A sensory panel composed of ten members rated the sensory quality and general acceptability of the products using the 9-point Hedonic Scale. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) for a completely randomized design (CRD) was used in the analysis of data. Results of the study showed that the quality and acceptability of tiesa pudding with different levels (10, 20 and 30 percent) of tiesa pulp differed significantly with that of the control in terms of flavor/taste and general acceptability. Result of the evaluation on the general acceptability of the experimental tiesa pudding indicate that the addition of tiesa pulp in the tiesa pudding formulation caused a significant negative effect on the finished products. The treatment 4 were rated as "Like moderately" by the panelist while the control and treatment 2 and 3 were given a rating "Like Very much". Results of the study show that the use of 30% tiesa pulp in the pudding formulation causes a negative effect on the flavor/taste and general acceptability of the resulting product. The other pudding formulations with 10% and 20% tiesa were found to be as acceptable as the control in terms of quality and general acceptability. Sensory evaluation was made by 10 laboratory panelists the using 9-point Hedonic Scale. Data gathered were subjected to the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) for a completely randomized design (CRD) to determine if there were significant differences between treatments. The Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) was used to determine which of the treatments differed from each other. The quality of all the cream puffs in terms of color/appearance and texture were "very desirable" except in flavor/taste where the overpowering durian flavor apparently durian caused a negative effect. However, the mean ratings for the three experimental cream puff filling which ranged from 7.7 to 7.9 had a descriptive equivalent of "very desirable". In terms of general acceptability, all the cream puff formulations had the same degree of acceptability. They were all liked very much by the panelists. These results imply that except for flavor/taste durian does not cause a negative effect on the quality and acceptability of the resulting product. The camote and squash used to mellow down the overpowering/obnoxious flavor of durian exerted no significant effect on the flavor of the finished products. 28 cm..

Place hold on Quality and acceptability of durian (Durio zibethinus Linn.)-based fillings for cream puff/

Effects of different levels (40, 50, 60%) of squash (Cucurbita maxima Linn.) pulp as mango (Mangifera indica Linn.) pulp substitute on the quality and acceptability of mellorine/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Magno, Lady Lair D..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University; 2012 .
xi, 36 leaves : , This study aimed to develop a cheaper and healthier version of ice cream -the mellorine by incorporating different levels of squash formulation Specifically, this study aimed to determine the effects of different levels (40, 50, and 60%) of squash pulp as mango pulp substitute on the quality and acceptability of mellorine. Twenty (20), randomly selected adult goats from Villaross, Bagabag. Nueva Vizcaya were used in the study. The experiment composed of five treatments, Each with four replications. It followed the Completely Randomized Design (CRD), with the following treatments 1, Negative Control (water), T₂-Positive Control (Albendazole), T3-10 grams of ground squash seeds per head of goat; T4-20 grams of ground squash seeds per head of goat, T5-30 grams of ground squash seeds per head of goat. Result showed that the highest dose of GSS was effective against Strongyloides and it is comparable to the effect of albendazole. Although a reduction in strongyle egg counts was observed in all treatments with different doses of GSS, the percentage efficacy is so low that it is considered ineffective. The ground squash seeds could be used as an alternative anthelmintic especially against Strongyloides. A follow up study can be done and consider increasing the dosage of GSS against other Helminthes. In addition, squash seed can be tested in other animals. The water samples were collected every after two days. Water samples came from different stations with different water purification stages. Twelve stations were used coming from the list of registered refilling stations released by the municipals licensing office. Water samples were subjected to Multiple-tube fermentation technique or presence absence procedure was used through the presumptive-confirmed-completed test for the total and fecal coliform. Based on the test, it shows that there are eight (8) refilling stations that showed gas bubbles which are indicative of positive results. This means that coliforms were present in water samples. It is therefore recommended that refilling stations personnel must regularly check the water purification machines and must have regular water testing in accredited laboratories. Consumers must be concerned since that contaminated water can bring outbreak of disease in the community. | Thesis (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) 28 cm..

Place hold on Coliform bacterial contamination of consumable water products of refilling stations in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya/

Acaricidal efficacy of kakawate (gliricidia sepium.) leaf extract against tropical cattle tick (boophilus microplus)/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Gabatin, Marc Benedict M..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2012 .
xiii, 33 leaves : , The study compared the acaricidal effect of kakawate leaf with the commercially available acaricide (Coumaphos) The study was laid out using the Complete Randomized Design with the following Treatments: Treatment 1 - Coumaphos (Positive Control), Treatment 2-25% KLE, Treatment 3 -50% KLE, Treatment 4-75% KLE, Treatment 5 Fresh Kakawate leaf extract and Treatment 6 - Negative Control (Water). To evaluate this, 30 urine samples measuring 5ml each were randomly collected from newly opened carcass. The samples were run through ELISA test for the detection of beta-agonist residues. Physical appearance such as meat color, muscle fiber and backfat thickness were observed in the carcass of every hog collected with urine sample. Results of the study revealed that among the 30 urine samples, 22 (73%) were positive with clenbuterol and with residues levels ranging from 200ppt (Probe Std2) to >8100ppt (Probe Std6). Two from the 22 samples have readings of >8100ppt (>Probe Std6) level of residues. The occurrence of beta-agonist in urine of hogs is highly significant (P = 0.000) This indicates that slaughtered hogs in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya were positive to beta-agonist particularly clenbuterol. The level of beta-agonist and the source of hog is insignificantly correlated ( r = 0.44, P = 0.15) However, commercially raised hogs (84%) were found to have higher residue readings compared to backyard raised and seven samples with residues levels 900->8100ppt were from commercial farms. Although the comparisons of physical appearance of meat such as color (r = 0.52, P = 0.12 ) and muscle fiber ( r = 0.16 , P =0.26) with the levels of beta-agonist residues are not significantly correlated, the backfat thickness however is highly significant (P=-0.44). Most of the hogs from Solano slaughterhouse were positive for clenbuterol. However, there is higher level of residues from commercial farms compared to backyards. This could be attributed to frequent or excessive incorporation of lean meat enhancer in feeds by commercial raisers for better economic reasons such as lesser inputs of feeds and manpower and shorter raising period and possible accessibility of the drug through distributors. An observable physical characteristic and a reliable parameter indicating the use of lean enhancer (beta-agonist) in hog is backfat thickness. Beta-agonist is known to cause thinner backfat but produces leaner meat, and so there is an inversely proportional relationship between backfat thickness and leanness of meat in pork. | Thesis (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine 28 cm..

