It was conducted to all the public elementary schools of Lamut District, Lamut, Ifugao during the School Year 2007 -2008. A total sample of 219 grade six pupils and 15 grade six science teachers served as respondents in the study. The researcher made use of descriptive correlation research method through questionnaire-checklist to gather pertinent data required in the study. The levels of performance of the pupils were their grades in Science VI during the first three grading periods of the School Year 2007-2008. To describe the data gathered, the study used frequency counts, percentages, means and standard deviations. In the analyses of the relationships between the variables, the study used correlation procedures through the Statistical Package for Social Statistics (SPSS version 10.00) with the 0.05 probability level as the critical point of reference. The result of the study indicated that younger children have higher level of performance in Science VI. Likewise, pupils whose father and mother are OFW, teachers and government employees have higher level of performance. Pupils whose father and mother who have higher educational attainment and with higher family income also have higher level of performance in Science VI. More amenities in the home of the respondents can also induce higlter level of performance in Science VI Teachers who have more number of children are those whose pupils who have higher level of performance in Science VI. There is insufficient evidence that the status of science teaching in the study sites is significantly related to the level of performance of pupils in Science VI. With the above results of the study, the following recommendations are forwarded: Pupils whose fathers are farmers, businessmen, drivers and technicians and pupils whose mothers are farmers, housekeepers and businesswomen should be given more attention in improving their performance in Science VI Likewise, pupils whose parents who have lower educational attainment and lesser number of amenities at home should be given extra attention in understanding their lessons in science to improve their performance. Teachers who have lesser number of children should emulate the strategies of their fellow teachers who have more children in teaching Science VI. Those with more children should share their effective strategies in teaching Science VI to improve the performance of pupils in Science VI in Lamut District. The status of science teaching should not be a sole basis in equating the performance of pupils in Science VI in the study sites. | Thesis (Master of Education in Science Education - General Science) 28 cm..

Place hold on Determinants of the performance of pupils in science vi in public elemetary schools of Lamut district/

Organizational climate and personal teaching efficacy of secondary school teachers in Kayapa, Nueva Vizcaya/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Daga, Romy Culayan.
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2008 .
xiii, 109 leaves : , This study was conducted to assess the organizational climate and personal teaching efficacy of the secondary school teachers in Kayapa, Nueva Vizcaya during the School Year 2006-2007. Specifically, it sought to determine the personal and professional profile, organizational climate, and the personal teaching efficacy of the teachers, determine if there is a significant relationship between the profile of the teachers and their organizational climate, between the profile of the teachers and their personal teaching efficacy, and between organizational climate and personal teaching efficacy. There were 54 teachers who served as respondents of the study out of the 62 teachers in the study sites. The primary instrument used was questionnaire Construct and content validity of the questionnaires had been established in several studies since these were adapted from previous research works Analysis was done using the descriptive statistics like frequency and percentage distribution, and appropriate correlation tests were used to determine the relationships between variables. In terms of personal profile, the study revealed that many of the respondents were from 26 to 30 years of age, majority were female teachers, more than two-thirdswere married and mostly Kalanguya. Majority of them were members of the Roman Catholic Church, many of them were receiving a monthly salary ranging from 19,001.00 to P11,000.00, while in terms of their professional profile, many of them were holders of Bachelors degree with Master's Units Most of them were PBET/LET passers, Teacher 1, with 1 to 5 years teaching experience, and majority of them were members of 1 to 3 professional organizations. On organizational climate, favorable teacher work environment, positive teacher-school head relationship, harmonious teacher-school head-community relationship, positive peer relationship, positive student-teacher relationship, and availability of functional school facilities exist, while the level of personal teaching efficacy of the teacher-respondents is qualitatively described as "effective Likewise, the study found a significant correlation between the following variables: 1) Profile and Organizational Climate Specifically, (a) teacher work environment is substantially correlated with teacher classification, length of service, and membership in professional organizations, (b) teacher-school head relationship has a negative significant correlation with in-service trainings attended, (c) student-teacher relationship has a positive significant correlation with age, civil status, monthly salary, teacher classification, length of service, employment status, and membership in professional organizations, (d) school resources is significantly correlated with highest educational attainment, length of service, and membership in professional organizations. 2) Profile and Personal Teaching Efficacy Specifically, (a) discipline is significantly correlated with civil status, (b) working with parents has a positive significant relationship with monthly salary and teacher classification, (c)planning is substantially correlated with civil statis, highest educational attainment, and civil service eligibility. 3) Organizational Climate and Personal Teaching Efficacy Specifically, (a) teacher work environment is significantly correlated with socialization; (b) teacher-school head relationship has a positive significant correlation with working with parents and socialization, (c) teacher-school head. community relationships has a positive significant correlation with discipline and working with parents, (d) peer relationship has a positive significant correlation with discipline, and (e) student-teacher relationship has a positive significant correlation with discipline, working with parent as well as planning Teachers who are older, married, higher monthly salary, higher position classification, longer length of service, permanent in status, and more number of membership in professional organizations perceived that there is more favorable organizational climate, while those who are married, with higher monthly salary. higher position, higher educational attainment and eligibilities have higher level of personal teaching efficacy. Teachers who have favorable organizational climate have higher level of personal teaching efficacy. To improve the organizational climate, teachers who have lesser number of years in service, lower position should be upgraded and motivated to attend in-service trainings and seek more membership to professional organizations. To improve the personal teaching efficacy, teachers who are single, with lower position should be motivated to increase membership in professional organizations, and those who are married, with higher educational attainment should assist other teachers. To improve personal teaching efficacy, organizational climate should be improved. | Thesis (Master of Education - Educational Administration) 28 cm. .

