the application of PA and CPGP, in general resulted to a significant decrease in percent infestation. Applied PA at 250x dilution + 450 ppm CPGP IF was the most effective corn nutrition among the employed treatments in terms of enhancing growth and yield of corn as well as mitigating FAW incidence and FAW infestation. | Thesis (Master of Science in Crop Science - Agronomy) 28 cm..

Place hold on Corn nutrition to mitigate fall armyworm (spodoptera frugiperda j. e. smith) infestation and yield loss/

Geographical model of acute respiratory infection in Nueva Vizcaya/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Inocencio, Jefferson L. .
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2021 .
x, 75 leaves : , This study identified Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) hotspots and cold spots in Nueva Vizcaya and consequently investigated the environmental aspects of the identified ARI hotspots and cold spots. With the COVID-19 pandemic around the corner, teaching science has been a challenge. Incorporating virtual simulation activities is a must for students to be able to understand science without having actual laboratory set-up to explore. This study focused on enhancing the science process skills and performance of students through virtual simulation activities. Specifically, it determined the levels of science process skills and science performance of the students based on their pretest and posttest mean scores, and the difference in their gained scores as well as the relationship between the variables. In this study, two questionnaires were handed to 48 randomly chosen senior high school students enrolled in Chemistry 2. The questionnaires underwent both validity and reliability tests. Moreover, this study employed the descriptive-correlation design on a single-group pretest-posttest design. Pretests and posttests were administered to the same group of respondents both designed to measure their science process skills and science performance after applying the virtual simulation activities. In the analysis, descriptive statistics was used to determine the mean scores of the students in the pretest and posttest establishing their levels of science process skills and science performance when grouped according to their profile variables. Meanwhile, paired sample t-test was used to determine significant differences in the levels of science process skills and science performance of the learners based on their pretest and posttest mean scores. Moreover, normalized gain analysis to determine the effect of virtual simulation activities on the science process and performance of the learners. Finally, Pearson-r correlation coefficient was determined to establish significant relationship between science process skills and science performance of the respondents. Results showed that the respondents have an average level of both science process skills and science performance. Significant differences in their mean scores were observed for both variables. Furthermore, the normalized gain scores of the students fall under the moderate category implying a moderate effect of the virtual simulation activities on the science process skills and performance of the students. In addition, significant positive correlations were observed between the interpreting component under science process skills and the understanding, evaluating, and creating components of science performance of the students. Hence, it is recommended that virtual simulation activities be strategically incorporated in modules used in the blended learning modality. The province primary sector includes mining and quarrying. In Didipio, Kasibu, known for its rich gold and copper was found to be present in sediments and waters. The study was conducted at Buliwao, Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya. Generally, the objective of the study was to determine the copper uptake efficiency of Brassica spp. planted in biochar amended soil. Specifically, the study aimed to (1) evaluate the physical and chemical characteristics of the soils used in the study; (2) determine the Cu uptake efficiency of B. juncea and B. rapa planted in biochar amended soils collected from the two tributaries of Didipio river; and (3) characterize the soils for the suitability of the areas for agricultural crops. The experiment was laid out in a two-way factorial experiment in Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three replications. Two B. spp. and three levels of biochar (carbonized rice hull) as soil amendment were used. The treatments evaluated were as follows: Factor A (B. spp.): A1 Mustard and A2 Pechay. Factor B (Levels of Biochar): B, 0.4 kg ha¹ soil + 0.06 kg ha¹ biochar; B2: 0.34 kg ha¹ soil + 0.1 kg ha¹; and B3 -0.3 kg ha¹ soil + 0.1 kg ha¹ biochar. Comparison of means of residual and total loss of Cu in the soil showed that treatments started to differ significantly 30 days after biochar application. Residual Cu in the soil ranged from 0.48 ppm4.87 ppm. The residual Cu in the soil decreases as the treatment time increases. The total Cu loss ranged from 0.77 ppm to 5.16 ppm which the Cu loss in the soil increases as the treatment time increases. For the suitability of crops, common bean was found to be moderately suitable and sweet potato and upland and lowland rice were marginally suitable in the production areas near Dinauyan stream. Meanwhile, common bean and sweet potato were found to be moderately suitable, upland rice is moderately suitable and lowland rice was found to be marginally suitable in the production areas near Dupit stream. | Thesis (Master of Science in Crop Science - Horticulture) 28 cm..

