This qualitative research study documented and analyzed Kukkuyappon dance of the Isinays of Dupax del Sur, Nueva Vizcaya for preservation through the lens of historical and participant-observation. The researcher captured rich narratives, and personal experiences of informants through in-depth interviews, observation and participation in the dance, using an unstructured interview guide and video recording which served as the primary tool in collecting data in this study. The recorded dance steps demonstrated by the informants were analyzed and interpreted into descriptive narrative form and were transcribed using the Aquinotation method. Eight themes were generated from the analyzed data in this study, these were: 1. Etymology of Kukkuyappon, 2. Dance Genre, 3. Dance Choreography, 4. Musical arrangement, 5. Dance elements and 6. Learning Material. Specifically, this study aimed to document and analyze the dance as to the origin, nature of the dance, dance property in terms of dance movement (body parts) and their characteristics and dance pattern, music of the dance in terms of key signature, time signature and form, attires, accessories and props, and their cultural symbolism; and documentary evidence that can be developed for cultural preservation and instructional purposes.
