The study was conducted at the Nueva Vizcaya State University, Bayombong Nueva Vizcaya from May 10- May 31, 2008, to determine the anthelmintic activity of ground squash seeds (GSS) and the efficacy of the different doses of squash seeds against gastrointestinal parasites of sheep.

Sixteen (16) randomly selected adult sheep of both sexes from the NVSU sheep project were used in the study. The experiment composed of four replications was assigned into the different experiment’s unit. It followed the Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD) with the following treatment: T1- Positive Control (Albendazole); T2 – 10 grams of ground squash seeds per head of sheep; T3- 20 grams of ground squash seeds per head of sheep; T4- 30 grams of ground squash seeds per head of sheep.

Results showed that GSS was effective against Haemonchus, Srongyloides, Ostertagia, Bunostomum, Trichuris, Trichostrongylus and moneza. Efficacies however, varied among the 3 doses of GSS and the number of days post- treatment. Highly effective results were seen against Trichuris and Monieza.

The ground squash seeds could be used as an anthelmintic alternative in sheep especially against Haemonchus, Oesophagostomum, strongyloides, Trichuris, Monieza, Trichostrongylus, Bunostomum and Ostrtagia. Follow up administration of ground squash seeds from 6-9th days was also recommended. Ground squash seeds could also be tested in other animals against heminth.