Place hold on Organizational climate and personal teaching efficacy of secondary school teachers in Kayapa, Nueva Vizcaya/

The perceptual learning style prefernces and performance in scinece of secondary students of NVSU/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Manuel Danny V..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2008 .
xv, 116 leaves : , This study explored the relationship between perceptual learning style preferences and level of performance in science. The study was conducted at the Nueva Vizcaya State University-Laboratory School, Bayombong Campus during the school year 2007-2008. A total sample of 228 secondary students served as the respondents of the study The researcher made use of the descriptive-correlation research method through the adapted and structured questionnaires to gather pertinent data required in the study. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The 0.05 probability level (level of significance) was the critical point of reference. The result of the study indicated that a remarkable number of the respondents had two major learning style preferences and most of them had multi-perceptual strengths. Moreover, the level of performance of the respondents in science is Satisfactory On students' profile and perceptual learning style preferences, the respondents belonging to Islam, Espiritista, and Evangelical churches were visuals. Likewise, those whose mothers were professionals, technical and related workers, managerial, and executives learn best through the visual learning style preference. On students' profile and level of performance in science, the profile used such as age, gender, ethnicity, religion/sect, number of children in the family, birth order, nature of residency, distance from home to school, educational attainment of parents, and occupation of parents did not significantly correlate with the level of performance in science of the respondents. On perceptual learning style preferences and level of performance in science, the higher the auditory, tactile, visual, and kinesthetic perceptual learning style preferences a student possessed, the higher the level of his performance in science With the above result of the study, the following recommendations are forwarded To improve the lesson absorption of the respondents belonging to Islam, Espiritista, and Evangelical churches, and those whose mothers are professionals, technical and related workers, managerial, and executives, the teaching style that is more on vissal should be more extensively used. To improve the performance of secondary students in Science, a holistic development of their perceptual learning style involving auditory, tactile, visual, and kinesthetic is imperative It is, then, suggested that the teachers should assess the perceptual learning style of the students in order that the learners' needs be given important consideration in planning and preparing the lessons. Since visual is the perceptual strengths of the respondents in this study, the teacher should use more visual aids in presenting the lessons. Such preparations should be highlighted in the lesson plans. Lecture forums should be coupled with visual presentations, as this would somehow provide the opportunity of learning where hands, minds and hearts differ from each other. Furthermore, the individual learning style preferences of the students are recommended to be one of the important concerns of the administrators and curriculum developers. This would help them to unify the individual similarities as well as differences of the learners. A student-teacher ratio is one factor to consider in increasing the student-teacher rapport in the classroom. In so doing, a more responsive and stimulating learning environment would be provided for the learners to maximize their talents and potentials, which is a significant point in the realization of the vision and mission of the institution. Moreover, it is highly recommended that researchers get on further on other researches that aim to determine the effect of perceptual fearning style preferences on performance in school, not only in Science subjects. Since the respondents in this study were heterogeneous in terms of performance and abilities, the same research is recommended to be done to other schools involving larger number of students, preferably belonging to different levels (elementary, high schools and college students) either in the public or private schools. It is also recommended that critical thinking appraisal, and exposure to mass media, be included as independent variables. The teaching styles of the teacher are also recommended to be taken as dependent variables. To validate the findings of this study, it is recommended that the same study with the same respondents be conducted after one year. | Thesis (Master of Education in Science Education - General Science) 28 cm..

