Informants of the study were classified into three, namely: 1) School Head, 2) Teachers, and 3) Learners. The qualitative method of research was employed to gather baseline data. Participant observation, focused group discussion, and face-to-face interviews were conducted while educational theories connected to the findings were used to give meaning to the study. From the research, it was learned that multi-grade teachers did not have the formal training needed to ensure quality delivery of the teaching and learning process and to elicit good performance from the learners. The study further established that the teachers were left with their own devices to ensure the delivery of learning competencies in the different levels assigned to them. From the study, it was also learned that commitment and dedication were very important in surmounting numerous problems encountered by the multi-grade teachers. Among the more significant problems identified by the multi-grade teachers and validated by ocular visits were those that pertained to time, preparation, facilities, supplies, equipment and instructional materials, curriculum content and design, monitoring, evaluation and feedback mechanisms. Coping mechanisms adopted to address the above problems included subject integration in planning, adopting the same preparatory activity but with different levels of difficulty, the use of daily log plans instead of detailed plans, training the learners to become para-teachers, and following a strict classroom program. Groupings, sound class management, peer teaching ("each one teach one"), were among the most common techniques used by the multi-grade teachers. | Thesis (Master of Education - Educational Administration) 28 cm..

Place hold on An ethnography of multi-grade teaching in a cultural community/

Extent of usage of teaching methods and instructional materials and pupils’ performance in the national achievement test/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Tagure, Jennifer B..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2015 .
xii, 92 leaves : , This research established the extent of teachers' usage of teaching methods and instructional materials, performance in the Competency-Based Performance Appraisal System for Teachers (CB-PAST) and the performance of Grade VI pupils in the National Achievement Test for School Years 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 in Dupax del Norte I and II Districts, Division of Nueva Vizcaya. This research employed the descriptive-correlation method. The descriptive method was utilized to describe the extents of teachers' usage of teaching methods and instructional materials and the level of performance of pupils in the NAT. The correlation method was employed to determine the extent to which different variables are related to each other. The stratified proportionate random sampling, Slovin formula and fishbowl technique were used to determine the sample, sample size and respondents of the study, respectively. A structured questionnaire was used to gather pertinent data. Descriptive statistics such as mean and standard deviation were used to describe the extent of usage of teaching methods and instructional materials and the level of performance in the NAT. The Pearson r was used to determine the relationship between variables. Teachers, at all times, use a variety of teaching methods in the delivery of subject matter to their pupils. Time and again, teachers use a combination of different instructional materials to enhance the presentation and development of their learning contents. The performance level of the pupils in public elementary schools of Dupax del Norte Districts in the National Achievement Test (NAT) for 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 is moving towards mastery. The higher the extent of teachers' usage of collaborative and cooperative learning method, and problem-based learning method, the higher the level of performance of the pupils in the 2012-2013 National Achievement Test (NAT). Further, the higher the extent of teachers' usage of problem-based learning method, multi-sensory learning method and the overall extent, the higher the level of performance of the pupils in the 2013-2014 National Achievement Test (NAT). The higher the extent of teachers' usage of audio-visual aids, the higher the level of performance of pupils in the 2012-2013 National Achievement Test. Further, it used the descriptive-inferential method in determining the relationship between the demographic profile of teachers and their level of motivation in terms of extrinsic and intrinsic motivators and job performance. This study was conducted during the first semester of school year 2015-2016 in the two campuses of Nueva Vizcaya State University using 127 randomly selected teachers who served as respondents. A validated researcher-made questionnaire was used to gather pertinent data that substantiated the theme of this research. Frequencies and percentages were used in treating the data on demographic profile and mean and standard deviation to describe both levels of motivation and job performance of the respondents. Simple correlation analysis was used to test the relationship between variables while categorical regression analysis was utilized in determining the independent variables that are significantly influential to job performance of the faculty members. Nueva Vizcaya State University faculty members belonged mostly to the in-betweens of 31-40 years old; majority were males; a greater number were married; most were master's degree holders; majority were occupying instructor positions, and there were more faculty members who served for 8 years than those who served for 9 years and above. They were highly motivated extrinsically (satisfaction with salary, satisfaction with benefits, good relationships with co-workers, effective supervisor, effective senior managers and presence of core values) and intrinsically (work itself, recognition, good feelings about the organization, sense of responsibility, opportunity for advancement, professional growth opportunities and clarity of mission). In general, the job performance of the faculty members of NVSU Bayombong and Bambang campuses for second semester, 2013-2014 and first semester, 2014-2015 was described as very satisfactory. As the faculty members age, they exhibited very satisfactory job performance. Moreover, those with longer years of service and those with higher academic rank manifested a very satisfactory performance in work. Faculty members performed very satisfactorily when they were highly satisfied with their remunerations and benefits. Sense of responsibility and opportunity for advancement highly motivate the NVSU faculty members to perform their jobs well. Further, academic rank was found to be a strong predictor of job performance of faculty members. Presence of core values highly contributed to predicting job performance of faculty members. And sense of responsibility was found to be highly influential to job performance of faculty members. | Thesis (Master of Education - Educational Administration) 28 cm..

