N1  - The study was conducted to determine the wound healing activity of powderized chicken eggshell and eggshell membrane in albino rats (Rattus norvegicus) Specifically, the study aimed: (1) to compare the length of time (days) for the wound to completely close after application of powderized chicken eggshell and eggshell membrane, (2) to compare the length of time (days) for a complete epithelialization; (3) to compare the tensile strength of the wound after healing, and (4) record any possible side effects after application of powderized chicken eggshell and eggshell membrane in wound. A total of twenty-five (25) 2-3-months albino rats of either sex weighing approximately 100-250 grams were randomly distributed using the Complete Randomized Design (CRD) The different treatments were composed of Treatment 1 (negative control), Treatment 2 (positive control- Mupirocin ointment), Treatment 3 (powderized whole chicken eggshell), Treatment 4 (powderized eggshell membrane), and Treatment 5 (powderized eggshell). The duration of the treatment lasted for 30 days. The study showed that powderized eggshell and membrane either alone or in combination are comparable with commercial antibiotic ointment in terms of wound contraction rate, epithelialization, and tensile strength.
