The study was conducted at the Nueva Vizcaya State University, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya from September 26 to October 8, 2011, to determine the anthelmintic efficacy of ground squash seeds (GSS) and the efficacy of the different doses of squash seeds against gastrointestinal parasites of goats.

Twenty (20), randomly selected adult goats from Villaross, Bagabag. Nueva Vizcaya were used in the study. The experiment composed of five treatments, Each with four replications. It followed the Completely Randomized Design (CRD), with the following treatments 1, Negative Control (water), T₂-Positive Control (Albendazole), T3-10 grams of ground squash seeds per head of goat; T4-20 grams of ground squash seeds per head of goat, T5-30 grams of ground squash seeds per head of goat.

Result showed that the highest dose of GSS was effective against Strongyloides and it is comparable to the effect of albendazole. Although a reduction in strongyle egg counts was observed in all treatments with different doses of GSS, the percentage efficacy is so low that it is considered ineffective. The ground squash seeds could be used as an alternative anthelmintic especially against Strongyloides. A follow up study can be done and consider increasing the dosage of GSS against other Helminthes. In addition, squash seed can be tested in other animals. A phytochemicals analysis of the squash seed must also be done and study on the possible mode of action of the active component responsible for the anthelmintic action of squash.
