Manangan The study was conducted to determine the efficacy of formalin as euthanizing agent for cats and identify the most effective dosage capable of euthanizing the cats. In addition, this was conducted to compare the efficacy of formalin as euthanizing agent with a commercially available euthanizing agent. The study was laid out following the Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with the following treatments Treatment 1 (0.5 ml of formalin per kilogram body weight of cat), Treatment II (1.5 ml of formalin per kilogram body weight of cat). Treatment III (3.0 ml of formalin per kilogram body weight of cat) and Treatment IV as the control treatment (05ml of sodium pentobarbital per kilogram body weight of cat) Each treatment was replicated three times. The result of the study revealed that formalin at 1.5-3.0 ml per kilogram body weight could be used as euthanizing agent for cats which have been anesthetized with ketamine It was also showed that Treatment II and III had comparable results with the control, however, Treatment I proved to be a poor choice as euthanizing agent For economic advantage, formalin could be recommended as an alternative for commercial one in euthanizing cats.