Place hold on The perceptual learning style prefernces and performance in scinece of secondary students of NVSU/

Determinants of the national achievement test (nat) performance: a basis for instructional intervention/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Ganigan, Sharon Monayao.
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2008 .
xiii, 109 leaves : , The primary purpose of this study was to identify the determinants of the National Achievement Test (NAT) Performance as a basis for instructional intervention. To achieve the above aim, the study used the descriptive correlation research method through a structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics through the correlation procedures. The 0.05 probability level (level of significance) was the critical point of reference for the analysis of results. The study was conducted in fifteen (15) elementary schools distributed in the Lamut District of the Department of Education of Ifugao Province. Two hundred and eighteen (218), Grade VI pupils, eighty six (86) elementary school teachers, and nine (9) elementary school administrators served as the respondents for the study. The study was conducted during the second semester of school year 2007-2008. The study found that younger pupils belonging to lesser class size located in central schools, in single class type, with higher grades in English, Math, Science, Filipino, HEKASI, and with higher average grades in all subjects, are those who have higher overall performance rating in the NAT. Likewise, the study found out that teachers who have higher educational attainment and have more relevant teaching experience have pupils who garnered higher NAT achievement. The study indicated that administrators who are analyzers havehigher NAT achievement of their Grade VI pupils of their school than administrators who are motivators and achievers, Based from the above results, the study suggests that to improve the NAT performance in HEKASI of Grade VI pupils in the District of Lamut, enhancement activities such as remedial classes should target those older pupils belonging to bigger class sizes and located in non-central schools, in double class type, with lower grades in the subjects English, Math, Science, Filipino, HEKASI, and lower average grade in their subjects. Teachers who possess higher educational attainment and with more years of experience in teaching should wholeheartedly assist other teachers in devising teaching strategies that could improve the performance of their pupils and their school in the NAT. They should likewise assist in conducting NAT review classes in their schools. Moreover, administrators should acquire analyzer characteristics to effectively evaluate the causal factors to the performance of their pupils in the NAT for them to develop appropriate management strategies to enhance better performance of their teachers and eventually their pupils' performance as well as their school performance in the NAT. | Thesis (Master of Education - Educational Administration) 28 cm..

