The government's urgent call for the development and implementation of resource mobilization and generation schemes that would augment the university's resources prompted the operation of income generating projects in state universities and colleges.
The study determined the level of implementation of management practices in terms of planning, organizing, staffing, directing, coordinating, reporting, and budgeting or commonly known as POSDCORB in the management and operation of Income Generating Projects (IGPs) in the Nueva Vizcaya State University.
The profiles of the respondents, the IGP's profile, the level of implementation of management practices, the challenges encountered, as well as the relationships of the various variables in conjunction with the objectives of the study, were determined through a descriptive method of research and documentary analysis. Data gathered was treated and analyzed using frequency counts, percentages, ratios, weighted means, and multiple regression analysis.
The result of the study showed that the IGP personnel had a high extent of implementation of POSDCORB management practices in operationalizing and managing IGPs. Moreover, the seriousness of the identified challenges signified that such challenges were only intermittent and occurred sometimes in the operation of IGPs in NVSU.
In addition, the test of the relationship between the level of implementation of management practices and the profile of the respondents revealed that management practices in terms of staffing, directing, coordinating, and reporting correlated significantly with the highest educational attainment and designations. There was a positive significant relationship between the highest educational attainment and the level of implementation of management practices employed in the IGP operations, in terms of staffing and reporting, which implied a direct relationship between the variables In contrast, the negative relationship between designation and the level of implementation of management practices employed in the IGP operations in terms of staffing, directing, coordinating, and reporting indicated a deductive relationship.
Furthermore, all the POSDCORB management practices except directing and staffing correlated significantly but negatively with the challenges encountered by the respondents of the study.
Based on the result of the study, the researcher recommended strategies and activities for better implementation of POSDCORB management practices in the operations, human resources, finance, and marketing management of income generating projects in NVSU.
