The study was undertaken to fabricate and evaluate the performance of automated water pump for irrigation of rice paddy field. The automated water pump is powered by an electric motor and is regulated by a programmed Arduino and smart switch with attached Antenna. A flow meter has been installed to keep track of the time of operation. On the remote end-part of the rice field being irrigated was installed with waterproof ultrasonic sensor housed by the field water tube that detects the water level of the paddy field and was linked to the programmed and calibrated Arduino through a wire. The data from the readings of the sensor and analyzed by the Arduino will be transferred to the transmitter through a relay which then sends it to the Arduino of the Automated water pump triggering the on and off of the pump. The final testing confirmed that the automated water pump has an efficiency rate of 84%. The automated water pump has an average discharge rate of 20 m³/hr. The performance of the automated water pump can be attributed to its motor being operated at only 1,740 rpm, not reaching the required power rate speed of the pump, which is 3,600 rpm. The cost of the fabricated automated water pump is Php30,852. Thesis (Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering - AB Land and Water Conservation Engineering)
