The study investigated the effect of growth hormones (IBA and Hormex) on the root initiation of lipote cuttings and the different soil conditioners on the early growth of lipote rooted cutting. Thus, the study had two phases. Phase I of the study was the root initiation of lipote cuttings that composed of ten treatments and laid-out in two factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD), wherein factor A were the two different growth hormones and factor B were the various concentrations. Each treatment was replicated four times with 8 cuttings per replication. Phase II of the study was the early growth of lipote rooted cuttings that were produced in Phase L. The lipote rooted cuttings were treated with different soil conditioners. The study had 5 treatments, replicated four times and 5 clones per replication. In Phase I, results revealed that the interaction between growth hormones and level of concentrations had a substantial effect on percent shooting and percent callusing of lipote rooted cuttings, but no significant differences were found on percent survival, percent rooting, number of adventitious roots, mean shoot length and number of shoots. For the effect of rooting hormones, it gave significant differences on shoot percentage and callus percentage. Analysis of variance also revealed significant differences on root length as affected by the concentrations of rooting hormones. The IBA treatment had better effect on root initiation, while Hormex treatment performed better on shoot parameters. In Phase II of the study, analysis of variance revealed significant differences on percent survival, chlorophyll content, shoot biomass, root biomass and total biomass as affected by different soil conditioners. The mixture of garden soil and vermicompost with the ratio of 1:1 had the best results for the early growth of lipote clones.
