This ethno linguistic group is the least studied and described as ethnographically invisible. The following places namely: Ahin, Tabuy and Tinek in the municipality of Tinoc (Tinek), province of Ifugao in the Cordillera Region, Philippines are considered as the ancestral places of the Kalanguya. This study aimed to describe the origin, culture and language of the Kalanguya using crystallized qualitative research design. The different genres such as: ethnohistory, ethnography and ethnolinguistic are presented in this study. The sources of the data are the informants and the researcher herself. These data are analyzed using autoethnographic method, multimodal and componential method of analyses. The Kalanguya origin is described based on legend, baki and genealogy. Legendary origin and baki mentioned that the first Kalanguya ancestors were spared at Mt. Pulag during the deluge. Genealogy stories of the Kalanguya folks including some Kankana-ey, Ibaloy and Tuwali speakers, consistently mentioned Ahin Valley as the origin of their ancestors. The existence of the old rice fields and the Salt River in the area validated the point of origin. The non material culture portrayed the beliefs, values, folk songs, dances and indigenous knowledge of farming of the Kalanguya while the material culture is revealed in the foods, clothing, ornament, blanket, house, tools, equipment, music and musical instruments. The study of the language described the phonology, morphology and syntax of Kalanguya language. These descriptions justified that Kalanguya is a distinct indigenous group with a distinct culture and language. However, it is a complex ethnolinguistic group: linguistically, their language is related to Pangasinense and Ibaloy, culturally, they are related to Ibaloy, Kankana-ey and Tuwali group. | Thesis (Doctor of Philosophy by Research Work - Multilingual Education) 28 cm..

Place hold on Kalanguya: the people and their language/

Azolla (azolla pinnata) meal inclusion in the concentrate ration of goats (capra hircus)./
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Apostol Jr., Arsenio M. .
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2014 .
xxv, 90 leaves : , This study was conducted to determine the nutritive potentials of different levels of azolla meal inclusion in the concentrate ration of goats. Specifically, it aimed to: a) determine the nutrient composition of azolla meal b) determine an evaluate the effects of azolla meal goat diets in terms of gain in body weight, feed consumption, feed conversion efficiency and protein efficiency ratio and c) assess the economy of azolla meal as inclusion in the concentrate ratio of goat in terms of returns above cost of azolla meal. Five dietary treatments were used in the feeding trial. Four levels of azolla meal (15, 20, 25 and 30%) served as components of Diets II, III, IV and V while Diet 1 was the control treatment. The dietary treatments wrer arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), replicated thrice with three heads per replication. Dry water recovery of azolla was 5.42%. Complete proximate analysis revealed that azolla mela continued 10.6% crude protein, 90.0% fat, 23.70% fiber, 19.60% moisture, 0.50% ash, and 44.70%NFE. Energy determination revealed GE content of 2904 cal/g, while mineral analysis revealed 1.6% Ca and 0.3% P contents. Similar initial weights of experimental goats (ranged from 18.00 to 18.67 kg) were noted indicating homogeneity which is a requirement for CRD experiment. The experimental goats were selected from considerable number of stocks base on their weight and age before these were randomly distributed to their respective treatment groups and replications. Highly significant differences on the final weights were observed. Final and average weights ranged from 22.50 to 27.67 kilogram and 3.83 to 9.00 kilogram respectively. No significant variations were noted on the average monthly forage consumption during the feeding trial showing similar performance in this parameter. However, concentrate and azolla meal consumption of the experimental animals showed highly significant differences. Goats fed Diet V (30% AM) consumed the least concentrate feed but have eaten higher amounts of AM. Highly significant difference on the FCR was noted. Goats given Diet V (30%AM) diets performed better in terms of FCR than those in control other azolla meal-treated diets. Protein efficiency ratio of the experimental animals ranged from 1.65 to 2.81. Highly significant difference on the PER was observed among the experimental animals given the dietary treatments. Goats fed Diet V (30% AM) converted protein more efficiently than those in other treatment groups. Return above AM cost of goats increases with the increasing percent inclusion rate of azolla meal in the diets. Final weight ranged from 22.50 to 27.67 kg. The average final gain in weight ranged from 3.83 to 9.00 kilogram. Highly significant differences on the gain in weight of goats in the different dietary treatments were observed. Experimental animals fed with 0% azolla meal gave the lowest return above azolla meal cost. Experimental animals given the 30%azolla meal (Treatment V) incurred the highest return above azolla meal cost which translated to better returns when compared to goats fed with the other treatment diets. With all these findings and information, it could be deduced azolla meal could be safely incorporated in the diets of goats as high as 30 percent. | Thesis (Master of Science - Animal Science) 28 cm..

Place hold on Azolla (azolla pinnata) meal inclusion in the concentrate ration of goats (capra hircus)./

