The study was conducted in the four secondary schools in the District of Kasibu namely: Kasibu National Agricultural School, Malabing Valley National High School, Kongkong Valley National High School and Kakidugen High School. A total of 105 dropout students from school year 2003-2005 served as the respondents in this study. The study used convenient sampling in gathering the pertinent data needed in the study. The study was conducted from January to February 2006. The results of this study reveal that most of the respondents dropped out when they were 15 years old and most are males. Most of them dropped out in the month of September when the peak season of harvesting is strongest since most of their parents are into farming Among the problems on the different categorical classifications, most of the respondents considered lack of interest in doing school works as the main psychological factor why they dropped out. Also in the physiological factor, they considered joining a barkada asthe most pressing problem and hardship in coping with the deadline of many projects required as the most identified problem why they dropped out With regards also to the medium of instruction, most respondents revealed that they do not understand what they are reading therefore leads to not reciting since they do not have something to tell. It is because they lack comprehension on what they are reading. Likewise, they also identified that they cannot speak in English though they want to recite as a main factor why they dropped out. With the above results of the study, it is recommended that teachers can make activities more interesting for the students and give them activities and projects they can do with interest As established, many of the dropouts considered joining in a barkada as a major cause so parents may guide their children to participate in worthwhile youth activities and ties up with the school to lead their children to such helpful activities, and guide them in their choices particularly in their studies. And also, administrators may look into the viability of the First Language Component-Bridging Program (FLC-BP) as a methodology for teaching comprehension skills and recommend it for implementation since one major reason of most respondents' dropping out is lack of comprehension in reading. Why, because the lessons are presented in English except for some subjects like Filipino that uses the Filipino Language. The FLC-BP methodology as it was previously studied enhanced the reading performance of the learners therefore it is highly recommended. | Thesis (Master of Education - Educational Administration) 28 cm..

Place hold on Factors associated with high school dropout - returness: a basis for evolving intervention program/

Achievement level of makabayan III pupils in the district of Villaverde, Nueva Vizcaya/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Luwit, Cynthia T..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2006 .
xiv, 181 leaves : , This study aimed to determine the achievement level in Makabayan III of the Elementary Schools in the district of Villaverde, Nueva Vizcaya. The district is composed of one primary, one central and nine ordinary elementary schools. The study used the descriptive-comparative survey research design and collected data through a researcher-constructed test, which was content validated by five experts in the subject, and pilot tested twice for item analysis and validity. Its overall reliability is 0.84 and external validity coefficient is 0.53. The plan was implemented to all the 371 Makabayan III pupils from the eleven schools to find answers to these specific questions: (1) What is the profile of the Grade III Makabayan pupils in terms of their gender, ethnicity, religion and class of school in the District of Villaverde? (2) What is the achievement level of Makabayan III pupils in the District of Villaverde? In general and by topic areas and (3) What are the areas of Makabayan III in which the respondents achieved highest/lowest? and (4) Are there significant relationships between the respondents' scores in Makabayan III and their profile variables?Using the mean, frequencies, percentages, t-test and One-Way ANOVA in the analysis led to the following conclusions: 1. The Makabayan III Pupils of Villaverde district has slightly more males than the females. In terms of ethnicity, the Ilokanos is the dominant group while Ifugaos and Tagalogs are the minorities. Slightly less than two-thirds are Catholics, more than one sixth are Iglesia ni Cristo and the remaining are of other religions. When grouped according to the class of school, a little less than three-fourths came from ordinary elementary schools; slightly more than one-fourth came from central school and the remaining from primary school. 2. Achievement Level of the Makabayan III pupils 2.1. In General, more than three-fourths of the respondents are level 1 "failure". 2.2. By Major Topic 2.2.1. Unit 1 Pambansang Pagkakakilanlan; Approximately three-fourths of the pupils are level 1 "failure". 2.2.2. Unit II-Pambansang Pagkakaisa, Slightly more than two-thirds are level 1 "failure". 2.2.3. Unit III; Pambansang Katapatan.- Sligthly less than one-half are level 1 "failure".3. Topics in Makabayan where respondents are strongest and weakest 3.1. Unit I-Pambansang Pagkakakilanlan -The Makabayan III pupils are strongest in lesson-6" Nasasabi ang mga paraan kung paano mapag-ingatan ang mga pinagkukunang kabuhayan", and weakest in lesson 4" Nasasabi ang katangian ng anyong lupa "and lesson 7. The respondents failed lessons 2, 4 and 7 and passed lessons 1, 3, 5 and 6. 3.2. Unit 11-Pambansang Pagkakaisa - They did not pass all the lessons but their best is lesson 1 "Natatalakay ang mga bagay na nakakatulong o nakahahadlang sa pagkamit ng mithiin." and their weakest is lesson 3-"Nagagamit ang sariling kakayahan upang mapaunlad ang pamumuhay tulad ng pagtitiwala sa kakayahan." The pupils failed in all the four lessons evaluated. 3.3. Unit III- Pambansang Katapatan The Makabayan III pupils of Villaverde are better in Lesson 1 "Nakikilala ang tungkulin ng mamamayan para sa payapang pamumuhay" than lesson 2 "natutukoy ang tungkulin ng mamamayan sa pangangalaga ng kapaligiran" The pupils passed lesson 1 but failed in lesson 2. 4. Relationships between Achievement in Makabayan III and Profile Variables 4.1. The achievement level of the females and males are the same. 4.2. The Tagalogs achieved higher than either the Ilokanos or the Ifugaos. However, the Ilokanos achieved higher than the Ifugaos. 4.3. The Pentecostes achieved higher than those of the other religious groupings except that of the Jehovah's Witnesses. The Jehovah's witnesses achievement isin turn higher than the achievements of the other remaining groups except that of the Methodists' group. The achievement of the Makabayan III pupils of Villaverde when grouped according to religion is the same if the Pentecostes and Jehovah's Witnesses groups are excluded. Therefore, the achievement of the pupils in Makabayan III of Villaverde district is influenced by their religion. 4.4. The achievement level of the Makabayan III pupils is not influenced by the class of school (pilot, ordinary, primary) they belong. | Thesis (Master of Education - Educational Administration) 28 cm..

