TI - Pre-germination treatments and early growth of anonang (cordia dichotoma forst) using different soil enhancers PY - 2017/// CY - Bayombong PB - Nueva Vizcaya State University N1 - Phase I aimed to assess the effect of pre-germination treatments of Anonang (Cordia dichotoma Forst). The treatments used were the following: T1 Control, T2 -Soaking the seeds in tap water, T3-Lukewarm water, T4 - Hot water, and T5 - Sodium Chloride (NaCl). The study was laid out in Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments and three replications. In the study, the use of lukewarm water, sodium chloride, and tap water were very useful and suitable on germination excluding hot water. The results showed that the percent germination, germinative energy, and germinative capacity of anonang seeds were affected by the different pre-germination treatments used in the study. Soaking the seeds of anonang in tap water trigger the seeds to germinate in time with high percentage of germination. Thus, in treating anonang seeds, soaking in tap water is the best pre-germination treatment especially if massive production is needed Phase 2 aimed of determining the early growth of anonang using different soil enhancers. The experiment was laid out in Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments and four replications. The transplanted Anonang (Cordia dichotoma Forst) sendlings were applied with coconut coir dust, cow manure, carabao manure and decomposed rice hay and were compared with those Anonang seedlings without treatment gives. Growth parameters used in this study were percent survival, height, stem diameter increment, number of leaves, leaf area, shoot biomass, root biomass and total plant biomass which were measured every month. Results and analysis revealed that there were significant differences in height, diameter, number of leaves, leaf area, shoot biomass, root biomass and total plant biomass. In terms of early growth, the decomposed rice hay exhibited the most suitable soil enhancer for anonang (Cordia dichotoma Forst) within six months. Such that, the researcher highly recommended of using decomposed rice hay for Anonang seedling production.
