Fasciolosis is an important plant borne trematode zoonosis in ruminants caused by the Fasciola spp. This study aimed to establish the prevalence of fasciolosis using loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) in goats (Capra hircus) in Nueva Vizcaya and the associated risk factors of disease. A total of 80 blood samples were collected from goats in five municipalities of Nueva Vizcaya. Samples collected were examined at the NVSU Fasciola Laboratory, College of Veterinary Medicine, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya. Descriptive statistics and backward stepwise logistic regression analyses were carried out to determine the prevalence and risk factors. The LAMP test revealed the presence of Fasciola gigantica with a prevalence of 76.25% in goats in Nueva Vizcaya. Two variables were identified to be risk factor of fasciolosis in this study including history of previous disease and soil type. The odds of having fasciolosis in goats is 25.631 times greater in goats that were not previously exposed to disease (p=0.001) compared to the goats who had history of illness. In terms of soil type (p=0.020), goats in sandy and loamy areas are more likely to be infected by fasciolosis than those from clay soil by 6.177, at the same time loamy areas are more likely to be infected with the disease by 9.293 compared to those in sandy areas. Data suggests a high endemicity of Pasciola gigantica in goats in Nueva Vizcaya and that management and control of snails, disease awareness and use of other effective anthelmintics would serve as prevention and control programs. And wherever possible, it is advised to avoid raising goats in loamy areas especially with poor drainage as this is a good environment for the intermediate host to thrive.