Place hold on Achievement level of makabayan III pupils in the district of Villaverde, Nueva Vizcaya/

Level of awareness of public secondary school grievance committees in Quirino province/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Marges, Maria Donadie D..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2006 .
xii, 87 leaves : , This study focuses on the School Grievance Committees in Public Secondary Schools of Quirino, school year 2003-2004, as evaluated by teaching and non - teaching personnel. This study was conducted among the ninety (90) teaching and ten. (10) non teaching personnel from the eight randomly selected complete public secondary schools in the Division of Quirino. The researcher constructed the data gathering instrument, which, in turn, was content validated by experts and then a tryout questionnaire was administered before being answered by the actual respondents. From the study, it was found out that out of the 100 respondents, 46% were within the age bracket of 30-39, 41% were 40 and above and 13% were below 29 years old. There were 73% female and 27% male respondents, 85% were married, 10% were singleand 5% were widowed. Of the respondents, 80% were holding teaching positions, 10% comprised the administrative staff, 6% were substitute or local school board teachers and 4% were Master Teachers. As to income, 61% of the respondents had a monthly salary of over P10,001 and the remaining 39% less than 10,000 monthly salary. As to educational attainment, 56% of the respondents had master's or doctoral units, 24% with Bachelor's degree and 20% were master's or doctoral degree holders. As regards religious affiliation, 62% of the respondents were Roman Catholic, 15% were Protestants, 6% wara Iglesia ni Cristo and the rest or 17% belong to other religion or denuminations (Independent, Assembly of God, Bom Again etc.). The Total Quality Management (TQM) Level covered ten areas such as; access, customer value, leadership, physical environment and resources, effective learning, students development, staff development, external relations, organizational development and standards. The TQM level focused on secondary school administrators in the Division of Ifugao. The administrators rated themselves and the teacher-respondents rated their school administrators. The numerical and descriptive rating was: 5-excellent, followed by 4-very satisfactory, 3-satisfactory, then 2-fair, and 1-poor was the lowest. The study covered all secondary schools in all municipalities of Ifugao except the three who were covered during the validation of the research instrument. There were 25 school heads of either principal, head teachers and teachers in-charge and 97 teachers with the total of 122 respondents. The statistical tools used the descriptive statistics in the form of frequency distribution and percentage on the profile of the respondents, mean and standarddeviation were used to describe the TQM level, t-test an analysis of variance was used to determine the significance between and among variables. The findings revealed that the profile of the respondents does not affect TQM in general, except seminars and trainings that directly affect TQM. It revealed that the higher the level of training, the higher the TQM level. Based on the findings, the researcher recommends that the school administrators of the Division of Ifugao should find more venue to improve their TQM by attending trainings relevant to administration not only trainings held locally but nationally and even internationally if possible. For the Schools Division Superintendent and Staff should used the findings as a baseline data and information in planning particularly in designing training relevant to administration, implementing, monitoring and evaluation of programs to improve the managerial skill of school administrators. And for the plan to be realistic, allocation of funds for training should be included. For the future researchers, topics related to this should further conduct deeper investigation particularly in determining other factors that affect quality management. | Thesis (Master of Education - Educational Administration) 28 cm..

