The study aimed to determine the acaricidal efficacy of Madre de cacao (Gliricida septum) leaf extract against brown dog tick (Rhipicephalus sanguineus) m-vivo and determine the effective concentration that can be comparable to the commercial product commonly used to treat brown dog tick in the host.

The study was laid out following the completely randomized design (CRD) with the following treatments. TI amitraz (positive control), T2 Water (negative control), 13-25% Gliricidia sepium leaf extract (GSLE) + 75% distilled water, T4-50% GSLE +50% distilled water, T5-75% GSLE+ 25% distilled water and T6-100%GSLE Based on the result of the study, the highest concentration of 100% madre cacao leaf extract has an effect against brown dog ticks (Rhipicephalus sanguineus) with percentage efficacy of 41.67% 120 minutes after the application of treatments The lower concentrations of 25, 50 and 75% were not effective against the brown dog tick. The researcher recommends that further study can be done using another method of extracting the active component of the madre de cacao from the leaves or other parts of the tree (Gliricidia septum) applied to other species of animals and ectoparasites.