Performance in teacher’s english proficiency test (tept) and national achievements test (nat) performance in english of grade iii pupils in northern districts of Nueva Vizcaya/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Lilagan, Luvella U. .
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2014 .
xii, 75 leaves : , This study aimed to determine the relationship between the teachers' performance in English Proficiency Test and National Achievement Test performance of Grade III pupils in English of the nine Northern Districts in the Division of Nueva Vizcaya. The descriptive-inferential method of research was employed. The data were analyzed using the descriptive and inferential statistics through the correlation procedures. The subjects of study were the ninety-nine (99) Grade three teachers who took the Teachers' English Proficiency Test (TEPT) on April 28, 2013. The data gathered used questionnaire on the teacher-respondents profile and records of the result of TEPT and National Achievement Test (NAT) III in English from the records of the Department of Education, Division of Nueva Vizcaya. Frequency, percentage distribution and standard deviation were utilized for profiling the teacher-respondents. For the level of performance of teachers in the TEPT and NAT performance in English of Grade III pupils, the mean percentage score and standard deviation was used. In determining whether there is a significant difference between the NAT performance in English of Grade III pupils and the teachers' performance in TEPT when teachers are grouped according to the level of TEPT, the test of difference (t-test/F-test) was used. Test of significant relationship employed the Pearson-Moment Correlation Coefficient and the coefficient of multiple determinations and multiple regressions were used to compute the predictors. The test on the significance is set at 0.05. The following conclusions were drawn: As to the Profile of the Grade III Teachers of the Northern District of Nueva Vizcaya - Majority of the respondents were within the middle age, are dominated by females, and less than majority of the respondents' parents are college graduate. For the Academic Related Profile of the Grade III Teachers More than majority of the teachers teaching grade 3 were enrolled in advanced courses, all are eligible, less than majority of the respondents were Teacher III, less than majority are still new in the service, and more than majority taught the pupils for a period of 1-5 years and a very low percentage of them attended regional level seminars. The Level of Performance of Teachers in the TEPT is moderate. The Level of Performance of Grade III Pupils in NAT English is average. Generally, the NAT performance level of the pupils of the respondents is within average as indicated by the overall average MPS of 62.04. The performance of grade III pupils in NAT English is not associated with the teachers' performance in English Proficiency Test. The teachers' performance in TEPT is associated to the variables age, performance rating and years in service. The pupils' performance in NAT English is not influenced by the teachers' performance in English Proficiency Test. The teachers' performance in English Proficiency Test is linked with pupils' performance in NAT English particularly in grammar. The teachers' performance in English Proficiency Test stood out to be independent to any predictors or variables. | Thesis (Master of Education - Educational Administration) 28 cm..

Place hold on Performance in teacher’s english proficiency test (tept) and national achievements test (nat) performance in english of grade iii pupils in northern districts of Nueva Vizcaya/

Performance evaluation and impact assessment of burgos small water impounding project (swip) in Cabarroguis, Quirino/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Naval, Rey C..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2014 .
xi, 87 leaves : , The study was conducted to characterize, assess the irrigation and cropping practices, determine the socioeconomic impact and evaluate the water productivity of Burgos Small Water Impounding Project (SWIP) in Cabarroguis, Quirino. The site was characterized using Global Positioning System (GPS) which was processed using Geographic Information System (GIS) to generate maps. The study made use of structured questionnaire to gather the socio-demographic profile, irrigation and cropping practices and assess the socioeconomic impact of SWIP to the farmer-beneficiaries. It utilized climatic data taken from the Automatic Weather Station of Quirino State University, Diffun, Quirino as input to the CROPWAT model together with the cropping calendar, cropping intensity, yield and income of the farmer-beneficiaries to analyze the water productivity of the system. Most of the farmer-beneficiaries of Burgos SWIP are males, aged 40-59 years old, married with below four household members, Roman Catholic, high school graduates and some are members of cooperatives. They are rice farmers, have attended 1-2 trainings related to farming and own a 1.00 to 1.99 hectares farm. They are growing inbred rice varieties through transplanting from June to October for the first cropping and November to March for the second cropping, spray their rice farms at the early stage of disease/pest occurrence, use paddy to paddy method of water distribution and allow standing water to a depth of 2-3 cm, use commercial inorganic fertilizers practicing side and top dressing, weed once per copping manually, land prepares twice through harrowing and usually receive enough water in most of the stages of their rice plants after the SWIP. The SWIP has a positive impact as confirmed by the increase in yield and in net income of the farmer-beneficiaries. It contributed a significant increase of 2.14 tons/year in the mean yield generating an additional income of PhP32,113.64. The computed output per unit irrigated area and output per unit command area of Burgos SWIP of PhP41,004.06/ha and PhP22,622.48/ha is lower than most of the irrigation systems in the region. This may be attributed to the absence of lateral canals to convey water within the service area. The output per unit water consumed by evapotranspiration is PhP2.48/m³ while the output per unit irrigation supply is PhP4.65/m³ which indicates that there is a PhP2.17 loss in production per cubic meter of water loss due to evaporation, seepage and percolation. | Thesis (Master of Science - Agricultural Engineering) 28 cm..

Place hold on Performance evaluation and impact assessment of burgos small water impounding project (swip) in Cabarroguis, Quirino/

Gross and histopathological evaluation of the hepato. protective properties of native guava (psidium guajava linn. var native guava) leaf extract on ccl. fed white mice (mus musculus)/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Hombrebueno, R-Jay A..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2014 .
xii, 48 leaves : , Guava has received intense interest from scientists in different countries due to its role in traditional medicine in different countries Guava has been used extensively by different cultures to treat numerous diseases and has been generally consumed to improve over-all health. The experiment was laid out following Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with subsamples and with the following treatments Treatment 1 No medication given (Negative Control), Treatment 2 Insulin (Positive Control) and Treatment 3 - Hybrid Guava Leaf Extract. Each treatment was replicated 3 times, and each replicate has 6 experimental mice (3 males and 3 females) with a total of 54 diabetic mice used in the study. Based on the result of this study, hybrid guava leaf extract at 200 mg/kg showed hypoglycemic effect on alloxan-induced diabetic white mice with NFBS and FBS levels both reduced. Differences between the final and initial NFBS and FBS concentration among treatment groups revealed a significant amount of blood glucose reduction in HGLE that is comparable to commercially available hypoglycemic drug insulin. Moreover, in female mice, HGLE and insulin treatment significantly lowered the blood sugar concentration with levels comparable with each other.