Place hold on Total quality management (tqm) level of secondary school administrators in the division of Ifugao/

Non - intellective factors and attitude as correlates of grade vi pupils mathematics achievement/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Gacayan, Leonora A..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2006 .
xiii, 99 leaves : , The study attempted to determine the correlates of the level of midyear achievement rate in mathematics of the Grade VI pupils of the DepEd District of Solano II Nueva Vizcaya during the school year 2005-2006. To achieve the above aims, the study used the descriptive- correlation research method using a semi-structured questionnaire as a data-gathering instrument. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The 0.05 probability level (level of significance) was the critical point of reference. The study was conducted in the Solano II District of the Department of Education (DepEd) of the province of Nueva Vizcaya. The 214 randomly selected respondents were Grade VI pupils from the public elementary schools in Solano II District. The study was conducted during the school year 2005-2006. Result of the study revealed that the respondents have a positive attitude towards the study of mathematics. However, level of achievement in mathematics of the respondents as indicated by the mean value of 80.04 and was qualitatively described average. Two profile variables were identified as correlates of the level of midyear achievement in mathematics of the Grade VI pupils in the DepEd District of Solano II. Nueva Vizcaya. These are the study habits and fields of interest of the respondents. The mathematical attitude correlates include: my mathematics class will be interestingand lots of fun when introduced with varied activities like games, puzzles, etc., which displayed positive relationship, I let somebody solve my mathematics problem, mathematics should not be included in the subject areas I learn because it is difficult: and I am willing to exchange my mathematics subject for an easier subjects in school, which displayed negative correlation coefficients. Based on the findings of the study, the following were recommended to improve the midyear achievement of mathematics in the study site. 1. To effectively improve the level of midyear achievement in mathematics of the Grade VI pupils in the District of Solano II of the DepEd Division of Nueva Vizcaya, the proper study habits and genuine interest in mathematics should be developed and cultivated by their mathematics teachers with the cooperation and help of the children's parents. 2. One way to improve the level of midyear achievement in mathematics of the Grade VI pupils in the study site is to for the teacher to develop in them a positive attitude while mitigating their pessimistic outlook in studying in mathematics by incorporating varied activities like games, puzzles to make it a lot more interesting subject. 3. To further improve the level of midyear achievement of the Grade Vi pupils in the study site is to limit the too much time spent by the respondents in watching TV, indulging in playing poker card games, and frequent absenteeism from their classes. 4. Every public elementary school in the study site should endeavor to hold a meeting with the PTCA to explain the bad effect to their children of too muchtime watching TV, indulging in poker card game, and frequent absenteeism of their children as well as to solicit their help in developing proper study habits and positive attitude on studying mathematics as one of the means of improving the level of midyear performance of the respondents in mathematics. 5. School administrators should design in-service trainings to be conducted in order that teachers could develop and improve their teaching styles in sustaining the interest of pupils to improve their achievement. 6. A replication of the study should also be conducted which include more comprehensive set of variables and wider scope of samples to acquire more reliable basis for decision-making, or using pupils in other levels of elementary mathematics. | Thesis (Master of Education - Language, Reading and Numeracy) 28 cm..

