TI - Organic snap bean (phaseolus vulgaris l.) production using pyroligneous acid combined with chicken manure PY - 2020/// CY - Bayombong PB - Nueva Vizcaya State University N1 - In an attempt to develop a component technology for organic bush snap bean production, a greenhouse experiment was conducted at Ibulao Provincial Nursery, Ibulao, Kiangan, Ifugao from March to May 2020. The study aimed to evaluate the growth, yield and quality of bush snap bean as influenced by chicken manure combined with pyroligneous acid; determine the better variety in terms of growth, yield and quality. determine the best concentration of pyroligneous acid in combination with chicken manure for high bush snap bean yield; and determine the best combination of variety and organic fertilizer for high snap bean yield. The experiment was laid out in a split plot design with three replications. The main plot treatments (variety, A) were: A1 (c.v. Bokod) and A2 (c.v. Sablan), The subplot (fertilizers, B) treatments were: B1 ( 30 - 30 - 30kg / ha N , P2O5, K₂O); B2 Chicken manure alone, CM); B3 (CM + 10%PA); B4 (CM + 20%PA) and Bs (CM+ 30%PA). Bokod and Sablan had similar plant height, maturity periods and pod size. Bokod produced greater number and weight of marketable pods while Sablan had greater number and weight of non-marketable pods. Bokod produced greater pod yield on a per plot and hectare bases. Both varieties were severely affected by unfavorable temperature conditions that reached 33°C during the study period resulting to production of more than 50% non-marketable pods per plant. All measured variables were enhanced by 5 t/ha chicken manure combined with applied PA from 10% up to 30% except for plant height which became shorter with increased PA concentration from 10% to 30%; pod length became shorter starting at 20% PA while days to last harvesting continued to become earlier at PA concentration from 20% to 30%. For high bush snap bean yield, Bokod and Sablan should be applied with 5 t/ha chicken manure in combination with 10% pyroligneous acid as soil drench starting 7 DAP and weekly thereafter up to 35 DAP. ; Thesis (Master of Science in Crop Science - Horticulture); Includes appendices and bibliographical references ER -