Place hold on Motivation and job performance of Nueva Vizcaya State University faculty members./

Oral reading difficulties and comprehension among elementary grade pupils in a private school/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Razalan, Marcielyne A..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2015 .
xiii, 130 leaves : , Reading is an essential part of learning one cannot understand intricate details of a certain topic or announcement if he/she has found difficulty in identifying letters, symbols, words, or in understanding the meaning of the text. Indeed, reading serves as the anchor in the assimilation of information. But as humanity becomes more proficient in the use of technology, reading has been neglected or taken for granted. Instead of reading books and other references, children nowadays glue themselves to gadgets and video games. Scholars identify this phenomenon as a crucial period because children have difficulties in identifying words, comprehending reading texts or signs and symbols proficiently. This study identified the reading difficulties and comprehension of the respondents in oral reading among elementary pupils. The study used descriptive-inferential research method through a structured questionnaire to gather pertinent data required in the study. The study revealed mispronunciation is more prevalent among Grades 4 and Grade 5 than in Grade 3 in word recognition while Grade 1 pupils showed a higher level of substitution of a different word in reading than those in higher grade levels. Grade 3 pupils are more proficient in reading especially in word recognition compared to other grade levels. In reading proper, mispronunciation is more common in Grade 1 than in other grades. Omission of words in reading proper is more prevalent among Grade 4 pupils. Grade 1 pupils has difficulty recognizing words in reading proper. In oral reading comprehension, pupils who stammer more and have difficulty in reading proper have lower oral reading comprehension. Moreover, the following results exposed that younger pupils belonging to the lower grades whose fathers are skilled in manual labor use Tagalog as medium of communication at home and school encountered higher level of frustration in recognition of words, pronunciation, and substitution of a different word while reading. Pupils who are in the higher grade levels or those who are older, whose father are employed as skilled labors, or those with no other reading materials at home such as magazines, have encountered more difficulties during reading proper. Those whose parents are working as businesswoman or housewife displayed higher oral reading comprehension than those who have different occupation. Pupils whose teachers with more years of teaching experience encountered fewer difficulties in mispronunciation, or in the overall level of difficulties in word recognition. Pupils of teachers with more years of teaching experience, with higher educational attainment, and have attended more relevant trainings and seminars have encountered fewer difficulties in reading proper and have higher reading comprehension. | Thesis (Master of Education - Language, Reading and Numeracy) 28 cm..

Place hold on Oral reading difficulties and comprehension among elementary grade pupils in a private school/

Teachers’ practices and science achievement of pupils in multi-grade classes/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Tamayo-Chua, Marife A. .
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2015 .
xi, 87 leaves : , This study aimed to identify demographic variables and practices of science teachers teaching in the multi-grade classes in the Aglipay District in the Division of Quirino that has great influences in the pupils' achievement in science. The descriptive -correlation design and proportionate random sampling were employed in the study using four sets of instruments: questionnaire intended for the teachers, questionnaire for the head teacher / teacher-in-charge, Science achievement test for grades V and Science achievement test for grades VI. All the instruments underwent face and content validation by the experts. The reliability coefficients of the science achievement tests for grades V and VI were computed using the Cronbach's alpha. The study found out that Female married teachers with relatively few children had positive influence to pupils' science achievement scores. Teachers with higher number of years of experience teaching in the Multi-grade, attended Division level seminars/trainings, and receiving higher salary positively influence the pupils to achieve high in the science achievement. However, the teachers' with BS degree, occupying lower position, not frequently using audio-visual and visual materials positively influence pupils' achievement scores in science. As to the teachers' practices: The use of other references in making lesson plans, giving science trivia / latest news in the class, maximizing the use of books, giving lecture and activity alternately to the grades V and VI were found could positively influence the pupils in the attainment of high scores in science. While, the frequent conduct of prayers, review lessons, giving of energizers, letting the class watch movies, giving activity sheets, experiment in class, requiring the pupils to copy what was written on the board, and letting the pupils watch movies could influence the pupils to achieve low in science achievement. The following were recommended: teachers should search an alternative teaching strategy that would improve the academic performance of the pupils, head teachers or teachers-in-charge of the school with multi-grade classes should consider the findings of this study in assigning teachers to teach the subject. | Thesis (Master of Education in Science Education - General Science) 28 cm..

