The influence of leaf trimming and various levels of indolebutyric acid on the propagation of Lapnisan (Aquilaria malaccensis Lam.) stem cuttings were investigated utilizing a 3 x 4 factorial CRD experimental design in a non-mist propagating chamber with sandy soil + coir dust soil medium. The stem cuttings were taken from three nodes of one-year-old Lapnisan seedlings and the data were analyzed using analysis of variance and LSD. The result of the study reveals that 0% leaf trimming significantly influence the survival, rooting, number of leaves, shooting and callus formation of A. malaccensis stem cuttings. The application of IBA is not necessary in propagating A. malaccensis stem cuttings. Furthermore, A. malaccensis stem cuttings do not require an administration of growth hormones such as IBA since the cuttings established roots and survived without IBA treatment. For bulk production of Lapnisan cloned seedlings, it is effective to utilize a treatment combination of 0% leaf trimming x distilled water, since distilled water is inexpensive and more widely available than IBA.
