The compliance to good animal husbandry practice of backyard swine raisers in selected barangays of Lamut, Ifugao/ Jericho D. Buhong Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2021. xiii, 69 leaves : illustrations, photos ; 28 cm. The study was conducted to document the compliance to good animal husbandry practices (GAHP) of selected swine raisers in selected Barangays of Lamut, Ifugao namely Lawig, Lucban, Magulon, Nayon, Panopdopan, Payawan, Holowon and Umilag A total of 122 respondents were randomly selected from the study sites. The study was conducted from February March 2020. A questionnaire was developed and administered to the respondents. The data were collected by actual observation of the farm, key informants and personal interview of the respondents. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results were presented in the narrative method and portrayed in tabular forms. The respondents were mostly females, average 31-50 years old, mostly from the Avungan and Tuwali tribe and majority are Roman Catholics Most were college graduates with household size of 5-6. Majority of the respondents are self-employed and have a monthly family income of less than PhP 5000. Average number of years in rearing pigs is more than 9 years and raised an average of 1-2 heads of sows and growers. The respondents are not compliant to all variables under the component of husbandry skills and responsibilities, housing and facilities in terms of important features in housing design, pig pen floor design, facilities present in the farm, and in the case of farm management, the respondents are not compliant to type of identification and minimum amount of feed per day The respondents are not compliant to all variables under animal health, provision of enough space, segregation of male and female during transport, and all variables under farm sanitation and biosecurity measures. However, the respondents are compliant in all the variables of farm location, variables under housing and facilities in terms of system of confinement and construction materials used. For the component of farm management, the respondents are compliant to most of the variables under breeding practices, feeds and nutrition, practices undertaken when animals get sick, frequency of deworming and variables under animal handling during transport Problems identified were lack of information dissemination, communication, limited farm space and financial capability. Based on the results, recommendations were formulated to improve overall compliance to the Good Animal Husbandry Practices.