Place hold on Determinants of the national achievement test (nat) performance: a basis for instructional intervention/

Non-intellective and intellective determinants of the science annd mathematics performance of high school students/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Sicat, Mary Jane R..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2008 .
xiii, 94 leaves : , This study aimed to identify the non-intellective and intellective determinants of the Science and Mathematics performance of third year high school students in Solano District. To achieve the above aim, the study used the descriptive- correlation research method through a structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. In describing the data gathered, the study used frequency counts, percentages, means and standard deviations. In the analyses of relationships between the variables, the study used inferential statistics most specifically the correlation procedures. The study was conducted in the secondary schools in Solano District consisting of third year high school students of the following schools Uddiawan National High School, Solano High School and Bascaran National High School. There were 108 students who served as respondents of the study. The study was conducted from December 2007 to January 2008. The result of the study indicated that third year high school students in the study sites whose father is a non-farmer have higher level of open mindedness than those whose fathers are farmers, those whose father is a farmer have higher level of open mindedness than those whose fathers are non-farmers, and those whose fathers are college graduates have higher level of intellectual honesty than respondents whose fathers have lower educational attainment. Likewise, male third year high school students who are Ilocanos and whose father is a non-farmer have significantly higher level of academic performance in the Science than other respondents of the study, and those who are Ilocanos have significantly higher level of academic performance in Mathematics as compared to those who belong to other ethnic groups. Moreover, third year high school students in Solano District who possess higher level intellective factors such as critical mindedness and suspended judgment are also those who have higher level of academic performance in Science than other students in the study place, and those who possess higher level intellective factor in terms of critical mindedness also have higher level of academic performance in Mathematics than other third year students who served as respondents of the study. Based on the above results of the study, the following recommendations are forwarded: In the development of teaching strategies geared towards the improvement of the intellective factor open mindedness of third year high school students in the study sites, more focus or attention should be provided to those whose fathers are farmers than those whose parents are non-farmers, strategies should be developed to improve the attributes of the third year high school students in the study sites in terms of suspended judgments, those whose father are non-farmers, enhancement strategies should be developed to improve the attributes of the third year high school students in the study sites in terms of intellectual honesty especially those whose fathers have lower educational attainment On their academic performance, it is essential that in developing enhancement programs or remedial classes for the improvement of the academic performance in the Science of third year high school students in Solano, it is essential that the ethnicity and occupation of the father of the students should be considered, on their academic performance in Mathematics, remedial classes and other strategies for the improvement of the academic performance should consider the peculiarities of the students who are non-Ilocanos or those who belong to other ethnic groups. To further improve the academic performance of the third year high school students in Solano District in Science, strategies should be first developed to improve their level of intellective factors such as critical mindedness and suspended judgment. Specifically, the study focused on the food practices as reflected in the way they cook, preserve and store food; the food habits as to food consumption and food beliefs during pregnancy, lactation, birthdays and/or special occasions, lenten, planting and harvest season. One hundred fifty five Tuwali from five communities participated in the study. Results showed that the common methods of cooking practiced by the Tuwali are boiling and broiling and using bamboo tubes in cooking. Salting and drying are the most preferred method of food preservation. Of the several food items in the food frequency checklist only rice and sugar were consumed daily by majority of the household; the food combination eaten for breakfast, lunch and supper always include meat and poultry dishes. The reported diets of the households were rated fair in terms of variety. In terms of food beliefs, the Tuwali are found to eat and avoid certain food during pregnancy, lactation and on special occasions such as birthdays, lenten, planting and harvest season. Educational attainment differed significantly with the variety of food eaten and the food belief during pregnancy. Food beliefs were very much a part of the culture of the Tuwali. Some beliefs were shared in common by both the young and old and rural and semi-urban Tuwali. | Thesis (Master of Science-Home Technology Education) 28 cm..

