Jr, Marcelino T..
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State Institute of Technology, 1977 .
xiii, 130 leaves : , This study was conducted to assess the socio-economic, health and nutritional effects of the LAKASS Program implementation in the nutritionally depressed municipality (NDM) of Alfonso Castañeda, Nueva Vizcaya. A sample of 56 respondent households represented the 83 household beneficiaries in the benchmark survey. Information on the socio-economic, health and nutritional conditions of the beneficiaries were availed of for the comparative assessment of the changes brought about by the implementation of the LAKASS Program activities in that municipality. The information were analyzed through the use of descriptive statistics, t-test and chi-square (x) test for the socio-economic, health and nutritional changes in the houseliold beneficiaries conditions, and Multiple Regression and Correlation analysis and Pearson's Product Moment of Correlation for the relationship between the program implementation and the realized changes The indicators used for the socio-economic condition of the respondents were income, type and ownership of dwelling units, bousehold appliances and livestock ownership. Health and nutritional status indicators studied were, major source of drinking water, type of toilet facilities, garbage disposal practices, morbidity and weiglit for agemeasurement of preschool children, food diversity score, and body mass index (BMI) of adults Results showed that the LAKASS Program beneficiaries were of medium size family composed of live members, with female members slightly higher in number than male members. They subsist through farming irrigated lowland farms as tenant/worker or owner operator. Their education was generally low elementary undergraduates to elementary graduates. The implementation of the LAKASS Program activities strongly and positively correlated with the increased income of the beneficiaries, from P14,399 to P24,337 per annum. Of the program activities, vending/livelihood activities exerted the strongest influence. Though a strong and positive correlation was exerted by the implementation of the program, it did not result in charge in the ownership and type of dwelling units of the respondents. A significant increase in the ownership of inexpensive household appliances was noted which showed that the program implementation had a strong and positive correlation with the increase in inexpensive household appliances There were no significant changes in the livestock ownership of the respondents were observed, as a result by the implementation of the LAKASS Program. The significant and highly significant increase in the use of sanitary toilets such as water-sealed and antipolo/closed pit toilets were correlated strongly and positively to the implementation of the LAKASS Program However, the traditional garbage disposal practices of the respondents did not change. The relationship of the program implementation and this variatile is very weak. The result of the study on the morbidity rate of preschool children affecting child 1 and 2 did not significantly change. Except for fever which significantly decreased, diseases which affected child 3 did not change The LAKASS Program implementation and themorbidity rates of preschoolers reflected a weak correlation. This suggests that the LAKASS Program hardly affected the health habits of the respondents This points out that the LAKASS Program implementation failed to curb the high mortality rates of preschool children due to sickness The average weight for age measurements of most of the preschool children did not change except for those who were less than a year old and five years of age which significantly increased. Of the LAKASS Program activities, only deworming exerted a significant, yet weak correlation, on the weight of preschoolers. The body mass index (BMI) measurements of adults showed a significant decrease in underweight and a significant increase on those who were overweight mothers. The changes strongly and positively correlated with the implementation of the LAKASS Program activities | Thesis (Master of Education - Educational Administration) 28 cm..

Place hold on Causal-comparative assessment of the socio-economic health and nutritional dimensions of "lalakas ang katawang sapat sa sustansiya" (lakass) program/