Place hold on Teachers’ practices and science achievement of pupils in multi-grade classes/

Association of executive functioning and management effectiveness of academic middle-level administrator of the Nueva Vizcaya State University/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Gabatino, Bryan B. .
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2015 .
xii, 122 leaves : , This study determined the association of executive functioning and management effectiveness of academic middle-level administrators of the Nueva Vizcaya State University, Bayombong and Bambang Campuses, Province of Nueva Vizcaya. Moreover, it determined the variables that predict the extent of their executive functioning and management effectiveness. This research employed the descriptive-inferential method. Stratified proportionate random sampling was used to determine the samples of the study. A standardized test, the Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function Adult version (BRIEF A) was utilized to assess the executive functioning of the academic middle-level administrators, while a two-part questionnaire was used to determine the administrators' demographics and their level of managerial effectiveness. The analysis was done using mean, t-score, Pearson r and regression. The better the ability of the university's academic middle-level administrators to execute their management skills, the more that they tend to be in the borderline in their executive functioning in terms of their emotional control. Further, as they exceptionally perform their management skills, the more that they tend to be normal in their executive functioning in terms of inhibition, shift, self-monitoring, initiation, planning/organization and task monitoring. As the management skills of the deans and department chairs reaches the exemplary level, the more that they inhibit themselves from acting on impulse and be able to adjust given the circumstances. On the other hand, when the academic middle-level administrators' executive functioning in terms of shift, self-monitoring, initiation, planning/organization and task monitoring becomes normal, one is guaranteed better performances on communication skills, adaptability, interpersonal relations, and initiative and creativity of the middle managers. And as they tend to reach the borderline in their working memory, emotional control, inhibition and organization of materials, there is a greater chance of achieving better interpersonal relations, decision-making and judgment, and initiative and creativity. Age, sex, marital status, highest educational attainment, length of service, present designation, and number of years in present designation are strong predictors of executive functioning of academic middle-level administrators. The experimental animals were randomly assigned into three (3) treatment groups replicated three (3) times with two (2) animals assigned per replicate. The experimental animals were laid out using complete randomized design (CRD) and the data was analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) The animals were fed with age-appropriate rations for twelve weeks (84 days). Animals in treatment 1 (T₁) were fed rations without ractopamine HCI supplementation. Animals in treatment 2 (T2) were given starter, grower, and finisher rations with ractopamine HCl supplemented at the finisher stage. Animals in treatment 3 (T1) were fed similar rations but with ractopamine HCl added at the starter and grower stages. Results of the study showed that there were significant differences among treatment groups on some growth parameters such as the mean average daily gain during the grower stage and the feed to gain ratio during the finisher stage. While in the other parameters, there were no significant differences observed which means that the analyzed results from the other parameters were comparable with each other. There were significant differences observed in the mean average daily gain (ADG) during grower stage. The highest ADG was treatment 3 (0.804 kg) followed by treatment 2 (0.789 kg) and least was treatment 1 (0.700 kg). During the finisher stage, there was a marked shift in the computed average daily gain (ADG) among the treatment groups. Treatment 1 had the highest computed ADG which is 0.949 kg. This was followed by treatment 2 (0.889kg) and treatment 3 (0.770kg). In this observation the stunting effect of ractopamine in pigs over the long duration of use was observed in treatment 3 During the finisher stage an apparent increase in feed to gain ratio was observed. The mean feed to gain ratio of treatment 3 was 3.283 kg followed by treatment 1 which was 2.646 kg and for treatment 2 which was 2.836kg It shows that treatment 3 was significantly different among the treatments 1 and 2, but treatment I has a lower feed to gain ratio. A lower feed to gain ratio is more efficient which means that T2 is more efficient than the other treatment groups. This result is similar to other studies performed which also shows that long-term feeding of ractopamine to pigs will result to less efficient feed conversion due to the down regulating effect of ractopamine in cells after long term administration. In terms of economic profitability, it shows that administration of ractopamine at the finishing stage can increase the net profit. It also shows that administration of ractopamine at the finishing stage can decrease the cost of feed per unit body gain by making the pigs more efficient in converting the feed into meat. The results of the study show that supplementation of ractopamine is profitable if given during the finishing stages. | Thesis (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) 28 cm..