Place hold on Food practices, habits and beliefs of the tuwali in ifugao/

Assessment of a competency-based instruction in pattern making for garment technology students./
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Ferrer, Jennifer Tadeo.
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2008 .
xi, 122 leaves : , This study was conducted to find out the effectiveness of a portfolio assessment in a competency-based instruction in pattern making of Garment Technology students; determine the competency level and differences of the pretest and posttest and mean gain scores between the experimental group and control group; evaluate the portfolio as to objective, content, manner of presentation and relevance. The study likewise explored the possible relationship between the socio-demographic profile and consumer buying practices and with level of consumer buying awareness. Generally, the results of the study reveal the following: The respondents were homemakers with a mean age of 40 years old, with average income of P10,000.00 per month, generally secondary to college graduates, belonging to various religious sect but predominated by Roman Catholics and mostly of the Ilocano origin. The respondents are highly aware on consumer buying concerns as to general market condition, brands, adulteration, weights, deceptive container, inferior quality and illegal practices in the market. Unfair prices and misbranding showed significant relationship with occupation, while ethnicity significantly correlated with unfair prices, general market condition and adulterated food sold in the market. Shortweight and deceptive containers had significant relationships to the type of food and frequency of buying. Brands significantly correlated to the type of clothing store and household furnishing acquired or bought. The cost/price of food is the foremost factor that the homemakers consider when buying food in the market. The public market is patronized by the homemakers for their daily purchases. The respondents are guided in their purchase of canned and packed foods by always reading nutrition label and comparing of prices. They also buy clothing and other wear for its texture, cost, durability and quality. Location, price and sense of security were the factors always considered by the respondents when buying a house. | Thesis (Master of Science-Home Technology) 28 cm..

Place hold on Consumer-buying practices of homemakers in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya: implication to home economics and livelihood education/

Effect of the language component-bridging program (flc-bp) on the science achievement of grade IV pupils/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Carag, Mia Antonette S..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2008 .
xiv, 108 leaves : , This study sought to find out if the use of the First Language Component-Bridging Program FLC-BP would improve the Science achievement of Grade IV pupils of Bagabag Central School. The research employed the pretest-posttest group design. The subjects of the study were 60 Grade IV pupils from two intact classes at Bagabag Central School. Bagabag District enrolled in School Year 2007-2008. The researcher handled the two classes assigned as control and experimental groups through the toss coin scheme. The control group was taught through the English-only as the medium of instruction and the experimental group was given the Science intervention using the FLC-BP method. The teacher made criterion test was used to gather data on the Science achievement of the Fourth Grade pupils. The criterion test was given on the first day of the experiment as pre-test, and on the last day as posttest. This test was validated by experts was used to gather information about the pupils personal data, parents, number of siblings, birth order, educational attainment of parents and language spoken. The data were statistically analyzed using mean, SD, and t-test for correlated and uncorrelated samples. The null hypotheses were tested using the 0.05 level of significance. The following are the significant findings and conclusions of the study: On Demographic Profile: Majority of the pupils belonged to 9-10 years old. Most of the parents of the subjects in control and experimental groups are elementary graduates. Most of the male parents are drivers and carpenters while female parents are housewives. Majority of the respondents are central dwellers and the great percentage of pupils in experimental pupils speak Tagalog while control pupils speak Iloko. On Performance Level: Results of the pretest in control group is (15.65%) with below average performance the same with experimental group with (18.68%). This indication that FLCBP was not still adopted in pretest. In the posttest, results revealed that experimental group is higher than control group. The scores of (28.22%) of experimental group belonged to average performance over the control group (18.69%) which was below average. The comparison of the two groups in test scores revealed -value of 9.12 higher than critical value 2.000 which was found to be significant. The FLC-BP had significant intervention suggests that pupils performed better than control group which was shown in their performance. Furthermore, interactions of pupils to teacher were remarkable. Pupils cooperated well and learned fast using FLC-BP activities. The experimental groups performed better than control group. This implies that FLC-BP has significant intervention that improved the performance level. Based on the findings and conclusions, following recommendations are recommended: Since the FLC-BP methodology is effective on Science. It is recommended on this research be conducted in other learning areas and the study should be extended in wider scales preferably on other divisions to validate the findings of theresearch and use other variables such as intellective and non-intellective and socio-economic status. The FLC-BP was effective even if it is only use for a one grading period. It is much better to use it for a longer time. There will be a greater impact on the learning of the pupils. | Thesis (Master of Education - Language, Reading and Numeracy) 28 cm..