The reading proficiency performance of grade IV pupils in three selected elementary schools of decs, Bagabag district/
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Almonte, Raquel Ablang.
Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State Institute of Technology, 1977 .
xvi, 121 leaves : , The main thrust of this study was focused in the assessment of the factors affecting the reading proficiency levels of selected Grade IV pupils in DECS, Bagabag District and their implications to classroom instruction. The descriptive method of research was used in the study. Three sets of questionnaires were developed by the researcher to gather data from pupils, pupils' parents and teachers. A reading proficiency test was likewise constructed to assess the level of reading proficiency reached by the readers. pupil-respondents as The population for the study consisted of selected Grade IV pupils, parents and teachers from the representative central, non-central and primary schools of Bagabag District. The basic findings are as follows:A. Profile of Respondents 1. Pupil Respondents 1.1 Gender. There were more male respondents of 45 or 54.88% than their female consisting counterparts consisting of 37 or 45.12%. 1.2 Age. Forty-four (54%) of the respondents were below 11 years old while thirty-eight or 46% were above 11 years old. The oldest pupil-respondents with an average of 11.18 came from the primary school followed by the non-central school with 10.63 and the central school with 10.37, the youngest. 1.3 Type of school. The 82 pupil-respondents came from three schools of Bagabag. Twenty-two came from Kinakao, a primary school, thirty from Murong Elementary School, a non-central school, and thirty from Bagabag Central School, the central school of the school district of Bagabag. 1.4 Pupil Respondents' general average in English, Mathematics, Science and HEKASI. The noncentral pupil-respondents outperformed those from the central school and primary school in English, Science and HEKASI with a mean of 84.7, 87.23 and 84.33, respectively. The central school, on the other hand, outperformed both the non-central and primary school in Mathematics with a mean of 82.83. Sciencewith a general mean of 84.48 was the best learned subject among the respondents followed by English with 83.28, HEKASI with 83.04 and Mathematics with 82.82 was the least learned subject. 1.5 Reading levels. The pupil-respondents registered a reading level mean of 4.06 (SD = 0.87) which indicated that on the average the pupils read by phrases. The reading level mean of the non-central school of 4.2 (SD = 0.66) was the highest, followed by the central school of 4.13 (SD = 1.04) , while the primary school with 3.77 (SD = 0.81) was the lowest. 1.6 Reading proficiency performance test scores. The non-central school got the highest mean of 41.3 (SD = 6.3) , the primary school, a mean of 28.23 (SD = 5.93) , and the central school, a mean of 27.47 (SD = 7.56) , the lowest. For all schools, the mean was 32.97 (SD = 9.26) . 2. Parent Respondents 2.1 Age. Forty-five (55%) of the parent-respondents had ages 40 and up, while 37 (45%) had ages below 40. The primary school had the oldest parent-respondents, followed by the central school with 42. 67, and the non-central school with 39.5, the youngest. The mean age of all parent-respondents was 41.88.2.2 Educational attainment. The respondents from the central school with parent-a mean educational attainment of 2.8 equivalent to third year high school or higher made them the group with the highest average educational attainment. This group was followed by the parent-respondents from the non-central school with a mean educational attainment of 2.47 or educational level ranging from elementary graduate to second year high school, and the parent-respondents from the primary school with educational attainment of 1.63 or educational level ranging from primary to grade five. The mean educational attainment of parent-respondents was 2.37 which showed that on the average their educational attainment was from elementary graduate to first or second year high school. 2.3 Occupation. Forty-two (51%) of the parent respondents were farmers and 40 (49%) of the parent respondents were non-farmers. 2.4 Average monthly family income. Forty-three parents (52%) belonged to income level 1, 30 (37%) Income level 2, 9 (11%) income level 3. The parent-respondents from the central school with 1.9 average income level had the highest average Income ranging from P 6,000 to P 10,999. The parent-respondents from the primary school had the lowest mean income level with 1.32 which ranged from P 5,999 below. 3. Teacher-Respondents 3.1 Performance rating. Teacher-respondents from the central school were rated below 10 in their performance ratings while their counterparts from the non-central and primary equivalent to outstanding. schools were rated 10 3.2 Teaching experience. Teacher-respondents from the non-central and primary schools with teaching experiences ranging from 2 to 8 years were found younger than their counterparts from the central school who had been teaching from 9 to 31 years. Older grade four teachers were employed in the central school | Thesis (Master of Education - Language, Reading and Numeracy) 28 cm..

Place hold on The reading proficiency performance of grade IV pupils in three selected elementary schools of decs, Bagabag district/

Ency. of Science & Technology Study Guide to the McGraw-Hill Ency.
<dc:identifier>ISBN:(pbk.)</dc:identifier>

McGraw-Hill Book Co. 1977 .
49 p.
