A study was conducted to test the toxic effects of Neem seed powder and tobacco dried leaves extract through the chorio-allantoic membrane vascular assay (CAMVA). The study used four treatments with five replications each. This was conducted at the Domingsil's Residence, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.
Results of the study on vascular effect score description observed in the chorio-allantoic membranes (CAM) of chick embryos showed that T4 (Tobacco Leaf Extract) had the highest mean which is 4.20 followed by T3 Neem Seed Powder), T2 Sodium Lauryl Sulfate) and T1 (Control) with means of 3.80, 3.00 and 0.00 respectively.
Statistical analysis showed that T4 (Tobacco Leaf Extract) and T3 (Neem Seed Powder) were comparable having the highest toxic effects on the chorio-allantoic membranes of the chick embryos. On the other hand, T3 (Neem Seed Powder) was comparable with Gamma2 (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate) and T4 (Tobacco Leaf Extract). Significant differences were observed among the treatment means of T1 Control), T2 Sodium Lauryl Sulfate) and T4 (Tobacco Leaf Extract).
The treatment means of T₁ (control), T₂ (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate), T3 (Neem seed powder) and T4 (Tobacco leaf extract) were 0.60, 0.40, 1.00 and 0.60 respectively in relation to the number of chick embryos that were alive albeit the administration of the test samples sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), neem seed powder and tobacco leaf extract. However, statistical analysis showed that the number of chick embryos that were alive showed no significant differences among the treatment means.
