The study used the descriptive-correlation research method through a Personal Data Sheet, Interview Guide, Records of Achievement, and Physical Fitness Test of the Department of Education, The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency counts and percentages, and inferential statistics. In determining the relationship in the level of physical fitness of the respondents and their demographic profile, Chi-square was used. Pearson was also used in determining the relationship between the demographic profile and physical fitness of the respondents and their academic performance. The study was conducted among freshmen at NVSU Bayombong and Bambang campuses, school year 2011-2012. Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions were drawn: The freshmen of NVSU are within the regular age of the year level they belong. They are also within the normal height and weight of a first year student, Ilocano andRoman Catholic. The students came from poor families with parents who had finished secondary level in their formal education. In school, most of the students were enrolled in early morning class schedule. The level of the academic performance of the respondents is described as satisfactory to very satisfactory. The students of NVSU were within below target level in their Physical fitness. The demographic variables such as age, gender, course and height when taken together can predict or explain their physical fitness level. (4.b) There was no significant difference in the physical fitness of the NVSU students when grouped according to weight, ethnicity, religion, income of the parents and attainment of the parents, occupation of parents, class schedule and status of students. There was no significant relationship between the profile and the academic performance of the freshmen of NVSU. Specifically, this study aimed to determine the effects of the different levels of rice bran on the squarrot mellorine in terms of its acceptability and quality. Sensory evaluation was made by ten (10) laboratory panelists using the 9-point Hedonic Scale. Data gathered were subjected to the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to determine if there were significant differences between treatments. The Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) was used to determine which of the treatment differed from each other. Results of the study showed that of the three nutri-dense squarrot mellorine formulations the squarrot mellorine with 5% rice bran was as desirable in texture and flavor as the mellorine without rice bran (control). The mellorine with 10% rice bran on the other hand, obtained significantly lower mean ratings in all quality factors evaluated as well as in its overall acceptability. Increasing the amount of rice bran in the formulation causes a corresponding lower rating on the color and overall acceptability of the resulting product. These results indicate that the maximum level of rice bran that can be used to enrich squarrot mellorine without negatively affecting the texture and flavor of the mellorine is 5%. 28 cm..

Place hold on Quality and acceptability of nutri-dense squarrot mellorine enriched with different levels (5% and 10%) of rice bran/

Prevalence of tuberculosis in goats (capra hircus) in selected farms in Nueva Vizcaya/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Del Rosario, Mascot Wally D..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2013 .
xiii, 32 leaves : , The study was conducted in December-February 2013 in selected farms in four municipalities of Nueva Vizcaya. It aimed to determine the presence of tuberculosis infection among goat stocks using Tuberculin test. A total of 146 goats of different ages were used in the study. Prevalence of tuberculosis of goats was assessed in relation to classification and sex for animal. Tuberculin PPD was administered intradermally on the critical region of the test animals, and reaction was evaluated 3 days after injection. The survey showed that no test animal reacted to tuberculin test. Specifically, the study aimed to compare the larvicidal effect of A. oligospora using different concentrations against commercially prepared larvicides (malathion™) and to determine the mode of action in parasitism of A oligospora on the larva of M. domestica using Lethal Dose 50 (LD50) through microscopic examination every three (3) hours interval. Synchronized reproduction of adult common housefly to produce similar stage of 1 larva instar was done. A total of 250 larvae were used in the study wherein 10 larvae were used for each treatment. There were five treatments, each treatment was replicated five times as follows: 11- Malathion (positive control), T2 Distilled Water (negative control), T3-2000 spores of NF, T4-4000 spores of NF, TS-6000 spores NF. The study showed and proved that nematophagous fungi is comparable with commercially prepared larvicide (malathion) in terms of percentage mortality starting 36 hours until 48 hours exposure. Therefore, it is effective as biological control against larva of common housefly. Based on the result of the study, nematophagous fungi has the ability to kill larva of the common housefly by causing entrapment that led to stress, inability to move and eat until thin hyphae penetrate the cuticle of larva which swells to become infection bulbs and cause it to undergo lysis. Nematophagous fungi is recommended as alternative to commercially prepared insecticide because of its comparable effect. It is also recommended that the next researcher will conduct the following: practical application of nematophagous fungi on chicken feces using alkalinize to offset the acidity of feces; conduct histopathological exam in evaluating larvicidal effect on nematophagous fungi; use other alternative culture medium for A. oligospora aside from Potato Dextrose Agar anduse other method of application of treatments. | Thesis (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) 28 cm..

