The study determined the ectoparasiticidal efficacy of Ampalaya Seed Extract (ASE) using different concentrations and times of exposure against dog flea (Ctenocephalides canis), determined the best level of concentration of Ampalaya Seed Extract against dog flea and the study also compared its efficacy with the available commercially prepared ectoparasiticidal drug coumaphos.
The study was laid out following the Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with the following Treatments Treatment 1- Coumaphos (Positive Control), Treatment 2-25% ASE, Treatment 3. 50% ASE, Treatment 4- 75% ASE, Treatment 5- 100% Ampalaya seed extract and Treatment 6. Negative Control (Distilled water) Each treatment was replicated 3 times.
The study revealed that the effect of Ampalaya seed is comparable to the commercial preparation (coumaphos) against Ctenocephalides canis. For practical means it can be used as a substitute control measure against dog fleas