Place hold on Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (elisa) detection of beta-agonist resides in urine of hogs/

Case studies of top performing public elementary schools in the division of Nueva Vizcaya/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Gahate, Revilyn M..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2012 .
xiv, 135 leaves : , This study aimed to identify and analyze the profile of the school, school heads and teachers as well as the prevailing practices of the school heads and teachers of the top performing public elementary schools in the Division of Nueva Vizcaya. The study was laid out following the Complete Randomized Design (CRD), with 6 treatments each replicated three times with the following treatments: Treatment 1 (carbaryl), Treatment 2 (100% Chrysanthemum flower powder), Treatment 3 (75% Chrysanthemum flower powder), treatment 4 (50% Chrysanthemum flower powder), treatment 5 (25% Chrysanthemum flower powder), and Treatment 6 (100% tale powder). Based on the result of the study, Chrysanthemum proved that it has an insecticidal effect against the brown dog tick (Rhipicephalus sanguineus). Although, the result showed that chrysanthemum powder exhibited insecticidal effect it was not as effective as the positive control Carbaryl. However, this plant could provide as an alternative to the commercially available acaricidal powder. | Thesis (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) 28 cm..

Place hold on The effect of chrysanthemum powder on the brown on the brown dog trick (rhipecephalus sanguineus) in vitro/

Efficacy of Ampalaya (momordica charantia) seed extract against dog flea (ctenocephalides canis) in vitro/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Lumpias, Marjeri Mae K..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2012 .
xii, 30 leaves : , The study determined the ectoparasiticidal efficacy of Ampalaya Seed Extract (ASE) using different concentrations and times of exposure against dog flea (Ctenocephalides canis), determined the best level of concentration of Ampalaya Seed Extract against dog flea and the study also compared its efficacy with the available commercially prepared ectoparasiticidal drug coumaphos. The study was conducted in two sets: Staphylococcus aureus was used as the test organism with (Peniciilin G) as control. The treatments were designated as follows: Treatment 1 (Pen G), Treatment 2 (25% PLE), Treatment 3 (50% PLE), Treatment 4 (75% PLE), and Treatment 5 (100% PLE). The second set used (Streptomycin) as control and Escherichia coli as the test organism with the used of Patani leaf extract in varying doses of concentrations as follows: 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%. Zone of inhibition after 12 hours of incubation of Staphylococcus aureus showed that T3, T4, T5 exhibited moderate antibacterial efficacy and are comparable to each other. No zone of inhibition noted in T2 (25% Leaf extract) throughout the 36-hour duration of the study. After 24 to 36 hours of incubation T3 (50% Leaf extract) continue to have better degree of antimicrobial efficacy as compared with that of T4 and T5. The descending zone of inhibition obtained from T4, and T5 might be due to the difficulty ofthe crude extract to diffuse through the agar. In the study using the Escherichia coli, patani leaf extract at different concentrations after varying hours of incubation did not exhibit any significant effect on the bacterial growth as the Escherichia coli colonies formed around close to the patani leaf extract sample disks. No zones of inhibition were observed in these treatments except for the positive control. The result of the study revealed a certain degree of antimicrobial efficacy of patani leaf extract against Staphylococcus aureus but not against gram negative Escherichia coli. Fifty percent (50%) dilution of the patani extract proved to be the optimum concentration that best inhibits staphylococci growth using agar diffusion test. However, it is not comparable to that observed in the commercially available antibiotic positive control treatment. | Thesis (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) 28 cm..

Place hold on Antimicrobial effect of patani (phaseolus lunatus linn.) leaf extract against staphyloccus aureus (ATTC 25923) and escherichia coli (NRRL B-3709) in vitro/

Prevalence of tuberculosis among cattle (bos taurus) in two farms in Quirino/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Fernandez, Joylyn U..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2012 .
xiii, 38 leaves : , The study was conducted in February 2012 in two farms in Quirino. It aimed to determine the presence of tuberculosis among cattle stocks using tuberculin test. Cattle stocks came from different farms and raised based on the farm's own practice. A total of sixty-five (65) cattle (males and females) aging from suckling to breeders were used in the study. Classification and sex of animal were assessed in relation to the occurrence of tuberculosis in cattle. Furthermore, the "Tuberculin PPD Bovis intradermic" was administered intradermally on the cervical or neck region. Based on the result of the study, tuberculin test showed that none of the 65 test animals regardless of classification and sex showed positive reaction for tuberculosis.