Place hold on Predaceous activity and efficacy of nematophagous fungi (arthrobotry oligospora) on the larva of common housefly (mus domestica)/

A survey on the Gastrointestinal parasites of muscovy duck (cairina moschus) in the municipality of Nueva Vizcaya/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Jenitiano, Robert R..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2013 .
xii, 32 leaves : , The study was conducted to determine the parasites present in the gastrointestinal tract of Muscovy ducks in the Municipality of Solano, Nueva Vizcaya, provide data to the municipal agriculture office and provide recommendations to the farmers on the proper medication and treatment of their animals. The samples were randomly collected from selected meat stalls in four public markets of Solano, Bayombong, Bambang, and Aritao from February 04- March 01, 2013, and were analyzed at National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS)-Central Meat Laboratory. Out of 100 samples examined, 70% were contaminated with Salmonella spp., while 91% of the samples were positive for E. coli. All of the four public markets have Salmonella and E. coli contaminated pork being sold. Among the four public markets, Bambang has the highest contamination rate for Salmonella spp. with 100% of the samples (n=25) being contaminated while Aritao and Bayombong have high contamination rates for E. coli with 96% of the samples that tested positive. Differences in contamination rates among the four public markets is highly significant for Salmonella (P=0.000) but not for E. coli (P=0.157). Level of contamination of E. coli in the four public markets ranges from 15.82 - 43.65MPN / g Differences in the mean E. coli count among four public markets is highly significant (P = 0.039) Mean aerobic plate count of pork samples ranges from 1.8 x 105 CFU / g (Bayombong) to 4 x 105 CFU / g (Bambang). In terms of pH value, out of 100 samples, 63 had a pH value below 5.7, 34 samples with a pH value between 5.7-6.1, and three samples with pH above 6.1. Mean pH value (5.83) of meat samples from Bayombong (60%) are within the acceptable range in terms of keeping quality while samples from the other three public markets are below the range of 5.7-6.1. There was a significant difference in mean pH value and aerobic plate count of samples from four public markets (P = 0.003). Results of this study revealed that food-borne pathogens Salmonella and Escherichia coli are prevalent in raw retail pork sold in selected public markets in Nueva Vizcaya. As such raw pork can be considered as a potential vehicle for transmitting food-borne illnesses to humans. Findings of this study stress the need for strict monitoring and surveillance of food-borne pathogens in meat and increased consumer awareness on food safety through consumer education. | Thesis (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) 28 cm..

Place hold on Prevalence of salmonella spp. and eschericha coli in retail pork in selected public markets of Nueva Vizcaya/

Wound epithelialization effect of guava (psidium guajava l.) and physic nut (jatropha curcus) leaves esxtract on induced wound of laboratory mice (mus musculus)/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Brosas, Mark Renier C. .
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2013 .
xvi, 60 leaves : , Prior to the study, guava leaf extract was subjected to phytochemical analysis which revealed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, steroids and tannins but without glycosides and saponins while physic nut leaf extract manifested the presence of alkaloids, glycosides, steroids and tannins but lacked flavonoids and saponins. Significant F-values were further subjected to the Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) to identify which of the treatments differed from each other. Results showed that there were no significant differences on the color/appearance of the finished products. In terms of texture, flavor and taste, the embutido was found to be the most desirable followed by longganisa. Meatballs were the least desirable in the quality factors tested. In terms of overall acceptability, highly significant differences were observed. Embutido was "liked extremely" while the longganisa was "liked very much" by the panelists. The meatballs were only "liked moderately". These results imply that rice bran can be used as functional food ingredient in embutido and longganisa but not in meatballs as it exerts a negative effect on its acceptability and quality. 28 cm..

Place hold on Quality and acceptability of rice bran as functional food ingredient in comminuted meat products/

About entrepreneurship/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Bjerke, Bjorn.
Cheltenham, UK: Edward Elgar Publishing, 2013 .
viii, 283 pages : 24 cm..

Place hold on About entrepreneurship/

Bacteria: the bening, the bad, and the beautiful/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Wassenaar, Trudy M..
New Jersey: John Wiley and Sons, 2013 .
ix, 215 pages : 23 cm..

Place hold on Bacteria:

Manufacturing enterprise in asia/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Mazumdar, Dipak.
London: Rougtledge, 2013 .
xviii, 341 pages : 24 cm..

Place hold on Manufacturing enterprise in asia/

A textbook of chordate embryology /
<dc:identifier>ISBN:978-93-81052-93-8 (pbk.)</dc:identifier>

By Kainth, Muneesh.
New Delhi: Wisdom Press, 2013 .
[viii], 485 p. : 23 cm..
978-93-81052-93-8 (pbk.)

Place hold on A textbook of chordate embryology /

Modern Communication Systems Using MATLAB.
<dc:identifier>ISBN:(pbk.)</dc:identifier>

By Proakis, John G..
Cengage Learning, 2013 .
580 p.
