Liban Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2022 xii, 106 leaves : illustrations (some colored), photos ; 28 cm. + 1 CD The study was conducted to provide an overview of the operation and management of slaughterhouses in Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines and its compliance to National Meat Inspection Services (NMIS) policies or guidelines. This research was conducted in six slaughterhouses in the province. The respondents of the slaughterhouses were provided with questionnaires. The data were collected, tabulated, and analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The results revealed that slaughterhouses employed predominantly male workers belonging to the various intercultural communities (ICC) who were mostly Ilocanos and whose religious faith was Roman Catholic. It is worthy to note that the slaughterhouses were managed and operated by college graduate and secondary level graduates. Findings revealed that all evaluated slaughterhouses were not accredited by National Meat Inspection Services. The location and the building were not in accordance with the prescribed design and distance to residential areas. Despite these findings, a positive outlook on the compliance to the National Meat Inspection Services guidelines showed that slaughterhouses had always complied and practiced the recommended operation and facility management. The local government units support the slaughterhouses by allocating funds for their operation.