Place hold on Effect of the language component-bridging program (flc-bp) on the science achievement of grade IV pupils/

The effect of web - enhanced learning activities (wela)on the achievement in english of first year high school students/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Bustos, Katherine Faith A. Moreover, the following positive behaviors were observed among the students under the WELA: (a) increased interaction among the students, between the students and learning materials, and between the students and the teacher; (b) decrease of absenteeism cases, (c) independent learning, (d) enhanced and structured learning styles, and (e) more defined focus in learning. The WELA clearly appears to be very effective approach in enhancing English achievement levels of first year students. Since the preparation of web-enhanced activities is not that difficult, administrators should encourage their teachers to be involved in updating their teaching and learning methods and strategies. Teachers should be more open to new techniques and styles so that they would not be left out. They should also join trainings, seminars, and workshops on this regard. More trainings, seminars, and workshops on web-enhanced learning and ICT integration should be widespread. Moreover, these should be conducted locally with minimal registration fees, or better yet, free of charge, so that would-be trainees will no longer worry about their expenses Communications and memoranda regarding this matter should be properly disseminated. Schools should tap government and non-government people to donate communications equipment such as computers, 1.CD projectors, Internet servers, and Internet connection. Educators should take advantage of the eagerness of students to learn. Most public elementary schools are not yet computer-equipped. When students from these schoolsenter high school, they are likely to be interested in anything new them, including the use of computers and the Internet in studying the English language The main evaluation instrument used in this study was a periodical test, which is just one factor in determining academic performance of students in English. Researchers should therefore conduct other studies to determine the possible effects of WELA on the other factors such as recitation, group work, reports, projects, etc. In this way, educators would identify strengths and diagnose needs, and would be able to properly address them. Further researches using WELA could still be conducted in other subject areas like Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, etc., and in other year levels. | Thesis (Master of Education - Language, Reading and Numeracy) 28 cm..

Place hold on The effect of web - enhanced learning activities (wela)on the achievement in english of first year high school students/

Effect of the first language component-bridging program (flc-bp) of grade V pupils on mathematics achievement/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Famorca, Raquel Galicinao.
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2008 .
xiii, 99 leaves : , This research determined if the use of the First Language Component-Bridging Program (FLC-BP) would improve the Mathematics Achievement of Grade V pupils of Paniki Elementary School, Bagabag District during the school year 2007-2008 Specifically, it sought answers to the following questions: 1) What is the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of age, gender, parent's occupation, sect and family income, 2) What is the mean and performance level of the control and experimental groups in the pretest, 3) What are the mean and performance level of the control group in the pretest and posttest, 4) What are the mean and performance level of the experimental group in the pretest and posttest, 5) What are the mean and performance level of the control and experimental groups in the posttest, 6) Is there a significant difference in the pretest in control and the experimental groups, 7)Is there a significant difference between the pretest and posttest of the control group, Is there a significant difference between the pretest and posttest of the experimental group, 9) Is there a significant difference in the posttest in control and experimental groups, 10) Is there a significant difference between the means in gain scores of the control and experimental groups? However, the province showed an increasing trend of accomplishment as it earned 30, 36, 35, 34 and 41 points in 2001, 2002 2003 2004 and 2005, respectively The practices of responsible pet ownership among dog owners in the province of Nueva Vizcaya were also evaluated Local program implementers from the fifteen municipalities of Nueva Vizcaya were also interviewed to assess then perceptions on issues and factors relevant to the implementation of rabies prevention and control program in the local setting. The study on pet ownership revealed that Nueva Vizcayanos are not responsible enough for the care and management of their pet dogs Only 42, leashed or caged their pet dogs and only 35% bring their pet animals for annual vaccination against rabies. The survey study on the implementers of rabies control and prevention program in the province showed that coordination among implementers is not yet so established. The weakness of the program identified include problems on surveillance, adequacy of trained manpower to push the program and an animal bite treatment center, implementation of ordinances, supply of vaccines, absence of laboratory support and dog pounds.