Place hold on Evaluation of the growth performance of pigs fed with ractopamine hydrochloride supplemented rations/

Management practices and identification of common parasites of native pigs in rural villages of Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Ballang, Jefrey R..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2015 .
xii, 53 leaves : , A study was conducted to determine the management practices of native pigs in the rural villages in eight barangays of Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya Native pig population in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya constitutes a small percentage of the overall pig population of the said province. There is little documented information regarding the management of native pigs in Bayombong Hence, the study was conducted to inspect/scrutinize the smallholders native pig project management practices in particular areas in Bayombong, to advance production and condense public health risks, since smallholders pig farming in the said municipality is an important means of livelihood The identification of common parasites of the indigenous pig will help the raiser improve their knowledge on how to prevent the proliferation of the parasitic disease. Most of the native pigs examined/inspected come from Cabuaan (36%), Ipil Cuneg (21%), 9% each from Bansing and Busilac, and 6% each from Casat, Magapuy. Masoc and Upper Magsaysay All were positive to strongyle Majority of the animals are 11 to 20 (42%), and 21to 30 months old (39%) Females constitute64% and 36 percent are males So far, forage is the number one type of feeding (76%), followed by feeds (21%) and only three percent for darak feeding Their housing type is semi-permanent which is about 40 percent and 33 and seven percent for under the trees and concrete type, respectively Majority of these animals are under wormed (82%) and none of them were vaccinated yet. One hundred percent of external parasites found were flies (Musca Domestica), and the fecalysis results show that 15% and 12% of these animals were positive to Ascaris sp. and Trichuris sp., respectively but all were positive to strongyle. The 15% that were found positive to Ascaris came from Bansing, Cabuaan, Casat, Ipilcuneg and Masoc. The experimental design used was complete randomized design (CRD). Treatment I was fed without the addition of Ractopamine hydrochloride (RAC) in their ration, treatment 2 was fed with the addition of 12 ppm Ractopamine hydrochloride (RAC) in their ration during the finisher stage and treatment 3 was fed with the addition of 3 ppm Ractopamine hydrochloride (RAC) in their ration during the starter and grower stage. The duration of feeding in each stage were 28 days After the feeding trial, animals from each group were slaughtered and were subjected to evaluation of the carcass measures and meat quality. The average initial weights of treatment I was 18.72 kg. treatment 2 was 16 77 kg and treatment 3 was 1786 kg, respectively. The final weights before slaughter were 89.00 kg in T1 and 88 50 kg in T2 and 85 83 kg in T3, respectively The average carcass weights of T1, T2, and T3 were 66 833 kg. 66 537 kg and 64 427 kg, respectively. The average carcass recovery of T1, T2 and T3 were 75 250%, 75 183% and 75 185%, respectively. The statistical analysis shows that there are no significant differences in all parameters. But the result of the study shows that there was a small difference in the final weight of every treatment as well as the carcass weight and carcass recovery All the treatments achieved the ideal carcass recovery of more than 70% of the live weight. In terms of back fat thickness, there was an 8.27% reduction (2 17 cm.) on T2 and 14.69% reduction (2.30 cm.) on T3 over the control (2.54 cm.). Particularly, it sought to answer the following areas of concern: profile of the school principals and teachers; perceived level of performance on the supervisory roles and functions of the principal in terms of competence and leadership, supervisory roles towards teachers and competence as stewards of students. The study involved a total of 86 respondents comprising principals, sample of permanently hired teachers according to position Teacher I-III, Master Teachers of the 12 public elementary schools in the District of Bagabag 1 Division of Nueva Vizcaya. A survey questionnaire coupled with data analysis based from the Educational Management Information System (EMIS) was the primary data gathering tools. The study was conducted for the School Year 2014-2015. Results revealed that in terms of the profile of the school principals, majorities were females, married and most respondents occupy Teacher I to III positions. Majority obtained baccalaureate degrees while only a few pursued post-graduate studies. As to the perceived level of supervisory roles and functions of the school principal along competence and leadership, supervisory roles towards teachers, and the principal's competence as stewards of students, they rated positively all these areas. The school performance of the elementary schools as reflected through the pupil performanceindicators shows that they were performing nearly within the standards in terms of participation, retention, survival, repetition, promotion, completion, drop-out, graduation, failure and achievement rate. They were compliant to the national standard of 100% graduation rate of pupils. When the perceptions of the school principals were compared in terms of gender on the areas of the principal's competence and leadership, supervisory roles towards teachers, and the competence as stewards of students, the male and females had similar perceptions. In terms of civil status, the perceptions of the married and single respondents were similar across all areas of the supervisory roles and functions of a school principal. In terms of position, the Teacher 1-3 positions gave higher marks to the different areas of the functions and duties of a school principal compared to those who occupy the Master Teacher position. Comparing the perceptions of the respondents considering the length of service, those who had 10 years and below service had higher means perceptions compared to those with 11-20 years and 21 years and above service on the areas of principal's competence and leadership, and supervisory roles towards teachers. However, all groups had similar perceptions on the competencies of the principal as stewards of students. Overlapping of school activities and lack of school funds to finance school activities emerged as the dominant problems that affect the school improvement initiatives of the school principals. | Thesis (Master of Education - Educational Administration) 28 cm..

