Competencies and teaching performance of physical education teachers in a State University/ Harold S. Agustin Bayombong: Nueva Vizcaya State University, 2020 xi, 104 leaves : illustrations (some colored) ; 28 cm. This study focused on the teaching competence and performance of Physical Education Teachers in Isabela State University during the Academic Year 2019-2020. Specifically it aimed to determine the significant difference in the level of teaching performance when the Physical Education teachers when grouped according to their socio-demographic profile and the relationship between the teachers' performance and competence. Using a descriptive inferential design, survey questionnaire and the faculty evaluation instrument (QCE of the NBC No. 461) were utilized and adopted to gather data. Descriptive and inferential analyses utilized the mean, standard deviation, t-test independent samples and analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient for processing the data. Findings revealed that the Physical Education teachers perceived themselves as 'very competent' and 'very satisfactory' in accordance to their teaching competence and performance respectively. Moreover, the findings further showed significant differences in the teachers' level of teaching performance when the teachers were grouped according to age and years in service. However, the overall findings revealed that the teaching competence of teachers was positively correlated to their level of teaching performance. The study recommends that continuing professional development programs should be designed to enhance more of PE teachers' skills and competencies to further improve their performance needed for the welfare of the students and the education realm in general. Parallel studies may be conducted on a larger scale considering other respondents and variables.
