The study was conducted at Valencia Farm, Maria Clara, Diffun, Quirino where fecal samples were directly collected from the rectum of the sheep and goat, while the laboratory procedures were performed at the Nueva Vizcaya State University Research Center from August 2008 to October 2008 It determined the occurrence of nematode-trapping fungi in goat and sheep, it also evaluated which focal samples with fungal growth exhibited a potential nematode-trapping and lysing effect, and characterized the isolated fungi and their mode of parasitism.

All samples were positive for fungal growth with six nematode-trapping fungi species identified namely, Arthrobotrys oligospora, Arthrobotrys dactyloides, Arthrobotrys superba, Catenaria anguillula, Nematoctonus concurrens and Stylopage hadra. Out of the six species, only three were effective as trapping fungi. These were Arthrobotrys oligospora which exhibited a lysing effect with the greatest number of trapping effect on nematode larvae, Arthrobotrys dactyloides formed constricting rings to trap nematode and Catenaria anguillula produced uniflagellate zoospores to parasitize the nematode.