Place hold on Supervisory roles and functions of elementary school administrators in relation to school performance/

Competency-based performance of kindergarten teachers and the early childhood development skills of pupils in public elementary schools of Nueva Vizcaya/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Diaz, Charley Camungao.
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2015 .
xii, 78 leaves : , Kindergarten is the first step in a formal education pre-requisite to Grade 1 as stipulated in Kindergarten Education Act (Republic Act 10157). This education level is a critical year for children where their experiences nurture positive approaches to learning and prepare them for the more thorough academic expectations of the primary grades (National Association for the Education of Young Children, 2009). The study determined the best predictors of teaching performance emanating from the teachers and pupils using a Multivariate Linear Regression Analysis. Twenty kindergarten teachers together with the 275 kindergarten pupils proportionately and randomly selected from the 875 kindergarten pupils enrolled in the different public schools of Nueva Vizcaya were the respondents. A researcher-made questionnaire was used to gather the demographic profile of the teacher-respondents. The Competency-Based Performance Appraisal System for Teachers (CB-PAST) result was the basis of teacher's teaching performance. The Early Childhood Development Checklist (ECCD) Post-Test result was used as the level of kindergarten pupils' level of early childhood development. The study found that five out of seven best predictors of teachers' teaching performance emanated from the teachers themselves; these were teachers' dialect spoken, ethnicity, civil status, number of seminars/trainings, and number of years in teaching kindergarten. The pupils' dialect spoken and preschools attended were likewise determined as predictors of teachers' teaching performance. | Thesis (Master of Education - Educational Administration) 28 cm..

Place hold on Competency-based performance of kindergarten teachers and the early childhood development skills of pupils in public elementary schools of Nueva Vizcaya/

Effect of aromatic plant extracts (mint, ginger, and lemon rind) on the quality and acceptability of instant bili (Garcinia vidalii) tea/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Biwit, Lovelyn A..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University; 2015 .
xi, 38 leaves : , This study aimed to develop an instant tea with great appeal to the target clientele, determine the potential use of bili fruit juice as a flavored health tea and find out the effect of the aromatic plant extracts on its acceptability and quality in terms of color/appearance, flavor and taste. Sensory evaluation was made by 10 laboratory panelist using the 9-point Hedonic scale. Data gathered were subjected to the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to determine if there were significant differences between treatments. No significant differences were observed on the quality in terms of appearance/color, flavor and general acceptability between and among the tea formulations. The mean ratings for all quality factors as well as overall acceptability have descriptive equivalent ranging from "like moderately" to "like very much" in the Hedonic Scale. These results showed that addition of the aromatic plant extracts in the level used in the study did not enhance the quality and acceptability of the "bili" tea.
