TI - A model of the interrelationship of attitudes towards mathematics, metacognitive awareness and academic performance of grade 10 Students PY - 2024/// CY - Bayombong PB - Nueva Vizcaya State University N1 - The study investigates the relationship between students' attitudes towards mathematics, metacognitive awareness, and academic performance in mathematics. Understanding these relationships is crucial for improving teaching strategies and enhancing students learning experiences. A descriptive-correlational research design was employed to explore these relationships. The study included 323 students randomly selected from five public schools and one private school in the district Two validated instruments were used, the Attitude Towards Mathematics Inventory and the Metacognitive. Awareness Inventory. Descriptive statistics were utilized to measure the levels of students' attitudes towards mathematics, their metacognitive awareness, and their academic performance in mathematics. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) was employed to determine the best-fitting model for predicting students' academic performance based on their attitudes and metacognitive awareness. The Analysis of Moment Structure (AMOS) software was used to model the total effect of students' attitudes and metacognitive awareness on their mathematics achievement. SEM analysis identified significant predictors of academic performance, resulting in a comprehensive model explaining the relationships among these variables. The grade 10 students agreed with the statements regarding their attitudes towards mathematics in cognitive, affective, and behavioral aspects and frequently practiced their metacognitive awareness in terms of conditional knowledge, procedural knowledge, declarative knowledge, planning, monitoring, information management, debugging, and evaluation. The academic performance of the grade 10 students was "very satisfactory." The general model for the interaction of students' attitudes towards mathematics, metacognitive awareness, and academic performance was established. Future research and targeted interventions are recommended to make mathematics teaching more engaging and to support the development of students' metacognitive skills.
