<br/><br/> The study was conducted to determine the platelet increasing effect of tawa-tawa (Euphorbia hiria) capsules in heparin induced thrombocytopenia in dogs The antithrombocytopenic activity of E. hirta was evaluated using platelet count, clotting time and bleeding time determination. <br/><br/>Fifteen dogs were used in the study. An experiment was done with three treatments having 5 replicates each and was randomly distributed to the cages using the Complete Randomized Design. <br/>The study at 48 hours posts treatment of heparin, showed that platelet count of experimental animals under treatment 3 starts to increase while the platelet counts of treatments 1 and 2 starts to increase after 72 hours.<br/><br/>The result of the study indicates that the clotting and bleeding time of dogs induced with thrombocytopenia using heparin at a dose of 200 IU/kg body weight were not affected.<br/>  Thesis (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine)
