This study was conducted to assess the managerial role performance of the national high school administrators of Nueva Vizcaya and to determine the variables associated with it.

The study covered nine national high schools of Nueva Vizcaya. Two groups of respondents were used: all the school heads of the nine (9) national high schools and 169 teachers proportionately and randomly picked from a total of 292 teachers in these schools. The national high school heads provided information on personal and school-related variables as well as their self-assessment of effectiveness of their managerial roles. The teachers. the other hand. provided their own the on assessment of their school heads managerial role performance.

In describing the personal characteristics statistics such and of the respondents. school-related the descriptive as frequency distribution, percentages. ranges, means and standard deviations were used. In ascertaining the correlation of the administrator demographic. and school-related variables with the level of managerial role performance of national secondary high school of Nueva Vizcaya. the backward. stepwise multiple regression and correlation analysis were used. The t-test was used in ascertaining the difference between the administrators' self-perception and the teachers evaluation of the level of managerial role performance of the national secondary high schools.

Results of the study revealed that more than one-half of the school heads were males with ages ranging from 31-40 years. The mean age of the respondents was 41.22 years. All of them were married and two-thirde had none three children. More than one-half has earned MA/MS units. had been serving as national secondary school administrators for up to five years and were rated very satisfactory during the last three years. More than one-half received an annual salary in excess of P160.000. All the school heads recipients of certain awards honors.

More than one-half of the school administrators considered their supply and facilities as moderately adequate. More than one-half supervised 21-40 teaching staff. About three-fourths had up to 20 non-teaching staff. Two-thirds of the school heads resided for up to 5 km away from their respective schools. More than three-fourths had students numbering up to 1000.

Both school heads and teachers perceived that the level of managerial role performance of the former in terms of organizational dimension orientation was effective. other hand. On the the self-perceptions of the school headn an regards the level of their managerial role performance in interpersonal dimension orientation was very effective while the teachers considered it to be effective. The school heads" self-assessment of their managerial role performance was significantly higher in both organizational and interpersonal skills as compared to the teachers' perception. Age and length of service as school heads were found to significantly affect the organizational skills of the national secondary school heads. Meanwhile. the personal variables significantly associated with interpersonal dimension orientation were age, sex. length of service, and annual salary.

None among the school-related variables were found to be significantly related with the level of role performance of the national secondary school heads in terms organizational and interpersonal dimension orientation.

On the basis of the foregoing findings, the following conclusions were made: Majority of the school heads are males, with ages ranging from 31-40 years. All are married where most them have up to three children. More than one-half had earned MA/MS units, were serving se national secondary school administrators for up to five years and were rated very satisfactory during the lant three years.

Majority of the respondents were receiving an annual salary in excess of P160,000. All the respondents, had. at one time or another, been recipients of awards honors.

Majority of the respondents were receiving moderately adequate supplies and facilities. More than one-half were supervising 21-40 teaching staff. Almost all of them had at most 20 non-teaching staff. Majority were residing for up to 5 km away from their respective schools. More than three-fourths had at most 1000 students.

The level of managerial role performance of national secondary school administrators in terms of organizational and interpersonal dimension orientation is effective.

Only the personal variables age and length of service as school heads significantly affected. the organizational skills of the national secondary school heads. The personal variables that significantly affected interpersonal dimension orientation were age, sex. length of service, and annual salary.

None among school-related variables the significantly related with the level of role performance of the national secondary school headn in terms organizational and interpersonal dimension orientation.
