<subfield code="a">Experiment using Bayog culm cuttings (base, middle, top) in different soil media (T1: Garden soil, T2: Garden soil and Sandy soil 1:1, T3: Garden soil and Sandy soil 1:2, T4: Garden soil and Sandy soil 2:1 and, T5: Sandy soil) and its interaction was conducted. To determine the growth performance of Bambusa merrilliana on percent survival, percent shooting, percent rooting, length of shoot, number of shoots and root biomass. These parameters were subjected to analysis of variance using STAR software, significant differences were further subjected to Least Significant Difference test. The study is a two-factor experiment arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD).

The result of the study revealed that the culm segments have significant effects on percent shooting and length of shoots. Among the culm segments, the base was the best. Whereas, culm segments have no significant effects on percent survival, percent rooting, number of shoots and root biomass. Among the soil media it has no significant effect on the different parameters tested. Interaction of culm segments and soil media has significant effect on percent survival and percent shooting. Among the interaction of culm segment and soil media, garden soil using base cuttings (TIA1) has the better result. While interaction of culm cuttings and soil media has no significant effect as well on percent rooting, length of shoots, number of shoots and root biomass.
