Leadership styles of public secondary school administrators of Ifugao: their implications to teachers' job satisfaction/ Dizon Ballogan Tayaban

The study was conducted to determine the relationship of. administrators and trenchers profile with the leadership styles of administrators, and teachers job satisfaction, and leadership styles of administrators as perceived by themselves and the teachers with teachers' job satisfaction.
The study was conducted among 11 principals and teachers-in-charge and 125 teachers under them from 11 National High Schools within the 8 municipalities of Ifugao randomly picked through lottery procedure.
The statistical tools included descriptive statistics in the form of frequency distribution and percentage on the profile of administrators and teachers and computation of the Average Weighted Score (AWS) in assessing the leadership styles of administrators and levels of job satisfaction of teachers The Pearson r or computed through SPSS v. 10 was used to determine the relationship of administrators and teachers' profile with administrators leadership style, und teachers job satisfaction And the t-test was used to compare the perception of administrators and teachers on the leadership styles of administrators, and to determine the relationship between leadership styles of administrators and teachers' job satisfaction. Findings revealed that the school administrator practiced consultative leadership style as perceived by the administrators themselves and the teachers under them with a mean rating of 4.16 and 3.62, respectively. Although both administrators and teachers' assessments fall on the same descriptive category as consultative, the computed t value of 7.17 indicate that there was a significant difference on their assessments.
The overall rating of the teachers on their job satisfaction was 3.66 which means the tenchers were satisfied on their job
The following administrators profile, were significantly related to their leadership style: nge, umuul family income, und number of awards received in the national level Gender, civil status, number of living children, highest educational attainment, number of years as teacher, number of years as administrator, umumber of awards in the division and regional level, and number of trainings attended in all levels were not significantly related to administrators' leadership styles as perceived by the administrators.
The teachers' profile on age, highest educational attainment, and number of years as teacher reveals significant relationship administrators leadership style as perceived by the teachers. On the other hand, teachers' profile on gender, civil status, annual family income, number of living children, number of awards received in the division, regional and national level, and number of trainings attended in all levels had non significant relationship on administrators' leadership style
Only two of the administrators' profile, were found to have significantrelationship with teachera' job satisfaction. These were number of living children and mumber of awards received in the national level. All the other administrators profile had no significant relationship with teachers' job satisfaction
As regards to teachers' profile, their annual family income was found to have significant relationship with their job satisfaction. The other teachers' profile on age, gender, number of living children, highest educational attainment, number of years as teacher, and number of awards received and trainings attended in all levels were not significantly related to their job satisfaction.
The administrators' leadership style as perceived by themselves and the teachers under them was found to have significant relationship with teachers job satisfaction
Based on the foregoing findings, the researcher recommends that school administrators under the Department of Education should make some revisions or changes on the system of promotion so that qualified teachers need not wait long for an item or vacancy in a higher position to be promoted. The system of promotion in the State Colleges and Universities may be adopted School administrators also should strive towards participative leadership style for better job satisfaction and more harmonious relationship with the teachers. Future researchers along this line may consider the use of other administrators and teachers' related variables, and teachers morale.