Place hold on Non - intellective factors and attitude as correlates of grade vi pupils mathematics achievement/

Relevance of the bachelor of scinece in agricultural education program to the basic education curricuum/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Duyapat, Grace L..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2006 .
xv, 72 leaves : , The study aimed at assessing the relevance of the Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education (BSAEd) Program to the Basic Education Curriculum (BEC) of the Department of Education. Specifically, the study looked into the profile, employability and productivity of graduates, and institutional profile of the Agricultural Education program. The study used the normative, evaluative and correlational under the descriptive method to gather the needed data from 67 respondents who were selected through total enumeration. A structured survey questionnaire supplemented by personal interviews and secondary data were employed to collect the needed information which were treated statistically by means of frequency counts, percentages, means, ranks, Pearson r, and Point Biserial Correlation Coefficient. The null hypotheses were tested using 0.05 level of significance serving as reference whether to reject or to accept the hypothesis. The findings revealed that the average age of the respondents is 26.29 years old, 75.32 percent were females with an average grade point of 2.62, and 63.6 percent of them specialized in crop science while 76.7 percent of the respondents took the Licensure Examination for Teacher but only 23.2 percent passed the examination. Of the total respondents only 42.8 percent landed jobs, of this number, 24 percent were hired as teachers, while a greater number of the employed graduates (45%) received an income ranging from P5, 000.00 to 19,999.00. On faculty profile, 44 percent of the faculty members were in their 60-65 years old, 56 percent of them were female, 66 percent were doctoral degree holders, 55 percent holds an associate professor rank, 44 percent had an academic experience ranging from 21-30 years and 100 percent had a performance rating of very satisfactory. The average enrollment of the program per school year was 149, and the average LET performance per year is only 23 percent. The program is awarded Level II accreditation status by the AACCUP. Following are problems encountered by BSAEd graduates rank in order: "Not a LET passer", "The course or degree is irrelevant" and "There are no local job opportunities". Gender and GPA were found to be significantly related to employability. On the other hand, age, specialization and LET rating are not significantly related to the respondents' employability In the light of the foregoing findings, the following conclusions were drawn The Respondents' Profile of the department has an average age of 26.29, mostly females, with a grade point average of 2.62, they specialized in Crop Science, and greater percentage took the Licensure Examination for Teachers but very few passed it. A greater percentage of the graduates were unemployed and most of the employed graduates landed on non-teaching jobs. While those employed receive an income below the standard hiring rate both in public and private schools. Most of the faculty are old and retirables, majority are females, two-thirds are doctoral degree holders with an academic rank of associate professor, had been teaching from 2-3 decades and all had a very satisfactory ratings. Faculty-student ratio on enrollment is very far below the standard class size. The Agricultural Education program is awarded Level II by the AACCUP LET performance of the department in below the national passing rate. The curriculum has very limited options for field of specialization. Most of the graduates' problem is on "Not a LET passer" in getting a job. The male graduates had better opportunity of being employed than the female. The graduates with lower GPA tend to have better chances of being employed in non-teaching jobs as they are not as selective as those with higher GPA. The chance of being employed is not affected by the respondents' age, specialization and LET rating From the results of this study, the researcher recommends the following: The College of Teacher Education must enforce stricter policy on student admission in selecting the best students to become future teachers. The College of Teacher Education must strictly enforce the administration of comprehensive examination to all third year education students as part of the selective retention policy issued by the Commission on Higher Education. There should be a thorough review of the BSAEd curriculum to be able to satisfy the provision of the Basic Education Curriculum of the Department of Education so that graduates of this program will be more competitive for employment especially in the areas of specialization. The enrollment of the program must justify its existence. Since eligibility is one of the qualification standards in the selection of applicants for employment, BSAEd graduates should take the LET examination and be well prepared for the examination, and Replication study is encouraged to validate the current findings which will include other variables like attending LET review or not, honors received both high school and college, economic and educational status of parent, involvement in both extra and intra-curricular activities, and to be conducted in a wider scope. | Thesis (Master of Science - Agricultural Education) 28 cm..

Place hold on Relevance of the bachelor of scinece in agricultural education program to the basic education curricuum/

Panitikang Filipino : kasaysayan at pag-unlad pangkolehiyo /
<dc:identifier>ISBN:971-084-374-5 (pbk.)</dc:identifier>

By Santiago, Erlinda M..
Mandaluyong City: National Bookstore, 1989 .
xix, 306 p. : 23 cm..
971-084-374-5 (pbk.)

Place hold on Panitikang Filipino :

Career Guidance: in Ladderized Education for Filipino Empowerment
<dc:identifier>ISBN:(pbk.)</dc:identifier>

By Syjuco, Augusto Boboy.
Manila: TESDA 2006 .
210 p.
