<note>This study was conducted to determine the effect of organic and inorganic rooting substances in the air layering of Ipil (Intsia bijuga) (Colebr.) O. Kuntze. The effects of organic and inorganic rooting hormone were measured using percent survival, percent rooting, percent shooting, percent callusing, length of shoots, and length of adventitious roots.

The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with eight treatments and five replications. The air-layered Ipil branchlets were wrapped in 28 cm x 24 cm transparent polyethylene sheets with 1:1:1 mixture of topsoil, cocopeat, and vermicast. The experiment was maintained within 58 days in the mother trees.

The experiment used distilled water as control (T1) and the organic and inorganic rooting substances, Pure Honey (T2), Aloe vera (T3), Coconut water (T4), and the inorganic substances: White willow bark capsule 500 mg (T5), and Indolebutyric Acid (IBA) with concentrations of 1000 ppm (T6), 2000 ppm (T7). and 3000 ppm (T8).

Analysis of Variance showed no significant differences on the different parameters using different rooting substances on air-layered Ipil branchlets. Comparative analyses of the effects between organic and inorganic rooting substances also revealed no significant differences.
