Paddle wheel aerator is one of the widely used aerator in pond farming. They are often used in large-scale aquaculture operations, such as fish farms, where oxygen levels are crucial for the survival and growth of aquatic organisms. As the aquaculture industry continues to thrive paddle wheel aerators remains as an important tool for efficient and effective aeration.
Inspired by such, a paddle was designed and fabricated to increase dissolved oxygen (DO) levels on ponds at a lesser time. The device was set for preliminary testing with different trials to finalize the adjustment and better placement of the paddle wheel. The major components of the paddle are blades, rim, shaft, and bolts.
The gathered data after the final testing was analyzed using T-test. It was found that at 2-meter distance there is a critical value of 0.92 ns increase of dissolved oxygen while, at 4-meter distance the increase of dissolved oxygen has a critical value of 0.80 ns. The cost of fabricating the paddle wheel was P 7,494.04.
