<br/><br/> The study determined the biometric and morphological characteristics of the internal organs of nondescript local native chickens of backyard farms in selected municipalities of Nueva Vizcaya province using 15 male and 15 female chickens (N=30). The study described the organ shape, color and as well the texture of the internal organs The tubular shape was noted in esophagus, crop, proventriculus and intestines. The irregular shape was mamly seen in the gizzard and lungs. The kidney and pancreas were commonly elongated shaped. The heart is triangularly shaped. The testes were bean-shaped, and infundibulum is funnel shaped. These qualitative characteristics are generally normal with other poultry breeds. Meanwhile, various color patterns were observed in the serosa and mucosa of different organs, ranging from shades of pink, cream, and brownish hues to white, yellow, orange, and greenish hues. Furthermore, most of the organs exhibit smooth or muscular textures, with a few exceptions, like the rough textures of the cloaca/vent and trachea, as well a few samples of the duodenum and jejunum. The colors of the visceral fats include yellow and pale yellow and cream. These colors vary according to their diet that contains carotene. <br/><br/>Moreover, the organ weight, length, width, and luminal diameter were quantitively measured and expressed in grams for weight and in millimeters for length, width and luminal diameter. The male chickens generally exhibit larger organ sizes and heavier weights compared to the females. This was observed in organs such as the esophagus, crop, proventriculus, gizzard, intestines, trachea, lungs, and as well the heart. The ovary, infundibulum, magnum, isthmus, shell gland, and vagina were also evaluated on their length, width, and luminal diameter. <br/><br/>Overall, this study provides valuable baseline information on the biometrical and morphological characteristics of the nondescript local native chickens in the province of Nueva Vizcaya<br/>  Thesis (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine)