Place hold on Copper uptake efficiency of brassica app. planted in biochar amended soil/

Jam preparation of mixed vegetables/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Atteo, Cathlyn B., author..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2021 .
xii, 43 leaves : , This study utilized and determined the desirability of mixed vegetables such as sweet potato, chayote, and squash in the preparation of jams, in terms of their color and appearance, texture, flavor, taste, and the general acceptability of the finished product. Specifically, this was conducted to characterize and describe the gross morphology (color, consistency, distribution of lesion, exudation, pleurisy and adhesion) and to determine the prevalence of pneumonia based only on the gross morphological lesions. Data that were gathered from the mentioned parameters served as the basis in the etiologic diagnosis of pneumonia. The Systematic Random Sampling was used in the selection of pig lungs that was inspected and examined. The result of this study showed that bronchial and interstitial pneumonia were the two most common classification that greatly affects those of the swine slaughtered. It also showed that the occurrence of pneumonia has a strong relationship with the macroscopic changes on the structure of the lungs especially in color (0.016), presence of Efferent exudate (<0.001), distribution of lesions (< 0.001) and a low relation in the changes of lung consistency (0.051). The lesions greatly influenced the occurrence of infection, and data from this study revealed that 83.3% (25) from the total lungs mined were positive with pneumonia. Majority of the lungs were affected with bronchial pneumonia which often caused by bacterial infection such as Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, Haemophilus parasuis, Actinobacillus pleuropneumonia, etc. and interstitial pneumonia mainly caused by respiratory viruses such as Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory (PRRS) virus and/or Porcine circovirus. In conclusion, swine pneumonia is highly prevalent in the slaughtered pigs at San Mateo Municipal Slaughterhouse (AA) implying the chances of not having a strict management practice among backyard raisers in reducing the development of different risk factors thus, resulting to the development of respiratory disease. | Thesis (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) 28 cm..

Place hold on Gross characterization and morphologic diagnosis of pneumonic lungs slaughtered at San Mateo municipal slaughterhouse/

Assessment of the surface water potential of an ungauged catchment/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Panlasigui, Pinky Melanie Dc..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2021 .
xv, 97 leaves : , The study aims to assess the surface water resources potential of an ungauged catchment which is located at Barangay Nagsabaran, Diadi, Nueva Vizcaya. For this purpose, an interview was conducted to selected respondents, water quality was tested in the area, streamflow and water discharge was collected and surface runoff modelling was done with the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) Model. It was identified through survey that the major source of water of the barangay comes from unprotected spring (59.8%) and stream, river (42.3%) that is utilized by the residents for their household (98.9%), business (22.4%), livestock (13.2%), farming (11.7%) and aquaculture (0.7%) activities. The water quality did not exceed the water quality guidelines promulgated by DENR except for color whose value ranges from 39 Color Unit to 63 Color Unit compared to 5 Color Unit during the period covered. This exceedance is associated with naturally dissolved organic matter. Water discharge from the waterpipes connected to Nagsabaran waterfalls is also has an average discharge of 0.08 Lps (0.00008 cu m/s) while, thestreamflow from the Nagsabaran waterfalls to the Oriwong creek was 0.069 cu m/s. The SWAT model extracted 14 subbasins with 177 Hydrologic Response Units (HRU's). There are eight parameters used in this study for which Soil Available Water Capacity (SOL AWC) is the most sensitive with p-value of 0.06 and 1-stat of -1.90. SWAT simulation have been done for the period 1997-2013. Calibration and simulation were done for the streamflow and the performance of the model is evaluated using two methods: the coefficient of determination (r²) and the Nash-Sutcliffe Simulation Efficiency (NSE) with an overall value of 0.5066 and -0.72, respectively. The, effective allocation of water resources requires knowledge of the area and sufficient data for use of watershed models to simulate the flow of water and the transport of sediments and other associated water quality constituents. Specifically, it described the sociodemographic profiles of the NBI-CAVRO personnel; determined the levels of satisfaction of the NBI-CAVRO personnel in terms of the motivator and hygiene factors based on Herzberg's Two-Factor theory, tested the relationship between demographic profile variables, motivator factors, and hygiene factors to the performance of NBI-CAVRO personnel; and recommended interventions to enhance the personnel performance of the NBI-CAVRO. A survey questionnaire was developed and distributed to the NBI-CAVRO personnel involved in the criminal records clearance services and investigation services. The results showed that the satisfaction levels of the NBI-CAVRO personnel in terms of motivator factors (achievement, recognition/promotion, the work itself, responsibility, professional growth) and hygiene factors (organization policies, supervision, work conditions, relationship with boss, relationship with peers, relationship with citizens, benefits, salary, job security, personal life and work balance) were very high. The results also showed that younger personnel as well as respondents who had spent lesser years in the Bureau, or those who were contractual or had casual employment status, contributed substantially to the overall performance of the NBI in Region 02, and that the performance of the NBI-CAVRO personnel in the records clearance services and criminal investigation services would be high when the different hygiene factors were satisfactorily met. Hence, the satisfactory implementation of the hygiene factors would boost the overall performance of NBI personnel in Region 02regardless of the unit they were serving. Furthermore, the persistence, determination, and dedication of the younger personnel and those who were new and still holding contractual or casual employment status should be maintained but should be given a program for permanent status to encourage and further enhance the overall performance of the Bureau.
