N1  - This study aimed to determine the research capabilities of public elementary teachers in the Northern District, Schools Division of Nueva Vizcaya and the factors that motivate them to conduct research.

	The study was conducted during the school year 2017-2018. The respondents were selected based on multi-stage and stratified proportionate random sampling. A structured questionnaire was constructed and used to gather pertinent data required in the study.

	This study employed the descriptive-inferential method. The descriptive research was used to describe the profile of the teacher-respondents, motivational factors. management factors in terms of research support, and research capabilities in terms of research skills and process and dissemination. The inferential method was employed to determine the relationship between selected variables related to the research capabilities of the respondents.

	The study found out that elementary school teachers who have attained higher educational attainment and have attended national trainings also have higher research capabilities in terms of research skills, and more knowledgeable in research process and dissemination.

	Younger elementary school teachers who have attended national level trainings are more motivated to conduct research. Inversely, older teachers who seldom attend national level training have lower level of motivation to conduct research.
	Elementary school teachers who have higher educational attainment perceived that the school or the institution where they belong have accorded them with amiable environment to conduct research; while those who have attended district level trainings observed that the school or the institution where they belong still need to enhance the capability of teachers to conduct quality research.

	When elementary school teachers are highly motivated to conduct research and provided with adequate management support, they would acquire honed research skills and more capable to disseminate research results in various fora and publish such results in different media; Thesis (Master of Education - Educational Administration); Includes appendices and bibliographical references
